Maynard Hebb
Maynard Hebb, 70, died at Staunton, Va., on Nov. 1, 2007 of a heart condition and pneumonia.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1936 at St. George, W. VA. to the late Perry Hebb of Staunton, Va. He was married to Patricia "Patty" Hebb of Staunton, Va.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Doug Gauza of Canton, Ohio; Julie and Chad Warbruton of Navarre, Ohio; and rena and Mark Blumquist of Montana. Five sons and three daughters-in-laws, Tommy and Marilyn Hebb of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; Terry and Lori Hebb of Staunton, Va.; Timmy and Kim Hebb of Waynesboro, Va.; Kent Hebb and Jeff Hebb of Harrison, Va.
Twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother Milford Hebb of Whipple, Ohio; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce Nestor of Severna Park, Md.; Beulah and Rodney Burns of Parsons; Betty Bohon of Terra Alta.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alton Hebb and a sister Twyla Gullette.
His funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5. at the Lighthouse Church with Rev. Harold L. Wade of Churchville, Va. Interment followed at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Henry Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Joseph Lomanto ![]()
Joseph Lomanto, 83, of Thomas, passed away Nov. 8 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.
He was born Dec. 29, 1923, at Thomas, a son of the late Guy Lomanto and Josephine Barbera. He is survived by two sisters, Camay (Patrick) Popish of College Park, Md., and Josephine “Snookie” (Paul) Gennantonio of Highland, Md.; one sister-in-law, Lois Lomanto of Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, Phillip and James.
Mr. Lomanto was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and American Legion Post #22. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Korean Conflict. He was a coal miner and owner and operator of Joe’s Italian Supper Club in Thomas for many years.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. by KOC. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Don Higgs as celebrant. Interment followed in Mt., Calvary Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Linda Gail Phillips
Linda Gail Phillips, age 59 years, a resident of Frederick, Md., departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, after a courageous battle from complications of pancreatic cancer, in University of Maryland Medical Center at Baltimore.
She was born Monday, Nov. 24, 1947, at Austin, Texas, a daughter of the late Alfred C. Cato and Dorothy Neil Hadeler. She was united in marriage to Steve Phillips, who survives at Frederick, Md. They had celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one daughter: Stephanie Lear and husband Loren, and one grandson, Quinn Lear, all of Brunswick, Md.; her mother, Lorraine Cato of Chambersburg, Pa.; one sister, Nanci Niebauer of Brunswick, Md., one brother, James Cato and wife, SoHui, and nephew Mark of Fla; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was employed with Frederick County for 25 years, where a majority of her years of service were spent with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department, before she retired in December of 2005.
On Monday, Nov. 12th, in Parsons City Cemetery, a graveside service was conducted at 1 p.m. Pastor Allen D. Crosten officiated and interment followed. Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Linda Gail Phillips.
Bob L. Ramsey
Bob Lee Ramsey, age 68, a resident of St. George, departed this life late Wednesday evening, Nov. 7, 2007, surrounded by family, at his home. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born on Monday, May 15, 1939, at Parsons, the son of the late Charles
Lee Ramsey and Eunice Gay Baker Ramsey.
On September 13, 1958, at Oakland, Md., he was united in marriage to the former
Arlene Grace Knotts, who survives. They had celebrated 49 years of
marriage.
Also surviving are two sons, Terry Lynn Ramsey and wife Sherry Lynn of Morgantown and Kevin Scott Ramsey and Deborah Lynn Watring of Leadmine; two granddaughters, Haley Miriah and Jayden Paige Ramsey of Morgantown; two step granddaughters, Marcy Kay Stone of St. George and Jordan Leigh Alkire of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one son, Robert Neil Ramsey; two brothers, Jack and Bill Ramsey; and three sisters, Eloine McClain, Mary Lee Irvin and Jean Wade.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1957, of which he was well known for his athletic ability in Basketball. He worked as a supervisor at the Armour Leather Company until its closing. He was retired from Consol Coal Company, Potomac Mine and was a member of United Mine Workers Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and took great pride in his hunting dogs and the companionship of his fellow hunters. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. His granddaughters were the joy of his life. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at 1 p.m. Pastor Robert Leard officiated and interment followed in Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows. Donna K. Reed
Donna Kay Kerns Reed, age 56 years, a resident of Montrose, departed this life late Sunday evening, Nov. 11, at the Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been failing health for several years, and death was attributed to heart failure.
She was born Sunday, July 8, 1951, at Parsons, a daughter of the late Delanis “Dane” Warren Kerns and Elizabeth Guibord Kerns. On Jan. 1, 1970, at Parsons, she was married to Sylvanus Reed Jr., who survives at Montrose.
Also surviving is one daughter, Donna June Reed of Montrose; one granddaughter, Lydia Marie Reed, Montrose, one brother, C. Kenny Kerns and wife, Sherry, Elkins; three sisters, Patricia Pierce of Montrose, Joann Kerns of New Hampshire, and Norma Jean Kerns; and two special nephews, David Pierce and Bradley Kerns, both of Montrose.
Preceding her in death was one daughter Cindy Lou Reed; and her foster mother who raised her, Hazel Wiles Soult.
Donna was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1970, and she worked as a certified nurses’ assistant for the Tucker County Senior Center for several years until becoming disabled. She enjoyed making various baked goods and collecting hummingbirds.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Reverend Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery.
Dale B. White
Dale Brown White, age 82, a resident of St. George, WV, departed this life
early Monday morning, Nov. 12, 2007, in Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in
Clarksburg.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons
on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral
home parlor on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m.
Pastor Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow in St. George Cemetery at St. George. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Dale Brown White. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
