Everlyn E. Adams Jr.
Everlyn Elza Adams Jr., 82, of Route 1, Moatsville, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins.
He was born April 28, 1923, near Philippi, a son of the late Everlyn Elza and Loreda (Newman) Adams.
On March 20, 1943, he married the former Lillian Dalton, who preceded him in death April 20, 1976.
On Jan. 30, 1981, he married Beulah Mae (Croston) Kennedy, who survives at Route 1, Moatsville.
Also surviving are three sons, Everlyn Lee (Linda) Adams and Michael J. (Velma) Adams, all of Philippi and Lendell D. (Linda) Adams of Canton, Ohio; three stepsons, Hanson “Duke” (Alma) Kennedy and Teddy (Patricia) Kennedy, all of Philippi and Enoch Ricky (Connie) Kennedy of Moatsville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a foster son, John Harbin; four sisters, Lenora Coles, Lillian Harbin, Rosalee Margaret Mayle and Kathleen Hall; and five brothers, Gordon Adams, Jay Wilbur Adams, Burchell Adams, Dorsey Adams and Melvin Adams.
Mr. Adams held a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Alderson-Broaddus College and a master’s degree from West Virginia University. He held a Permanent Professional Administrative Certificate from the West Virginia Department of Education. He retired following an extensive career as classroom teacher and elementary and junior high school principal in the schools of Barbour County and until recently was actively involved in the operation of a family farm. Mr. Adams was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Force’s Headquarters 477th Composite Group. He was a member of Barbour Post 44, American Legion, the Barbour County Association of Retired School Employees and was a former member of the Philippi Lions Club. He attended the Olive Hill Wesley Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, from Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St., Philippi. The Rev. Winfield Mayle and the Rev. Menelus Mayle will officiate and interment will follow in the Adams section of the Welch Cemetery, where Barbour Post 44, American Legion will confer military rites.

John L. Adams
John L. Adams, 54, of Moundsville, passed away March 6, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. He was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer.
He was born in Elkins, Aug. 8, 1951, to Jack and Helen Adams, and was the grandson of Kennie and Eva Adams and Frank and Ila Jane Bohon Ailstock.
John is survived by his beloved son, Thomas, a student in Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother Helen; and his grandmother, Eva. He also leaves behind the very special love of his life, his earth angel, Cindy Yoho, her precious sons, Joey and Justin, whom he loved very much; and Cindy’s parents, Fred and Mary Miner. Also surviving are his brother, Kenneth Richard (Sue) Adams of Parkersburg and their daughters, Letitia (Joey) Walker, Kristen (Tony) Johnson and Jacqie Adams; his sister, Sue White and her sons, Levi and Grant; his sister, Debbie Adams of Bemis and her daughter, Michele (Tony) Carpenter and Rain Carpenter of Shadyside, Ohio.
John was baptized into the Christian faith in 1963 attending Graysville Methodist as a youth and presently the Harvest Baptist church in Moundsville. He was a 1970 graduate of John Marshall High School, a retired coal miner from Consol and a farmer at heart. He was an avid worker and supporter of John Marshall Band Parents. He couldn’t do enough for his band kids. John excelled at cooking and baking and loved to feed his family and friends.
He will forever be known as Uncle HeeHee, the name given to John by nieces, Michelle and Letitia, for the way he would laugh and play peek-a-boo with a twinkle in his eyes and a big smile on his face and love for all his nieces and nephews in his heart.
His spirit soared to heaven and his body was donated to The Human Gift Registry. His wish was that many will be cured by the knowledge gathered from his gift to mankind. Known by many as “Big John,” he was a gentleman, yes stern at times, but always a gentleman. A gentleman always knows when it’s time to leave and he peacefully passed away.
John requested that no formal services by conducted, however, you may say a prayer or do a kind act to honor this man. Verba L. Adams
Verba Lucille Knight Adams, 78, a resident of Georgetown Road, Dailey, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2006, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Saturday, Aug. 25, 1928, at Weston, a daughter of the late Dencil Knight and Sylbia Corbia Taylor Bragg Knight.
On Oct. 23, 1949, she was married to Robert L. Adams, who survives at Dailey.
Also surviving her are three sons, Phillip Michael Adams of Reston, Va., Jeff L. Adams and wife, Donna L., of Clifton, Va., and Gregory Scott Adams and wife, Lori, of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Dr. Paula Sue Adams of Kennesaw, Ga.; one brother, Carlis Knight, and one sister, Syble E. Genevie, both of Sun City, Fla.; six grandchildren, Sandra, Christi, Cortney, Ashley, Katlyn and Kasey; and three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Lexi and Brooke.
Verba was a graduate of Weston High School with the class of 1946 and was a homemaker. She was an avid bowler having bowled with the Virginia Queens in northern Virginia, was a member of the Elkins Bowling Leagues for more than 25 years, having served as the president of the Elkins Women’s Bowling Association for 15 years, and had attended National Senior Bowling Tournaments in Jacksonville, Fla., and Las Vegas, Nev., representing the state of West Virginia.

Carl T. Agnew
Carl Thompson Agnew, 86, of Bayard, died Monday, July 3, 2006, at his residence.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren in Bismarck. Kelly J. Alderman
Kelly Jean Alderman, 28, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend, passed away. Her death was sudden and unexpected.
She was a resident of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Morgantown and Buckhannon.
Born Aug. 31, 1977, at Buckhannon, she was the daughter of Randall Mark Alderman and the late Merry Christmas Calacino Alderman.
She is survived by her father, Randall Mark Alderman and his wife, Jerilyn, of Buckhannon; her sister, Amanda Gale Alderman of Stephens City, Va.; her grandmother, Lois Alderman of Buckhannon; four uncles, Gary Alderman and his wife, Jan, of Salem, Joe Calacino Jr. of Shady Spring, Bobby Calacino of Beckley and Toney Calacino of Knoxville, Tenn.; two stepsisters, Debra Drumheller of Thomas and Stephanie Drumheller of Charlottesville, Va.; several cousins; and many wonderful friends.
Also preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Joe and Helen Calacino of Shady Spring; and her paternal grandfather, Woodrow W. Alderman of Buckhannon.
Kelly graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1995. She was a hard worker and was pursuing an associate’s degree with the University of Phoenix in the field of information technology, one of her many passions. Kelly loved and was devoted to her family and friends. She had a generous heart and a love for computers, technology, rocks and crystals, animals, the beach, 80s music and all things Star Trek. Her talents included designing Web pages, creating jewelry, tending to her plants and exotic fish and helping her technologically challenged family and friends. Kelly will be sadly missed and will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

