Samuel Blosser Sr.
Samuel Bruce Blosser Sr., 69, a resident of Long Street, Parsons, departed this life Sunday evening, April 15, 2007, at his home. He had been in declining health for the past two months and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Monday, Jan. 3, 1938, at Montrose, a son of the late William H. Blosser and Minnie E. Schoonover Blosser. On August 3, 1961, at Belington, he was married to the former Shirley Ann Browning, who survives. They celebrated forty four years of marriage.
Also surviving are three sons, Samuel Bruce Blosser, Terry Lee Blosser and wife Sheila and Larry Dee Blosser; one grandson, Walker Shane Lee Blosser, all of Parsons; two step-grandchildren, Ashley Crakes of Virginia, and Jason Crakes, of California; one brother, Billie Blosser and wife Violet of Weston; four sisters, Rose Simmons and husband Fred of Hambleton, Betty Hull and husband Carl of Buckhannon, Georgia McDaniels of Grafton and Bonnie Shingleton and husband Rich of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Wilfred Blosser, Willard
Blosser,
William Blosser and Jack Blosser; and four sisters, Mildred Hansford, Pauline
Miller, Juanita Martin and Wanda Newman.
He attended the schools of Pickens and Elkins. At the time of his death, he was employed by the West Virginia Department of
Highways. He was an avid gardener and outdoors man. He loved dogs and spending
time with his friends.
The family received friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday, April 17 from 4 to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Wednesday, April 18 at 1 p.m. The Rev. Leon Hevener will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Mountain Hospice, 1600 Crim Ave., Belington, W.Va. 26250. Junior Johnson ![]()
Junior Clark Johnson, 72, resident of Cottonwood, Az., passed away on Monday, January 1.
He was born March 18, 1934 to Harry and Leona (Godwin) Johnson in Parsons, where he grew up and graduated from Tucker County High School.
Junior proudly served his country as a Technician Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Satellite Controller in Civilian Space with General Electrics.
He enjoyed traveling and fishing. Junior loved Blue Grass music, of which he attended numerous festivals. He also enjoyed anything regarding the Civil War, and was extremely knowledgeable about such.
He is preceded in death by his son, John Michael Johnson; his parents; and all his siblings.
Junior leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Joyce M. Johnson of Cottonwood, Ariz.; his daughters, Elaine LeCours of Parsons, Debbie Johnson of Ridgely, Md., Julie Johnson-Kershaw of Ormond Beach, Fla., Leiann Small with her husband, Wesley of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Chandra Thomas with her husband, Brett of Camp Verde, Ariz.; as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 2:00pm.
Helen Moore
Helen Marie Crites Moore, 43, of Petersburg, passed away Friday, April 6 in Winchester, Va. from complications of a massive stroke.
She was born June 29, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Seymour and Lenora Leary Crites. She was married to Howard J. Moore who survives at Petersburg.
Also surviving is one daughter Marlena D. Moore of Montrose; six sisters Mrs. Jack (Pearl) Painter, Mrs. Roy (Dorothy) Walt and Christina White of Elkins, Angela Crites of Montrose and Mrs. Donald (Sharon) Morgan of Shinnston and Mrs. Donald (Penny) Regester of Meadowbrook; five brothers Thomas, George and David Crites all of Elkins, Gary Crites and wife Laura of Beverly and Ronald Crites and wife Nicole of Elkins; several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death was a sister Barbara McCauley; and several aunts and uncles.
Helen was employed by Pilgrim's Pride in Moorefield for several years.
Friends were received on Wednesday, April 11 at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 12 with Rev. Roy Waybright officiating. Interment followed in the Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Montrose. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins was in charge of the arrangements.
