The were marr Aug 30, 1871 in Logan Co, W Va. She died abt 1889 in Logan Co,W VA of consumption & George died Dec 7, 1909 in Logan Co, W Va & is buried at Crawley Creek. Their son Ransom Jiles Richards b Oct 15, 1876 in Logan Co, W Va is my ggfather. He marr Dec 22, 1900 in Logan Co, W Va Emma Susan "Susie" Hughes b Feb 26, 1882 Roane Co, W Va. Ransom died April 12, 1940 and is buried Mitchell Heights, Logan Co, W Va. Susie died Mar 10, 1952 in Logan Co W Va buried Forest Lawn/Mitchell Heights. George Washington Richards 1st wife was Lydia Hatfield and his third was Araminta "Minnie" Stollings. Need Help.

I am looking for any information related to James (Jimmy) Thompson of his wife Mary (?Elizabeth?) (ALLEN) Thompson and/or their family. They were from the Omar area where he was shot and killed in 1897 and she had her arm maimed. She died about 5 years later. The shooting took place over a dispute over some land. A Vance may have served time for the shooting. Some in the family think it may have been a Hatfield who did the shooting. Later his son Lorenzo Thompson became Chief Electrician at the Island Creek Coal Mines at Holden. He died in 1941. Does anyone remember the family. He fathered 10 children between 1906-24. Would like any information on Sanders Collins, b. 5/2/1884, probably in Wayne Co., WV, died 10 Mar 1919 in Logan Co. Is said to be buried in Holden Cem. My grandmother, Naomi Frances Mosley Collins Clark stated he was born in WV but his children say he was born in Inez, KY. According to my grandmother, he died of pneumonia while working in the mines. Can anyone shed some light on the surname KANUTE (or Cannutte other various possible spellings)? More specific, Christina KANUTE who married Brett/Brent/Britt ALLEN somewhere in SW (W)VA or eastern KY, ca. mid 1800s. She was widowed by 1880(aged abt 49) and was serving as hired housekeeper for WM McCoy in that Census of Logan Co. West VA. She had 3 children Mary Elizabeth (m. James Thompson,Logan) Mattie Belle (m. Peter Thompson [James'bro also of Logan) and Scott (m. ?). Christina was not Brent/Brett/Britt's first wife and there are few Allens listed in the 1880 census. BURL S. BROWNING/JOHN LANE

Looking for descendants of Burrell (Burl) S. Browning, son of Isaac Browning. Burrell S. Browning was named executor of the estate of John Lane who died in Mingo County in June of 1899. John Lane had purchased the land in 1898 along the Orchard Branch of the Guyan River from Levi and Venila (Toler) Browning. Have searched for 25 years to try to figure out anything about the family of this John Lane. The family tradition says he changed his name to avoid the law. His widow Arminta Stiltner moved shortly after his death back to her family in Buchanan Co., VA. I feel very strongly that John Lane is somehow related to the Brownings. Does anyone have any idea how. I have been unable to locate a cemetery marker or an obituary due to the destruction of the newspapers by the big flood. Does anyone have any idea where I might find school records in Logan County between 1890 and 1898. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Joanne I. Layne pplsrch@iconnect.net or P. O. JOHN "RAGMUFF" CONLEY

I am looking for the father of John (Ragmuff) Conley. He had a son named Creed Conley married to a Julie Duty. Creed had a brother named Joe. Creed was born in Logan County around 1890-1900. Any information would be of great help.