Olive E. Aldridge
Olive Ethel Aldridge, 91, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., formerly of Cumberland, Md., and Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, in Queens, N.Y.
Born July 21, 1915, at Ellerslie, Md., she was the daughter of the late Raymond Welthy and Mary Ellen (Swauger) George.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis W. Aldridge, in 1969.
Mrs. Aldridge had worked at Cumberland Celanese Plant. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, where she belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Circle. Mrs. Aldridge was a former member of the Zion United Church of Christ. She loved doing word searches.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Anne Dunn and husband, Tom, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Mary Ellen Biller and husband, Gary, of Buckhannon; her son, John Edward Aldridge and wife, Debbie, of Harrisburg, Pa.; one brother, Robert George of Norwood, Pa.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., at 202 Greene St. in Cumberland, Md., today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Roy Knight officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Rodney Biller, James Dunn, Thomas Dunn, John Wilson and Mark Biller. Wilford Allen Sr.
Wilford Allen Sr., 77, of Arden Road, Philippi, died early Wednesday morning, March 22, 2006, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born June 17, 1928, at Arden, a son of the late Commodore Trenton and Mary Elizabeth (Shaffer) Allen.
On June 27, 1947, he married the former Caroline Rosalie Scuzzi, who survives at Arden Road, Philippi.
Also surviving are one son, Wilford Joseph Allen of Philippi; four brothers, John Davis (Georgia) Allen of Philippi, Bretzel (Edna) Allen of Bridgeport, Jerry Dale (Carole) Allen of Ohio, Ill., and Arch Lynn Allen of Rosemount, Minn.; four sisters, Lolah Mae Bevilock of Grafton, Freda Elaine Price of Joppa, Md., Kathleen Mary (Forest) Ball of Baltimore, Md., and Janet Sue (Tony) Russ of Joliet, Ill.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Edith Roberta Allen; and by two brothers, Willis Lee Allen and William Imwood “Bill” Allen.
Mr. Allen was a retired auto body and fender repairman and had also worked as a machinist. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He served many years as a scout leader and scout master. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted from St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church, College Hill, Philippi, at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25. The Rev. Fr. Andy Kranyc will officiate and interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by Barbour Post 44 American Legion.
Friends may call at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday evening in the funeral home chapel.

Arthur Canter Alt, 93, a resident of 58 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend and formerly of Petersburg, died Oct. 16, 2006, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.
He was born Aug. 13, 1913, at Upper Tract, a son of the late Kenny H. Alt and Etta Virginia Lambert.
He was married to Martha Rebecca Hedrick of Elkins.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rosalie Leatherman of Alamagordo, N.M., and Elinor Evans of Beverly; one son, Arthur “Buddy” Alt Jr. of Valley Bend; two sisters, Bessie Kimble of Buckhannon and Elsie Hedrick of Petersburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert.
He was the retired owner and operator of Alt’s Body Shop in Petersburg. He was a member of Memorial Church of the Brethren in Petersburg. He was a lifetime member of Odd Fellows of Petersburg and Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Basagic Funeral Home at Petersburg. Raymond C. Alt
Raymond Clinton Alt, 88, of Landes, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg.
He is survived by children, Dennis and Shelby Alt of Beverly.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Rotruck officiating. Interment will follow in the Alt Family Cemetery at Landes. Stanley E. Alt
Stanley Edwin Alt, 86, of Petersburg, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Grant Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Phillips and Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg. Phyllis R. Altieri
Phyllis Rae Chamber Altieri was born July 4, 1926, and died Sept. 24, 2006.
Phyllis lived a remarkable life, dedicated to her profession, family, friends, the arts, literature and a passion for travel. In the end, she was admired for the dignity and courage she faced in multiple health challenges.
She was raised in Hagerstown, Md. She graduated from Hagerstown High School, and in 1947, she received her degree in nursing. She was director of Cancer Care Corp of West Virginia. In the late 1960s, she relocated to Pensacola, Fla., where she worked briefly at Sacred Heart Hospital. The remainder of her career was spent at Baptist Behavior Medicine as a clinical nurse for 20 years.
Phyllis was a member of the original board of directors for Community Concerts with a love for classical music, opera and ballet. Following her retirement, she relocated briefly to Buckhannon where she became involved in the Red Hat Society, Woman’s Club and church activities. She returned to Pensacola and lived the remainder of her life at the Veranda’s in West Pensacola. An avid world traveler, she visited Mexico, Italy, Portugal, China and Hong Kong. She will be remembered for her warm and generous hospitality and culinary skills as well as her passion for giving and loyalty as a friend.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Ira B. and Verona G. Chambers; her only brother, Mark B. Chambers; former husband Nick Altieri; and brothers-in-law, Roy L. Hess and Arthur Moore.
She is survived by her son, Ira Joseph Altieri of Buckhannon; sisters, Joan Bost of Pensacola and Charlotte Moore of Tallahassee, Fla.; nieces, Shelly Kampe and husband, Kurt, Nina Campbell and husband, Jamie, Sharon Hess Herrick and husband, Doug, Linda Frohock and husband, Wallace; nephew, Gregory A. Hess of Pensecola, Randall Moore and wife, Patti, of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-nieces Kristen Kampe, Wesley Campbell, Marlis Herrick, Meghan Frohock and Amanda Woodall; great-nephews, Kurt Kampe IV, Brent Kampe, Scott Kampe, Strouse Campbell, Blake Campbell and John Roy IIess.
Following cremation, a memorial celebration of life will be at Pensacola Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Upshur County Hospice and the Upshur County Dog Pound. From 27 Sep 2006.

