According to a brief biography in History of Tyler County, West Virginia, Vol. 2, 2005, submitted by Sharon L. Neff, he was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was known as David or Dave. He attended grade school at Alvy, and graduated from Tyler County High School in 1965. He deployed to Vietnam in November 1965. In addition to his parents, he left two sisters, Nelda and Sharon.

Dwight Irving Wadsworth, the brother of Charles David, died tragically when he was electrocuted 10 September 1962, while home on leave from the U. S. Navy.
