COMMENTS: I've been looking up the Maze geneology, and have a few questions: Is the james Mayse mentioned in the Hardesty's history the same as James Maze mentioned later in the book. He is married to Charity Stout. Then, is this James Maze the same man as the one who left the last will posted on the web site. In his will he mentions being married to Elizabeth - a second marriage I imagine. Then his eldest child is Joseph, is this the Rev. Joseph Maze that later marries Mary Callow? I appreciate any insights into these questions.

On their marriage bond, John was listed as being from Washington Co. and the son of John E. Collins. I thought maybe some of the Calhoun Co. Collins might have some connection to this Collins family. COMMENTS: I am looking for information on the BENNETT family in Calhoun Co.. My grandmother was Delphia BENNETT KENDALL. Her father was Frank BENNETT and her mother was Esther SHOCK. I have alot of information on Esther, but barely any on Frank. I have been recently looking through the Rush Run Baptist Church 100th Anniversary booklet. COMMENTS: I have over 3000 names of the DEWEES family back to 1595 and have an interest to locate the descendants of Isaac Updegrove Dewees' family in Gilmer/Lewis/Calhoun County. Isaac was the son of John DEWEES and Mary UPDEGROVE and had brothers JOHN DEWEES, WILLIAM DEWEES, SAMUEL DEWEES, and JOSHUA DEWEES. The brothers' children all fought for the North and Isaac's for the South during the War-between-the-States. This separation appeared to have lasted all these years. Anyone interested in helping me unite these families again?

According to LDS library, Henry Milo Beall married Elizabeth Parsons, 12 March 1821, Lewis Co..and their children was Henderson b. 1824 Lewis Co., Emily b.1822, Lewis Co., John M.b.28 April 1830, Lewis Co.and Newton b. 1832 Lewis Co. Then 8 May 1834, Henry Milo Beall married Mary Magdaline Stump. On Gilmer Co. Web, Henry Milo Beall and Mary Stump are listed as the parents. I can find nothing of Henry and Mary having children. Is LDS wrong? Was there two Henry Milo Beall's? I think Elizabeth died and Henry remarried as fast as he could because of the four small children. On Emily Beall Smith's widow's pension for husband Joshua Smith, her father is listed as just Henry (no wife listed), Can someone please clear this Beall name up?

COMMENTS: PARSONS FAMILY HISTORY: I know my grgrgrandfather was named Edward Parsons, and he and Sarah Jackson were the parents of my grgrandfather Andrew Jackson Parsons, born 3/6/1866 in Calhoun County, West Virginia. Edward Parsons apparently was killed in a corn patch feud and orphaned Andrew Jackson Parsons. I do not more details than this and am very interested in finding more information. I am also particularly interested in finding more information on the Parsons in WV or VA.
Andrew Jackson Parsons married Louisa Emory Wampler and had 11 children:
Betty Angelina Parsons, DOB: 6/23/1895, in Blue Ridge, VA; Mary Sara Ann Parsons, DOB: 7/28/1897, in Blue Ridge, VA; Donna Parsons, DOB: 2/22/1899; Samuel James, 12/12/1899, in Blue Ridge, VA; Alonzo McKinley Parsons, DOB: 1/17/01, in Wheeling, WV; Iva Marie Parsons, DOB: 1/26/03, in Wheeling, WV; Arthur Jackson, DOB: 3/24/05, Bellville, WA; Benjamin Franklin Parsons (my grandfather), DOB: 8/9/09, Bellville, WA; Dortha Ellen Parsons, DOB: 5/10/07, Bellville, WA; Edward Carnary Parsons, DOB: 9/16/11, Canada; and Lou Amy Parsons, DOB: 5/9/14, Bellville, WA.
Apparently, Andrew Jackson Parsons was a logger. He died of stomach cancer 1/29/15 in Bellfast, WA. Benjamin Franklin Parsons married my grandmother Lesta Mae Boyce and had the following children:
Donald Edward Parsons (my father), DOB: 1/10/29, in Yakima, WA, and died in Juneau, Alaska, of lung cancer on 4/18/85; Kenny Parsons, birthdate unknown, died in WA in a motorcycle accident in the mid-1950s; Lester Parsons, birthdate unknown, still living; and Doris Parsons, birthdate unknown, still living.
I am 31 years of age, was married for 12 years and recently divorced, and have one seven-year-old son, Patrick Steven Hanson. I also have one 49-year-old brother, Dr. Lawrence Parsons, professor of Neuroscience at the University of Texas, San Antonio, and two sisters: Connie (Parsons) Patt, married to Ron with three sons, Matrix, 4, Graham, 19, and Damien, 21, and Mellissa (Parsons) Russell, married to Jeff with two sons, Cody, 11, and Chase, 8. My sister Connie lives in Silverton, Oregon, and Mellissa and I live in Anchorage, Alaska.

Her father, George Washington White was born at Logan Courthouse, VA, March 14, 1850, and died March 28, 1918, in Evansville, Indiana. He was first married to my greatgrandmother, Ailsey Jarvis, the daughter of Weeden Harrison Jarvis and Elizabeth Jane Hensley. Ailsey died in 1887 shortly after giving birth to my grandmother, and George married Sara Roanna McClain on February 17, 1888. They later moved to Arkansas. My grandmother lived in Webster Co. for awhile where she met and married my grandfather, Joseph Waitman Carpenter.Any information on either the White or Jarvis family would be appreciated.

COMMENTS: Samuel GREATHOUSE is listed with his wife, nee Sudna TANNER, in the 1860 Calhoun County census. He also was listed with the 19th VA Cavalry as being from Calhoun County. He is later in Roane County, which means, I think, that he lived on that side of Calhoun. Anyone who can enlighten me as to his parentage?? Is he the son of John? Help! Help! Holding up publication of Descendants of John and Margaret HOFFMAN/HUFFMAN in hope of finding picture of Alexander HUFFMAN who married Hannah VANNOY. We know one exists. A grandson referred to looking at a picture of Alexander that was taken at Wheeling in 1868 when Alexander represented Calhoun Co. in the Legislature. The family story is that the brothers were very ill. Daniel died and was buried first, then enlarged to include Humphrey because it was the middle of winter. On the tombstone, Humprey is listed as Umphrey. He was called Ump by friends. He married Levina Little. I am looking for information on the Frank NORMAN family. Frank had a daughter -- Olive, also known as Ollie -- who was born in Jan 18 1898 in WV, married Thomas J. Starcher on Feb 24 1913 in Grantsville WV. She was my grandmother. Frank was still living at the time of her death though his wife was probably not. Frank's wife's maiden name may have been WEBB. Looking for information on my great-grandparents, MARTIN VAN BUREN DOUGLAS and ROANNA NICHOLAS. They were married in Calhoun County in 1858, and were living there in the 1880 census. If anyone out there knows the names of Martin and Roanna's parents, I would love to hear from you.

I would like information on sisters Nancy Jane Kerby (Oct. 28,1868-Nov. 6, 1904) and Almina Alice Kerby (Oct. 29,1880-July 19, 1915), first and second wives of Samuel Arthur George of Barbour Co.. I'm seeking info regarding: J.N. VINCENT (born c. 1841-1846) and SAREPTA VINCENT who lived in Calhoun County, WV. They had 4 children: SARAH E.(born c. 1866), EMMA A.(born c. 1871), CORA A.(born c. 1877), AND GEORGE ELMOS (born c. 1876). All the children were born in Marion County but were all living in Calhoun County at the dates of their marriages. George married Eunice Mace. The MACE family is prolific in Calhoun County at that time. Any info appreciated in advance.