Robert A. Amie Sr.
Robert Arthur Amie Sr., 70, a resident of Montrose, went home to be with our Lord Thursday morning, Nov. 30, 2006, in Pocahontas Center Nursing Home at Marlinton, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sunday, Feb. 2, 1936, at St. George, the third son and seventh child of 12 of the late Arch Amie and Hilma Waybright Amie.
Surviving Mr. Amie are two brothers and two sisters, Arch Amie Jr. of St. George, Harry Amie of Ohio, Lettie Bell Amie Showalter of the Moore Community and Delphia Amie Snyder of Montrose; three children, Ruth Amie Pullin of Huntington, Robert Amie Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Roberta Amie Wall of Layton, Ohio; two stepchildren, Walter Connell of the Moore Community and Wanda Connell VanDyke of Gulf Port, Miss.; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Auvil, Sandra Moran Simmons, April Moran Renolds, Brittany Moran, Sheena Bolinger, Monica Moran, Taryn Wall, Thomas Bolinger, Christian Wall and Coalton Wall; two great-grandchildren, Irish Simmons and Dolton Auvil; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Preceding him in death was a special friend, Dolly Summerfield; three brothers, Harold Waybright, David Amie and James Amie; four sisters, Laura Amie, Ettie Amie, Stella Amie Jones and Rosa Amie.
He attended the schools at Clover Run and Parsons. Mr. Amie joined the Armed Forces of the United States of America on Feb. 8, 1955, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1963, at the rank of specialist fourth class. He retired as a truck driver for Guttman Oil Co. of Beverly. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He attended Sugar Grove Church at Bull Run, St. George. He loved his family deeply.

Marguerite Amorese
Marguerite Mansfield Amorese, 88, a former resident of Whiteman Avenue, Elkins, and more recently a resident of Valentine’s Personal Care Home in Elkins, departed this life Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2006.
She was born Saturday, May 25, 1918, at Evanston, Ill., a daughter of the late Ernest Mansfield and Helen Mansfield.
Surviving are three sons, Roger Amorese of Elkins, Carl Amorese and wife, Rebecca, of Elkins and John Amorese and wife, Jane, of Jane Lew; two grandsons, Preston Amorese of Philippi and Travis Amorese of Jane Lew; two granddaughters, Nicole Hudson of Fairmont and Shannon Amorese of Tennessee; and one great-granddaughter, Aryssa Hudson of Fairmont.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Amorese; and one sister, Mildred Mansfield.
She was a graduate of Evanston High School and Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill. She had worked as a state and federal court reporter at Charleston, Elkins, Parkersburg and Wheeling. She was a former member of the Elkins Woman’s Club and the National Court Stenographers.

Mary F. Anderegg
Mary Feola Anderegg, 83, a resident of Buckhannon, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at her home in Buckhannon.
She was born Aug. 29, 1922, at Wildcat, a daughter of the late Sam Feola and Louisa DeAnglis Feola.
She was married to Robert J. “Tony” Anderegg, who preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1985.
Surviving are one son, Robert Jacob Anderegg and wife, Cheryl, of Buckhannon; one daughter, Janet A. Williamson and husband, Bob, of Parkersburg; one grandson, Jacob Cameron Anderegg of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Jennifer Christine Frye and husband, Chad, of Buckhannon; two great-granddaughters, Carolina Frye and Madelyn Frye, both of Buckhannon; one brother, Junior “Gus” Feola of Buckhannon; and two sisters, Ida Amalfitano of Buckhannon and Katie Hinkle of McLean, Va.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Dominic Feola, Sam Feola and Frank Feola.
She was the owner of Anderegg Jewelry Store and attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a member of Buckhannon Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3663 Ladies Auxiliary.

