Wilburn L. Fansler

Wilburn L. “Legs” Fansler, 90, of Davis, died March 10 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas.

He was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Thomas, a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Clarissa Jane Satterfield Fansler. On August 2, 1942, he was married to Freda Marie Govendich Fansler.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Jane (and Monte) Blacksberg of Gaithersburg, Md.; two grandsons, Robert Thomas Harris of Huntington and Randall Stewart Pitchford, II of Plano, Tx.; and a great-grandson, Randall Stewart Pitchford III.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilson, Cleveland and Bruce Fansler; and one sister, Virginia Fansler Suder.

He retired from the military as a Lt. Col. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the Davis United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Mar 18 at 11 a.m., at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. James Martin officiating.  Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  

Arlene Norris 

R. Arlene Norris, 78, died March 10, 2005 at Winter Haven, Fl.

She was born July 28, 1927, at St. George, A daughter of the late Amer W. Loughry and Leota L. Hovatter Loughry.  On August 29, 948, at the Central Methodist church in Fairmont, she was married to Victor Eugene Norris, who survives. 

Survivors include a daughter Vicki K. Marsh; a son Steven A. (and Glenda I.) Norris; two grandchildren Courtney L. (and Andrew) Vorwald and Jenna I. Norris; a great-grandson Harris M. Vorwald and a great-granddaughter Ruby Catherine Vorwald all of Mechanicsburg, Pa. 

She was preceded in death by a brother F. Darl Loughry and two grandsons Nathan A. Norris and Jason A. Norris.  

She was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church in Winter Haven, FL, where she was a member of the Covenant Sunday School Class and a member of the Morning Circle of United Methodist Women.  She was a service officer with NARFE national Association of Retired Federal Employees). 

Her body was cremated at her request. 

Maggie Pennington

Maggie May Pennington, 88, of Hambleton, passed away March 12 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home.

She was born July 15, 1916, in Accident, Md., a daughter of the late McClellan and Martha Annie Waybright Bennett.  On July 28, 1934, in Red House, Md., she was married to John finley Pennington, who preceded her in death. 

Survivors include three sons, Terrence (and Barbara) Pennington of Cambridge, Ohio, Gary Pennington of Hambleton and Roger Pennington of Parsons; two daughters, Dorris Knibb of Kirkland, Wa. and Virginia and Joseph Kisner of Limestone; three sisters Mabel Cassidy of Mt. Lake Park, MD., Ada Slaubaugh of Montrose and Annie Marcotte of Lowell, Ma.; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Pennington of Rock Creek, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Wesley, Henry, George and Frank Bennett; five sisters, Clara Bennett, Jennie Garrett, Mary Catherine Simmons, Leona Hanlon and Alta Slaubaugh; a daughter, Loretta Jean Pennington; and three sons, Eugene Kenton, Ronald Keith and Bernard Wayne Pennington.  

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on March 15. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 16 at Hinkle  Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. 

Tony McDonald Sr.

Tony C. McDonald Sr., 65, of Wichita Falls, died Feb. 15 2005 at his home in Clovis, New Mexico.  Death was attributed to emphysema caused by cigarette smoking. 

He was born May 12, 1939, a son of the late William Claude McDonald and the late Alma Crosten McDonald. . 

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Katherine "Kathy" McDonald; son Tony Claude McDonald Jr. of Holliday, Texas, Theresa "Terri" Elaine Allen of Henrietta, Texas and Andrea Alma Moore of Byers, Texas.   Grandchildren Amanda, Matthew, Kassie, David, Steven, Paden and Harley, all of Texas. Five sisters Wanda Evick of Parsons West Virginia, Alta Louella Ferruso of Catonsville, Maryland, Alma Annalue Wyatt of Tabb, Virginia;  Madonna Yvonne Tumblin of Winchester, Virginia; and Augustina 
"Gussie" McDonald Lee of Stephen City, Virginia. 

He was preceded in death by a sister, Atha Patricia McDonald, who died as an infant. 

Family and friends were received at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Tesas on the evening of February 18, 205.  A full military service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, Texas 

He was a 1957 graduate of Parsons High School.  Tony retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service to his country. 

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. 

Friends were received on Feb. 18 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home.  Graveside services were held on Feb. 19 at the Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, Texas.
