BAILEY - BAYLEY - COONROD - CONRAD

I am doing research on my great, great grandfather, Robert Bailey. I was given some information from a 3rd cousin that Robert Baily (different spelling) married Mary Conrad on July 7, 1805. Evidently there was a record in Hardy Cty, page 22 is the only thing I can identify on the copy of the page. I was also told the Mary's father, John (Coonrod) Conrad left a will (Hardy County Will Book 1819 to 1824 Book 3, page 181. ) I am looking for copies of any documents you can locate. I'm still undecided if Mary's maiden name was Coonrod or Conrad. If you have anything on that. Also, I am looking for a copy of John Conrad's will on anything else you can find. I have not been able to identify the parents of Robert Bailey (Baily or even Bayley). Any info on that would be appreciated. If you can give me some direction as to where to go from Hardy Cty, I would appreciate it. If records are available online, please let me know.
Thank you, Rod Bailey

RADABAUGH - SIMON- SIMONS

Hello, I need assistance in a potential guardian record. Catherine Simon b abt 1775 in Hampshire County, died aft 1850. Catherine Simon married Adam Radabaugh about 1790 in Hampshire/Hardy County. (I would love these records too).

But Adam Radabaugh died in presumably in Chillcothe, Ohio before after 1803 and before 1810. Catherine and Adam had minor children and it is my understanding there would have been a guardian record. I can't locate one in Ohio. Catherine did return to Virginia/West Virginia and so I'm considering that the guardian record could be in Hardy County because her family had lived there. Catherine's father Johann George Simons was deceased in 1804 so it is unlikely he would have been the guardian so my next step is to consider a brother - Leonard, George, Benjamin Allen, Jacob, or Christian (Simon or Simons - even potentially another spelling.

So any suggestion on finding guardianship records? The children I would be trying to find under guardian would be Benjamin or Elizabeth Radabaugh with the mother Catherine Simon Radabaugh. Suggestions?

WALDECK

I’m studying my ancestor Henry Waldeck that was a Hessian soldier that came to America to fight for the British in our Revolutionary War. He was captured at the battle of Trenton, became a POW, deserted and ended up going to Virginia (now WV). He eventually ended up settling in what was Harrison County, VA (WVA) around 1798, but I have some vague information that he appeared on the personal property tax records of Hardy County starting in 1790. I am trying to locate those tax records, but so far have been unable. Would you have any suggestions as to where I might find them? I understand that census records are not available, and that tax records might be all there is. Also, at the time, Henry was married to a Rebecka Evans that may have died during their time in Hardy Co.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

MALONE - MELLON - PRICE

Archibald Malone was a farmer who lived in Wardensville as of the 1860 census. He disappears from records during the Civil War. His wife Catherine and younger children moved to Baltimore. Possibly leaving son James in Hardy County. Trying to find property records/birth/death records on Archibald. Born approximately 1818. Not to be confused with the Pvt. Archibald Malone that died at age 19 or 20 during the Civil War.

DELAWDER - HARLESS - MOYER/S - MAY - PRICE - WHETSEL

I am specifically looking for any historical/oral histories on Eva Margaret Harless m. Samuel May, Henry Delawder m. Ann Rebecca May, Capt. James M. May (why was he not a Capt. in the C.S.A. as he was in the VA Militia?)

What was the name of the local paper in Hardy County in the 1700 & 1800's, if applicable?
Thank you for adding me.

OSBORNE

Researching land grant of 1748 for George Osborne in Hardy County. I have been trying to identify on a map the land granted to my 5th great-grandfather, George Osborne, which was lot #18 surveyed in 1748 by James Genn and George Washington for my 6th great-grandfather Jeremiah Osborne. I have a copy of the land grant itself, but don't know how to find the actual land. I do know that it was one of the 20 lots on the South Fork of the South Branch, and that it is likely near the town of Moorefield. I'd like to visit the land and see where my Osborne ancestors got their start in West Virginia. Any help is appreciated greatly.

DAVIS - HARRIS

My Harris ancestors Jesse Harris and Sarah Davis married in Hardy County in 1809. I have been trying to find any local information on them as for court records, land records, census etc. , and have nothing. Sarah Davis's father is believed to be James Davis. Both the Harris and Davis Families are listed in the Hardy County 1800 Personal Tax Lists for North and South Fork. They were also born in Virginia in 1788 and 1791. James Davis also had two sons Perry Davis and Frank Davis. I have looked on Ancestry and Family Search but they have nothing promising. I decided to start searching in the counties and states they were in. Would Moorefield Court Clerk have records to do a search? Or do you know of a Researcher that can do a search for me.
Thank You for your assistance.
Sincerely, Pete LaRue