Madlene Virginia “Maddie” Markley Anderson, 86, a resident of Route 4, the Boulder community, Buckhannon, departed this life peacefully Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at her home.
She was born June 27, 1919, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Letcher and Annie (Thorne) Markley.
She was united in marriage July 3, 1935 to Howard Bacil “Jake” Anderson, who preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Margie and husband, Richard “Dick” Crane, and Karen Anderson, all of Hobe Sound, Fla.; two sons, Larry and wife, Jeanette Anderson, of Buckhannon and Curtis “Curt” Anderson, who made his home with his mother and companion, B.J. Rogers, of Wilmington, N.C.; one sister, Beulah “Boo” Anderson of Boulder Community; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by one son, James “Jim” Anderson; one daughter, Ellen “Ellie” Irvin; and two brothers, Vincent and James Markley.
Mrs. Anderson attended the Boulder United Methodist Church and was a homemaker who loved tending flowers and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the service hour with the Rev. Thomas “Tom” Paul Anderson, 39, of Rock Cave, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at Sago, a son of David Anderson of Hacker Valley and the late Dessie Fisher Anderson.
He was united in marriage April 5, 1991, to Lynda Hyre Anderson, who survives.
He is also survived by sons, Thomas Issac Anderson at home, Randy W. Liggett and wife, Jena, of Rock Cave and Mitchell A. Liggett and wife, Stephanie, of Buckhannon. He is also survived by grandchildren, Sarah, Bradely, Jesseka and Caleb Liggett. He is also survived by his grandmother, Alma Anderson of Hacker Valley. He is survived by four brothers, Wayne and wife, Earlene Anderson, of Hacker Valley, Rich and wife, Tammy Anderson, of French Creek, Jeff and wife, Donna Anderson, of Kanawha Head and Bill and wife, Bernica Davis, of Mill Creek; one sister, Peggy and husband, Ron Quinn, of Hacker Valley; six nephews, Adam, Michael, Aaron, Ken, David and Hunter. Several aunts and uncles survive.
He was preceded in death by one son, Caleb Paul Anderson; his paternal grandfather, Paul Anderson; and maternal grandparents, Lester and Fanny Fisher.
Tom was a wonderful husband and father, he enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing and he was a Christian by faith. He attended the Church of God in Lewis County.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Randy Hughs officiating. Following services in Buckhannon, the body will be moved to the Hacker Valley Baptist Church for services at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Ware Cemetery in Webster County. Joseph Russell Andrick, 70, of Route 1, Buckhannon,, died at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at his home in Buckhannon.
He was born Oct. 31, 1936, at Buckhannon, a son of the late Corbin William Andrick and Brenice Mae Bennett Andrick.
On June 20, 1960, he was married to Marthella Coralee Queen Andrick, who survives at Buckhannon.
Also surviving are four sons, Joseph Russell Andrick II and wife, Laura, of Blue Springs, Mo., Michael Christopher Andrick of Saint Charles, Mo., Robert William Andrick and James Wilson Andrick and wife, Paula, all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Ann Marie (Andrick) Lofton and husband, Cleavon, of Buckhannon; his twin sister, Mary Elizabeth Emery and husband, Lewis, of Alliance, Ohio; one brother, John Lloyd Andrick and wife, Katie, of Hyattsville, Md.; and 11 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Corbin William Andrick Jr., James Howard Andrick and Paul Wesley Andrick; and one granddaughter, Sabrina Thomas.
He was an estimator with Moore Business Forms. He attended South Buckhannon Mission Church, was a member of Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598, Hodgesville Lions Club and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Thelma V. Andrews
Thelma Valla Parks Gainer Andrews, 94, a resident of Colonial Place, passed away at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 27, 1912, at Pheasant Run, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Grover C. Parks and Lillian M. Summerfield Parks.
She was twice married, first on Aug. 3, 1929, at Oakland, Md., she was married to William Jennings Bryan Gainer, who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1978. On April 30, 1981, she was married to Arley B. “A.B.” Andrews, who preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1994.
She is survived by three stepsons, James Andrews and wife, Illa, of The Villages, Fla., Gene Andrews and wife, Inga, of New Freedom, Pa., and John Andrews and wife, Mary, of Aiken, S.C. One stepbrother, Delbert Davis and wife, Gerry, of Elkins; four stepgrandchildren, Brian Andrews of Washington, D.C., Allison Teweles of Charlottesville, Va., Allen Andrews of Baltimore, Md., and Christopher Andrews of Colorado; two stepgreat-grandchildren and a very special friend, Betty Patton of Elkins, also survive.
Mrs. Andrews was a member of Randolph County Senior Center and sang with the Melody Chorus of the center. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church of Elkins.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Israel Cemetery with Rev. Leon Hevener officiating. Interment will follow. William C. Andrus
William Charles Andrus, 71, of Buckhannon, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in United Hospital Center at Clarksburg, of myelodysplastic syndrome/acute leukemia.
He was born June 25, 1934, at Takoma Park, Md., a son of the late Lucian Miller and Mary Katherine Page Andrus.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patty Tenney Andrus, daughter of Wendell and the late Freda Kelley Tenney, whom he married Jan. 26, 1965 at Rockville, Md.
He is survived by one son, Jeff and daughter-in-law, Pamela Andrus, of York, S.C.; and one daughter, Wendy Andrus of Buckhannon. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Jason and Michelle Andrus of York, S.C. and one sister, Mary Ellen and brother-in-law, Charles May, of Laurel, Md.
He was preceded in death by one son, Patrick Andrus.
Mr. Andrus served in the U.S. Army for two years. He enjoyed ham radio, traveling, watching television, farming and John Deere tractors. He attained a degree in industrial arts from Central Michigan University. He was retired from the Upshur County Board of Education where he worked as a custodian. Past places of employment included Weston State Hospital and Corhart’s. He was a Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. officiating. Wilbert Lee “Sonny” Annon, 77, of Route 2, Philippi, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, in Ruby Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born July 5, 1929, at Tacy, a son of the late George Ansel Annon and the late Ruie Ruth Boyles Auvil.
His wife, the former Wanda Lee Kirk, survives at Belington.
Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda Lea Keller of Outer Banks, N.C., Dottie Parsons and husband, Michael, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Lisa Reneé Knight and husband, Keith, of Philippi; a half brother, George P. “Buddy” Annon of Cape Charles, Va.; three grandchildren, William Marshall Keller of Hampton, Va., Shanna Leigh Bridge of Inwood and Dylan Keith Knight of Philippi; great- grandchildren, Mason Aaron Bridge, Aubrey June Bridge, Jarod Michael Bridge and Lindsey Reneé Keller; several nieces and nephews including, Julia Morrison and Glenn Auvil, both of Philippi, Loretta Williams of Champagne, Ill.; and his faithful canine companions, “Babe” and “Joy.”
He was also preceded in death by a half brother, Clyde Melvin Auvil.
Mr. Annon was a lifelong farmer and was a retired school bus operator for Barbour County. He was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church and Barbour County Retired School Service Personnel.

Betty Lou Antolini, 82, a former resident of the Buckhannon Pike, Norton, and more recently a resident of 1719 S. Davis Ave., Elkins, where she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Anna Marie and “Tyke” Kyle, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 22, 2006, at her home.
She was born Dec. 16, 1924, at Weaver, a daughter of the late George and Lulu Phillips Corley.
On July 16, 1941 she married Patsy James “Pat” Antolini, who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Robert Joseph Antolini and wife, Martha, of Morgantown; a daughter, Anna Marie Kyle and husband, “Tyke,” of Elkins; a sister, Josephine McQuain of Arlington, Va.; two brothers, Montford Corley and wife, Bernice, of Richmond, Va., and Steve Corley and wife, Anita, of Belington. Grandchildren surviving include Jim Antolini, wife, Stella, and son, Vinnie, of Sacramento, Calif., George Antolini, and wife, Suzanne, and children, John P., Jacob and Jessica, Christina Marra and husband, Dean, and son, Tyler, of Clarksburg, Fred Antolini, and wife, Kathaine, and son, John Michael, of Buckhannon, Dr. Ryan Antolini of Boston, Mass., and Kristen Antolini of Morgantown.
Also preceding her in death were three sons, Sgt. James V. Antolini, John Michael Antolini and Frederick Vincent Antolini; and two brothers, Richard “Dick” Corley and Woodrow Corley.
Mrs. Antolini was a graduate of Belington High School with the class of 1941. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her flowers, cooking and time spent with her family. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church at Coalton.

