BODELE, BODELL, BROWN,
McKENZIE -
I am researching stone and earthenware potteries in the state. I have a reference to a pottery of
Brown & McKenzie, East River, WV. John A. McKenzie and his wife L. Elizabeth are
buried appropriately enough in the Potter's Shop Cemetery, Hardy, WV. There is also in
the 1850 census a David M. Bodele (Bodell) who is listed as a potter, as is John W.
Brown in the 1860 census for Mercer County. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

DUNCAN, POOLE -
Looking for information regarding Crocket L. Duncan b 5/10/1858 d 5/19/1915. He is laid to
rest in Bowling Cemetary in Spainishburg, WV between his 1st and 2nd wives. Also, looking for
information on those wives, one might be Maggie Ellen Poole (most important). The other
Nancy Duncan b 5/9/1859 d 5/11/1901 (not so important). Maggie and Crocket had a son, John
Walter Duncan (my grandfather). Information regarding the parents of Croket L. Duncan would be a big help. Also, Maggie may have been full or mostly Cherokee Indian.

FARRIS -
Remember the old tent meetings, 1920-30? My great-aunt Nettie B. Farris was a
Pentecostal Holiness tent preacher who evangelized through the southern WV coal fields
and as far as the Covington, VA area from 1925 to 1936. Her husband Frank was a coal mine
supervisor. Anyone who recalls Nettie Farris or tent meetings of that era, please send me
details! Thanks
