James H. Willey was born May 3rd 1878. He died Sept. 9, 1942 age 65 yrs. 4 months 6 days. He was united in marriage to Susanna Yost on April 1, 1900 at Birchfield, W. Va. Mrs. Willey died May 1941. From this marriage was born 12 children, 9 of which are still living. The surviving are: Mrs. Perry Vandruff, Toronto, Ohio.; Mrs. Arthur Stoneking Big Run W. Va.; Mrs. Frank Shreve, Fraine W. Va.; Thomas J Willey U.S. Army.; Bruce E Willey, Spraul, Pa.; Mrs. John Connelly, Salemville, Pa.; Mrs. Edwin Rice, Big Run W. Va.; Burl F Willey U. S. Army and Mrs. Charley Miller, Spraul Pa.. There are 34 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also two sisters Mrs. Henry Brewer, Big Run W. Va. and Mrs. Calvin Yost, Shinniston W. Va. Funeral Services was held Sunday the 2th at his home on Rock Camp with John Kindle officiating. Internment took place in the Willey Cemetery.

NOTE: The above obit was written by Jim Shreve, Sr.’s grandmother for his great grandfather. It was “typed exactly as it was written by my grandmother's hand, and this is what was sent to the local newspaper”.

Samantha Ann Willey (mother of James H. Willey) was actually a "Long". She was left at the Willey farm at an unknown age, and took on their last name. It is unknown who her parents were.

NOTE: Florance is the dau. of James Huey Willey, who was a son of Samantha Ann "Anna" Long & William Santford "Sant" Willey.

Samantha Ann (Long) Willey lived in the household of James & Mary “Polly” (Wyatt) Willey.
Samantha Ann is noted as “Anna Long” on her son’s death certificate