She was born Friday, Sept. 10, 1915, at Harding, a daughter of the late Rocco Sainato and Delia Frances Ashe Sainato.
On Dec. 19, 1936, she was married to Dr. Carl J. Antolini Sr., who preceded her in death June 10, 1985.
Surviving are one son, Carl John “Sonny” Antolini Jr. and wife, Andrea, of Elkins; one daughter, Mary Frances Antolini of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three brothers, Joseph Sainato and wife, Nancy, of Youngstown, Ohio, Nick Sainato and wife, Inez, of Barberton, Ohio, and Sammy Sainato and wife, Rose, of Westover; three grandchildren, Carl J. Antolini III and wife, Heather, of Parkersburg, Lisa Ann Morris and husband, Gene, of Summersville and Michael A. Antolini and wife, Jo Ann, of Knightdale, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, Michael L., Elizabeth, Audrey, Jack and Nicholas Antolini and Allison Morris; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Hannah and Katie Thorpe.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Frank, Victor, Dominick and Ernest Sainato.
She attended the schools of Harding and was named “Mrs. Elkins of 1957” by the Junior Department of the Woman’s Club of Elkins. She was the first holder of the title of “Mrs. Elkins.” She was a charter member of the Elkins Jayceettes, which were organized in 1949. She held many major offices through the years and had worked on virtually every committee within the organization. She was named “Jayceette of the Year” in 1962-1963 and was the 1974-1975 and 1980-1981 Service Award winner. She also received her 25th Year Anniversary Pin in 1974. She was also a member of the Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the West Virginia State Dental Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener and was well known for her culinary skills. She was a lifelong member of the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Guild and the Altar Society of her church.

Carrie Rachel Wegman Arbogast, 80, a resident of Gateway Apartments, Elkins, departed this life Monday evening, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Davis Memorial Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1926, at Adolph, a daughter of the late Jacob French Wegman and Monnie Gay Wiseman Wegman.
On Nov. 13, 1947, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Arlin “Bube” Arbogast, who preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2002.
Surviving her are five sons, Delmas Johnson and wife, Virginia, of Kerens, Allen Arbogast and wife, Janet, of Elkins, Gary Arbogast and wife, Debra, of Norton, Marvin Arbogast and James Arbogast, both of Elkins; one daughter, Geraldine Robers of Milton, Fla.; two daughters-in-law, Linda Pritt of Ozark, Ala., and Dorothy Arbogast of El Paso, Texas; one brother, Dick Wegman of Adolph, one sister, Flossie Louk of Petersburg, Va.; 18 grandchildren, Penny, Tracy, Stoney, Linda, April, Joey, Matt, Dianne, Lisa, Susie, Roger Jr., Tammy, Kristie, Steve, Greg, Adam, Brittany and Ryan; 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are four sons, Roger Pritt, Danny Arbogast, and infants Raymond and Lewis Arbogast; one daughter, Glenda King; four brothers, Henry, Robert, Bud and Howard Wegman; three sisters, Fannie Holt, Bessie Teter and Cora McCauley; and two grandchildren, Delmas Johnson Jr. and Jeffrey Arbogast.
She attended Bradley Mountain School and had worked as a nurse’s aide for Memorial General Hospital and for the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, where she also worked as a kitchen aide, having retired in 1986. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Oct. 19, at noon. Pastor Bryan M. Headley will officiate and interment will follow at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery.

Daniel Arbogast Jr.
Daniel Ray “Danny” Arbogast Jr., 34, a resident of Galloway, passed away Dec. 11, 2006, at Galloway.
He was born Jan. 21, 1972, at Clarksburg, a son of the late Daniel Ray Arbogast Sr. and the late Mary Ellen Davisson Arbogast.
On Jan. 22, 2005, he was married to Kelly Louise Carpenter Hose, who survives at Mabie.
Also surviving are three sons, Jonathan Tyler, Daniel Ray III and David Aaron Arbogast, all of Charleston; a daughter, Sarah Jo Arbogast of Belington; and a stepdaughter, Rachel Louise Hose of Belington. Danny and Kelly were expecting another child. Also surviving are a sister, Margeret Green of Galloway; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol June and Harold Glenn Bright of Parsons; and Kelly’s grandparents, Charlie “Pap” Skinner Sr. and Edna June “Grammy” Skinner, both of Mabie. Several other family members and friends also survive.
Also preceding him in death were a sister, Amemphis Jewel Arbogast; a daughter, Beth Branae Marie Arbogast; and a stepson, Damien Ryan Carpenter.
Danny was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his wife and family, and was employed by Union Drilling in Galloway.

