BOLEN, CRAWFORD, DAVIS,
LOVETT -
For a year and a half I've been trying to determine the parents and siblings of my ggrandfather,
William H Crawford b Dec 1845 Mercer Co W VA; d 2 Mar 1913 Pleasant City, Guernsey, Oh. I
have his NARA records and know that he enlisted in the 5th OVC in Feb 1865 in Chester, Meigs Oh.
His first wife was Mary E Lovett, married 10 Jan 1866. 2 daughters...Sarah M b abt 1868,
Meigs Co Oh and Mattie M Crawford b 28 Aug 1870, Sutton Twp, Meigs Co, Oh. His second wife
was Hannah E. Davis m 20 May 1876 , and their children were Leora, b abt 1877 Chester
Meigs Oh, Emmet b abt 1878, Thomas E. b abt 1879, Jennie L b abt 1886, William b abt 1889 and
Edgar G, my grandfather b. 20 Jan 1893. I've seen one great family ogfn data to show Williams
father to be Thomas b 1816 Frederick Va (ogfn 572150465) and Mother Julia (ofgn 572150469). I've
also seen William, (ogfn : 546704089) to be the son of Zachariah Crawford (ofgn:546704089)
and Sarah Jane Bolen (Ogfn: 546816840). I don't know how to verify info by OGFN. I did see
a William, age 15 on the 1860 Mercer County census living with Reuben age 29 and Margaret age 22
and their 2 sons Thomas Z age 1 and George W age 1.12.I also saw that Thomas had two daughters
who died in 1860 of I believe diptheria. since William named his first 2 daughters Maattie and
Sarah, it made me wonder if a relationship existed. No parnets nam,es on NRAR records....I know
William died of Labor related Pneumonia and that he was a miner in Oh. Any help or direction
would be appreciated...I will try to make it to courthouse in Spring if don't find info. I live
in San Antonio and did make trip to see his house and tombstone in Pleasant City, Guernsey, Oh
about a year ago. my father showed my mom this house and tombstone before he died in 1993. What
can I check next? Should I try to get the Mercer Co. Will books, Deed books, Order Books etc and
have them sent to my LDS Reading room?

DICKEY -
I am trying to find information relating to ADAM DICKEY, born in Mercer County, VA about
1764. He apparently had relocated to Kentucky by the early 1800's. My direct ancestor, DANIEL
DICKEY, was born in Kentucky in 1803 and may have had a brother, WILLIAM DICKEY.
Adam appears to have been William's father but I can't confirm that he was also father to Daniel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

MORRISSETTE -
I am still looking for information about my father's family, the Morrissettes. My
grandfather John Richard Morrissette was a railroad engineer in Coopers, W.Va. in the
1890's and I am trying to find out whether my father Charles Jeffrey Morrissette, Sr. was
born there. I always thought he was born in Bramwell, but that may be wrong. My father's
birthdate is Dec. 2, 1892. Is there any way I can have a search done of the Coopers birth records
for that date to see if my father's birth is recorded there or in the Mercer County capital (and
I don't know where that is.) I would like a copy of his birth record if that is possible.
Appreciate any help you can give me. Many thanks.

I'm trying to locate a copy of a book that relates to a Mercer co family, title 'History of the
Mitchell Clay and Phoebe Belcher family' by Alan Deibel (main author). I have only found this
book at the familysearch.org site but thought surely somewhere a library in the southern WVA or
southwest VA area had a copy. published Austin, Texas: J.C. Lowe, 1990 I can't find it at the WVA
State Library, Library of VA or DAR library D.C.either. Hope someone knows the clue to locating a
copy. thanks

BENNETT, WRIGHT -
Seeking information on Oscar L. Bennett. He is listed in the South Eastern Reporter as the
defendent in a Supreme Court of Appeals of W. Va. in a case evolving in Mercer County regarding
support of an illegitimate child (Wright vs. Bennett 05/07/1922). The plaintiff in that case is
Amelia Wright - She would be my great grandmother, and the illegitimate child would be my
grandmother, Olive Wright. I have found some info on an Oscar Bennett who was the
police chief in Bramwell - I have no idea if that's the same Oscar Bennett or not.