Danny L. Arbogast, 44, a resident of 4357 Loma DeLuna, El Paso, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, in El Paso.
He was born June 13, 1961, at Elkins, a son of the late Arlin (Bube) Arbogast and Carrie Rachel Wegman Arbogast, who survives in Elkins.
On Dec. 26, 1981, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy (Dotty) Carder who survives in El Paso.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brittany Arbogast, and a son, Ryan Arbogast, both at home; one sister, Jerri Robers of Milton, Fla.; and five brothers, Gary Arbogast and wife, Debbie, Marvin Arbogast, James (Jamie) Arbogast, Allen Arbogast and wife, Janet, all of Elkins, and Delmas Johnson and wife, Ginny, of Kerens. Preceding him in death besides his father were a sister, Glenda King; a brother, Roger Pritt; and his mother- and father-in-law, Buck and Leta Mae Carder.
Danny was a business manager for United Parcel Service for 19 years. He was a graduate of Elkins High School and a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in El Paso.
Danny loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved coming back to West Virginia to go camping and four-wheeling with his brothers and friends. He loved his church and participated in all church activities. Danny also loved to read his bible and doing devotionals. He was a special person and will be sadly missed by all the lives he touched.
Friends will be received at the F. E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 6 after 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Tuesday, March 7 at 11 a.m. Pastor William Mitchell of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in El Paso will officiate. Katherine S. Arbogast, 51, of Tunnelton, died Saturday, July 8, 2006, in Preston Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 13, 1954, at Elkins, the daughter of the late Luther and Delphia Taylor Cogar.
She was Protestant by faith and had worked as a licensed practical nurse at Freehold Rehab and Nursing Center in Freehold, N.J. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she enjoyed crafts, bingo, auctions and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 28 years, Jerry J. Arbogast; three sons, Mark Daff and wife, Dayla, of West Monroe, La., Michael Daff of Kingwood and Timothy Daff and wife, Cindy, of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Kathy Jo Collins and husband, Dewayne, of Kingwood; three stepsons, Brian Rankin of Baltimore, Md., Jerry Joe Arbogast and Philip Arbogast, both of Elkins; one stepdaughter, Mary C. Arbogast of Elkins; two brothers, Don Cogar of Russelvile, Ark., and Lonnie Cogar of Masontown; two sisters, Linda Johnson of Denver and Luella Haskiell of Belington; and 16 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Lawrence W. Arbogast
The Rev. Lawrence William Arbogast, 79, a resident of Tallman Avenue, Elkins, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, April 18, 2006, in Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center at Clarksburg. He had been in declining health although death was unexpected.
He was born Monday, Aug. 23, 1926, at Beverly, a son of the late Mason Clark Arbogast and Lilly Blanche Taylor Arbogast. He was married to the former Hattie Lee Clingerman, who survives. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda Wilfong and husband, Allen, of Montrose, Barb Arbogast of Oceana; one son, Larry Arbogast and wife, Delores, of Oceana; two grandsons, Larry Arbogast Jr. of Oceana and Patrick Wilfong of Montrose; three granddaughters, Allison Wilfong and fiance, Patrick O’Brien, of Montrose; Nikki Arbogast and fiance, Joshua Lester, of Oceana and Holly Runyon and fiance, Clay Dillon of Oceana; two great-grandsons, Kameron and Konnor; one brother, Virgil “Dick” Arbogast of Palm Springs, Calif.; one sister, Iva Shreve of Beverly; several nieces and nephews, his faithful pet and constant companion, “Lyndsay;” and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were two brothers, Willis and Clarence Arbogast; and one sister, Kathleen Arbogast.
He attended the schools of Randolph County and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, receiving the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Army’s German Occupation Medal. He was a West Virginia State Evangelist in 1962 and was a Church of God pastor for several churches in West Virginia and Maryland. He enjoyed his garden, hunting and fishing and loved people, his life, his family and all of his animal friends.

Pearl Bryan Arbogast, 95, a former resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at the residence of Brad and Joy Arbogast, where she had made her home for the past three years after a fire in her home.

Pearle B. Arbogast
Pearle Bryan Arbogast, 95, a former resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at the home of Brad and Joy Arbogast, where she had made her home for the past three years following a fire at her residence.
Born Nov. 22, 1910, in Gilmer County, she was the daughter of the late Perry Daniel and Sarilda Alice Jones Johnson.
On April 13, 1933, she was united in marriage to Clarence Alvin Arbogast, who preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1996. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary that year.
Pearle is survived by two daughters, Ruth Holmes and husband, Charles, of Pentress and Faye Salisbury and husband, James, of Mill Creek; two sons, Allan Arbogast and wife, Betty, and Brad Arbogast and wife, Joy, all of Mill Creek. Stacy White was a special homemaker. Joy had been Miss Pearle’s special care taker and a very special daughter.
Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two daughters, Eloise Scheitlin and Helen Watkins; four sisters, Maggie Swiger, Jessie Arbogast, Myrtle Kirkpatrick and Mae Hammonds; three brothers, William Johnson, Cletus Johnson and Arthur Johnson; two sons-in-law, Lewis Scheitlin and Harold Watkins; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Pearle and her family moved to Mill Creek when she was a child. In 1938 after marrying, Pearle and her husband were one of the first settlers of the Arthurdale Homestead. She was a homemaker and although legally blind, she still knitted and crocheted, even crocheting until two weeks ago when her health started to decline. Miss Pearle loved dish gardens, silk flowers and any type of flower that could be replanted. She was one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Pearle loved her family and friends and spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and will remain in their hearts forever.

Rhoda I. Arbogast
Rhoda I. “Mable” Arbogast, 85, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 14, 1921, at Elkins, a daughter of the late James William Arbogast and Rhoda Bell Clifton Arbogast.
She was never married.
She is survived by two brothers, Howard Lee Arbogast of Rootstown, Ohio and Eldridge Elden Arbogast of Mill Creek, who made his home with Mable for the past 26 years; and two sisters; Mrs. Denver (Jewell) Bright of Elkins and Mrs. Norris (Alice) Brown of Alabama. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, James William Arbogast Jr., Brenton Franklin Arbogast and infant, Daniel Allen Arbogast; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Carrie Arbogast Stalnaker and Mrs. Hazel Marie Arbogast Friend.
Mable was employed at Davis & Elkins College for more than 19 years. She also cared for families in their homes and raised two great-nieces and one great-nephew. She was an active member of Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church and the Women’s Prayer Group of the church. She was a dear friend to all who knew her. She was like a mother to many and will be sadly missed.

Howard Leon Arbough, 69, a resident of Harman, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 3, 2006.
He was born June 26, 1937, at Whitmer, a son of the late Price Arbough and Geneva Nelson Mullenax.
On Oct. 27, 1984, he married the former Linda Joyce Vawter, who survives at Harman.
Also surviving are four sons, Mark Bennett and wife Vickie, of Harman, Hullet “Bunny” Arbough and wife Leslie, of Job, Marshall Arbough of Thomas and Dennis Arbough of Whitmer; four daughters, Rebecca Arbough of Harman, Reba Woods and husband, George, of Elkins, Rita Bennett and husband, George “Cellon” Bennett, of Job and Burnadette Bennett of Brushy Run; stepchildren, Lisa Day of Harman, Linda Barb and husband, Amos, of Fox Run, Va., James Harper and Lori Teter of Harman. Also surviving are brothers, Joe Nelson and wife, Nancy, and Harry Nelson and wife, Mabel Ruth, of Newport News, Va., Richard Nelson and wife, Mary, of Winchester, Va., Ray Nelson and wife, Dorothy, of Whitmer and sister, Sylvia Richards of Bridgewater, Va. Grandchildren surviving are Zach Baker, Sarah Woods, Cody Arbough, Billy Almond, Jason Hedrick and Priscilla Wolfe. Stepgrandchildren surviving include Karen Harper, Chelsea, Natasha and Travis Day.

He attended the schools of Randolph County and was a farmer. Mr. Arbough was a member of the Job Church of God. He loved people, going to church, reading his Bible and watching westerns. He loved his cat Roscoe.

Billy M. Armentrout, born June 9, 1933, at Webster Spring, departed his earthly life Sunday, April 16, 2006, in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Buckhannon.
Billy leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Lou Grose Armentrout of Buckhannon, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 24, 2005.
Also, he leaves four sisters, Marguerite Bon of Lodi, Ohio, Phyllis A. Holloway of Buckhannon, Edith Williams of Point Pleasant and Sharon K. Weaver of Jane Lew; and four brothers, Hunter F. Armentrout of Troy, John E. Armentrout of Berkeley Springs, Richard E. Armentrout of Beckley and Henry L. Armentrout of Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest R. Armentrout and Mildred Armentrout; and one brother, Forrest Robert Armentrout.
Easter Sunday was a glorious reunion day. Billy will also be remembered in life by numerous nieces and nephews, including Billy and Mary Lou’s adoptive family; his niece, Brenda C. Scranta and husband, Bernard C., and children, Cory A. and Shayla N. Surface of Tunkhannock, Pa., as well as many friends in West Virginia, Elyria, Ohio, and Ft. Myers and Bokeelia, Fla.
He was a member of Pine Island United Methodist Church in Bokeelia, Fla., and served in the U.S. Army.

Hazel Armentrout
Hazel Rennix Armentrout, 82, a resident of Glady and a patient in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at the center. She was born July 7, 1924, at Glady, the only child of Lester Howard Rennix and Eula Vint Rennix.
She was married to Harry Ward Armentrout, who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2004.
She is survived by three children, Harry L. Armentrout and wife, Libby, of Beverly, Barbara Rahn and husband, Fred, of Farmingville, N.Y., and William “Bill” Armentrout and wife, Sandra of Pinch. Five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Armentrout was a 1942 graduate of Elkins High School. She was a homemaker, a Presbyterian by faith and a member of Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star.

Melvin Armentrout
Mr. Melvin Paul Armentrout, 88, a former resident of Locust Street in Belington and more recently a resident of Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, departed this life at 5:28 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at the care center. He had been in declining health for quite some time.
He was born March 31, 1918, at Whitmer, a son of the late Benjamin C. and Bertha J. Vance Armentrout.
On July 25, 1941, at Radford, Va., he was united in marriage to the former Beulah Hamblin, who survives at their residence in Belington.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Armentrout is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Phillips of Belington and Bonnie Cox of Elkins; five sisters, Nellie Digman and Edith Trozzo, both of Cumberland, Md., Betty Dolly, Kathleen Wilmoth and Bernice Haller, all of Belington. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles L. and Carl Armentrout; one infant sister; one infant brother; and two sons-in-law, Ralph Cox Sr. and Neil Phillips.
Mr. Armentrout attended the schools of Barbour County, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on Dec. 7, 1941. Later, he was stationed in Germany serving with the Battery B 67th FA Battalion the 3rd Armored Division, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart from a shrapnel wound. Some of the shrapnel remained with him throughout his life. Mr. Armentrout worked in the CCC camps, and retired from Lab Craft Inc. in Beverly where he had worked in the supply department. He was a member of American Legion Post 96 of Belington, a lifetime member of the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Elkins, a lifetime member of Belington Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Westside United Methodist Church where he in sang in the choir and the church quartet.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Baer Jr., the Rev. Leon Heavener and the Rev. Walter Blough officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery where the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi and American Legion Post 96 of Belington will conduct full military honors. Gloria Armstrong
Gloria Clare Armstrong, formerly of Easy Street and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas, passed from this life Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2006, at the nursing home.
She was the wife and only love of Billie G. Armstrong since Aug. 25, 1946.
Gloria was born Jan. 26, 1923, at St. George, to Arthur and Marie Cupp Nestor who preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband, surviving are one niece, Priscilla (Nestor) Flanagan and husband, Jim, and one sister-in-law, Juanita Nestor, all of St. George. Also surviving are several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Also preceding her in death were one brother, Francis Woodrow Nestor; one sister, Phyllis (Nestor) Byrne; and two nieces, Judy (Nestor) Elmore and Susie (Nestor) Carpenter.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1941.

Judy S. Armstrong, 60, a resident of Valley Bend, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 28, 2006, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Oct. 31, 1945, at Baker, a daughter of the late Walter H. Webster and Elizabeth Miller Litten.
She was married to Burton “Sonny” Armstrong, who survives at Valley Bend.
Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey S. Vetter and wife, Janice, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two stepdaughters, Sonya Armstrong of Atlanta, Ga., and Tammy Kyle of Houston, Texas. Two brothers, Winfred “Buddy” Webster of Falls Church, Va., and Charles R. Webster of Baker; three sisters, Pauline “Polly” Tusing and Mattie Tusing both of Baker and Peggy Riggleman of Moorefield; a stepsister, Virginia Allen; a grandson, Alex Vetter; and two stepgrandchildren, DeKrisha and Dylan Kyle, also survive.
Judy was employed in the business office at Huttonsville Correctional Center, was an active member of Mill Creek Presbyterian Church and had been active at Tyrand Cooperative Ministries. She was formerly active as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America at Moorefield for several years.

Judy S. Armstrong, 60, a resident of Valley Bend, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 28, 2006, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Oct. 31, 1945, at Baker, a daughter of the late Walter H. Webster and Elizabeth Miller Litten.
She was married to Burton “Sonny” Armstrong, who survives at Valley Bend.
Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey S. Vetter and wife, Janice, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two stepdaughters, Sonya Armstrong of Atlanta, Ga., and Tammy Kyle of Houston, Texas. Two brothers, Winfred “Buddy” Webster of Falls Church, Va.., and Charles R. Webster of Baker; three sisters, Pauline “Polly” Tusing and Mattie Tusing both of Baker, and Peggy Riggleman of Moorefield; a stepsister, Virginia Allen; a grandson, Alex Vetter; and two stepgrandchildren, DeKrisha and Dylan Kyle, also survive.
Judy was employed in the business office at Huttonsville Correctional Center, was an active member of Mill Creek Presbyterian Church and had been active at Tyrand Cooperative Ministries. She was formerly active as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America at Moorefield for several years.
Friends were received from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Today, she was moved to Mill Creek Presbyterian Church where friends were received from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour. Dr. Robert J. Delcie Agnes Vance Ashby, 91, a resident of Parsons and more recently a resident of the Colonial Place at Elkins, departed this life Thursday morning, May 18, 2006, at Colonial Place. She had been in declining health.
She was born Thursday, June 4, 1914, at Hacker’s Valley, a daughter of the late George Vance and Alcie Cowger Vance.
On May 5, 1934, at St. George, she was married to Howard Wesley Ashby, who preceded her in death March 21, 2006.
Surviving are one son, Dale Ashby and wife, Elnor, of Parsons; one daughter, Patty Ann Wotring and husband, Ray, of the Blackman Flats community; one sister, Ruth Teets of Oakland, Md.; five grandchildren, Kathy, Steve, John, Jeff and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one infant son; one brother, Clay Vance; and one sister, Elsie Vance.
She attended the schools of Webster and Randolph counties. She was a homemaker and attended the Parsons Church of God.

Howard W. Ashby
Howard Wesley Ashby, 92, a well-known educator of Tucker County, a resident of Parsons, and more recently a resident of Colonial Place at Elkins, departed this life Tuesday evening, March 21, 2006, in the Colonial Place. He had been in declining health.
He was born Sunday, Feb. 8, 1914, at St. George, a son of the late Daniel Boyd Ashby and Emma White Ashby.
On May 5, 1934, at St. George, he was married to the former Delcie Agnes Vance, who survives in Colonial Place. They had celebrated 71 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Howard Dale Ashby and wife, Elnor, of Parsons; one daughter, Patty Ann Wotring and husband, Ray, of the Blackman Flats community; one sister, Mary Ballowe of Winchester, Va.; five grandchildren, Kathy, Steve, John, Jeff and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren, nine great- great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one infant son; one brother, Paul Ashby; and one sister, Grace Snider.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1931. He received his teaching certificate from Glenville State Teacher’s College. He received his bachelor of art degree from Davis & Elkins College during 1950. During 1951, he received his master’s in education from West Virginia University. He taught school for 18 years in Tucker County, in the one-room schools including Limestone and the Murphy School on Pifer Mountain. He ended his career as a math teacher from Parsons High School. He was an avid gardener, well known for his produce and blue ribbons at the West Virginia State Fair and the Tucker County Fair. He attended the Parsons Church of God.

Roberta P. August
Roberta Phelps August, 73, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, 2006, in Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health.
She was born Monday, May 16, 1932, at Sommerset, Ky., a daughter of the late Bennie C. Phelps and Hulda Stodgsdill Phelps.
She was twice married. First, to Lawrence Sanders, who preceded her in death in 1983, and second, to George August, who preceded her in death in 1990.
Surviving her are four sons, Larry E. Sanders and wife, Sue, of Franklin, N.C., James L. Sanders of Elkins, Tim August and wife, Jennifer, of Cedar Springs, Mich., and Shane August and wife, Shelly, of Elkins; four daughters, Francis Ann Long of Griffin, Ga., Linda G. Sanders of Tampa, Fla., Leanna Sanders and companion, Randy, of Elkins, and Lysa Gearhart-August of Barberton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Shannon, Ashley, Samantha, Tracy, Eric, Carissa, Jason, and Kelly Sanders, Elizabeth and Danielle August, Marla, Georgie, and Roger Long, and James Gearhart; 15 great-grandchildren; and her longtime companion, John “Butch” Kyle.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husbands were two brothers, James and Donald Phelps; and two sisters, Mary Schreffler and Karen Swartz. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She attended the schools of Sommerset, Ky., and worked as a cook for the Randolph County Schools for many years, retiring in 1991. She was a volunteer and member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion Auxiliary and the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Mrs. August’s request for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m. at H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. Eileen E. Avington
Eileen Elizabeth Avington, 93, of Parkersburg, died June 3, 2006, in St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born Aug. 13, 1912, at Churchtown, Washington County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Dyar McDermott.
She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1931 and St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1934. She worked in the nursing fields of both private duty and industrial. She retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital after a number of years running the recovery room. She was a member of the West Virginia Nurses Association, where she held office in the association and was also a member of the St. Joseph’s Alumni Association. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was active as a Eucharist minister for the sick and shut-ins. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society at the church and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was an active supporter of the Parkersburg Catholic Schools activities, especially the sports program. She was also a member of the Wood County Democratic Women’s Club.
She is survived by her son, M. David Avington, M.D., and wife, Dee, of Parkersburg; two granddaughters, Carla Lehman and husband, Paul, of Columbia, S.C., and Bethany Atkinson and husband, Tom, of Atlanta, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Grace, Lydia and Dexter Lehman and Luke Thomas Atkinson; one sister, Margaret McCaffrey and husband, Robert, of Troy, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl D. Avington; brother, Dion McDermott; and three sisters, Marie Rose, Jeanette Owens and Emma Carlisle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Casey Mahone as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. John Thomas Aylestock, 71, a resident of Sterling, Va., passed away Monday, April 17, 2006, at his home.
He was born Dec. 30, 1934, at Buckhannon, a son of the late Parley Samuel and Nola Avis Gould Aylestock.
He was married to Judy Aylestock, who resides in Sterling, Va. Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Aylestock Myhre and husband, Scott, of Uganda and Janie Aylestock Biggerstaff and husband, Steve, of Matthews, N.C. Four brothers, Carl and Edwin Aylestock both of Clarksburg, Woodford Aylestock of Buckhannon and Harold Aylestock of Berryville, Va.; three sisters, Lavaun Bournn and Natalie Lawson, both of Ashburn, Va., and Ann Young of Winchester, Va.; and eight grandchildren, Luke, Caleb, Julia and Jack Myhre and Emma, Joshua, Noah and Micah Biggerstaff also survive.
Mr. Aylestock was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School with the class of 1953 and a 1957 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1960. He had resided in Northern Virginia since 1960 and was the owner and president of the Loudoun Tunneling Co. for 35 years. The Aylestock family enjoyed spending time at their place in Sago, where they hosted the annual Aylestock family reunion.
