Mary Gale Haderman, 66, a resident of 9 First St., Elkins, departed this life Thursday afternoon, March 10, 2005, after an extended illness at the residence of her son, Raymond C. Haderman II at Junior.

Mary Gale Teter Haderman, 66, a resident of 9 First St., Elkins, departed this life Thursday afternoon, March 10, 2005, after an extended illness, at the residence of her son, Raymond C. Haderman II at Junior.
She was born Sunday, Jan. 25, 1939, at Elkins, a daughter of Roy Teter of Elkins and the late Roeta Cross Teter.
She was married to Raymond Carroll Haderman, who preceded her in death in 1974.
She is survived by three sons, Raymond C. Haderman II and wife, Mary E., of Junior, Eric C. Haderman of Baltimore, Md., and Michael C. Haderman of Elkins; one daughter, Albany C. Haderman of Morgantown; one sister, Barbara Fuhrman and husband, Jack, of Elkins; and eight grandchildren, Joshua Haderman of Morgantown, Amanda, Christine, Janie, Raymond III and John Haderman, all of Junior, and Madison and Michael Haderman, both of Elkins.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and mother was one son, Matthew.
She attended the schools of Barbour County and had owned and operated the former Hair Harvest.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Monday at 10 a.m. where the Rev. Father William Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Gardens of Faith in Baltimore, Md., where the Rev. Father Gerald Hynes will officiate. Eunice V. Hall
Eunice Virginia Barb Hall, 85, of Buckhannon and formerly of Petersburg, passed away Friday, May 20, 2005, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born June 16, 1919, in Hardy County, a daughter of the late Ashby Jacob Barb and Cora Elizabeth Ratliff Barb.
She is survived by five sons, Marvin Hall of Buckhannon, Austin Junior Hall of Piney, Raymond Hall of Buckhannon, Norman Hall of Martinsburg and Roger Hall of Antioch; two daughters, Mae Arnold of Grafton and Hope Harper of Buckhannon; one sister, Faye Kesner of Purgitsville; one brother, Allen Barb of Moorefield; and 14 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Mearl Hall, on Oct. 29, 2001. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, an infant grandson, an infant great-grandson, and three brothers and three sisters.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a cook at the senior center in Petersburg for several years.
Friends will be received today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home. Mary K. Hall
Mary Kathleen Hall, 86, of Route 5, Buckhannon, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
She was born Nov. 7, 1918, in Philippi, a daughter of the late Elza Everlyn Adams and Loreda Newman Adams.
On Jan. 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Hall, who preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1992.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Wright and husband, George, of Buckhannon; one son, Richard William “Bill” Hall of Buckhannon; one grandson, Ricky Wright and wife, Gloria, of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Leslie Wright and husband, Anthony Munro, of Atlanta, Ga.; one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Chenoweth of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, C.H. Chenoweth of Atlanta, Ga.; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Everlyn Adams of Philippi; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Burchell Adams, Jay Wilber Adams, Dorsey E. Adams, Henry Gordon Adams and Melvin S. Adams; and three sisters, Rosalee M. Mayle, Lenora Coles and Lillian Harbin.
She was a homemaker and attended Reger United Methodist Church of Teter.

Shirley A. Hall
Shirley A. Hall, 70, a resident of 1370 Old Woman Run, Sutton, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at her home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1934, at Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Howard McCoy and Ruth Gibson McCoy.
She was married to Albert Hall, who preceded her in death June 29, 1994.
She is survived by her companion, Paul Hall, of Sutton; two daughters, Charlene Lewis of Clendenin and Marsha Bourgeous of Huntington; one stepdaughter, Kay Nixon of Libby, Mont.; one brother, Donald McCoy of New Martinsville; and seven grandchildren.
She was a school teacher at Hackers Creek and Libby, Mont.

Betty L. Haller
Betty L. Reed Haller, 75, a resident of 300 Glade Ave., passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Ohio, a daughter of the late Glen and Arlene Booth Reed.
She was united in marriage to Calvin Berl Haller, who preceded her in death July 27, 1978.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald Haller and wife, Pam, of Moatsville, Doug Haller and wife, Sandra, of Philippi and Phillip Haller and Cecilia Lake of Arden; one sister, Shirley Semmelman; three grandchildren, Tracy Haller Minor and husband, Eric, of Weirton, Christina Haller of Triangle, Va. and Chad Haller of Clarksburg; and one very special great-granddaughter, Arden Claire of Weirton.
Mrs. Haller was a retired from Pruntytown Industrial Home for Boys and had previously worked as a teacher’s aide at Arden Elementary and was a clerk at Nestors Key Market. She enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors and will be sadly missed by all. She was a member of Arden United Methodist Church.

Joe R. Haller
Joe Ray Haller, 84, of Red Lion, Pa., passed into eternal life Thursday morning, June 2, 2005, at his residence.
He was the companion of Dorothy Leonard and the former husband of Joan E. Haller of Elkins.
Mr. Haller was born in Parsons, Tucker County, Aug. 1, 1920, the son of the late Ray and Wilma Murphy Haller.
Mr. Haller was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising pheasants and chickens, and watching and attending baseball games with his family.
Mr. Haller is also survived by two sons, Donald R. Haller, husband of Betty, of Delaware, and David M. Haller, husband of Pat, of Shrewsbury, Pa.; two daughters, Pamela D. Bowen, wife of Rick, of Baltimore, Md., and Cynthia D. Weyant, wife of Will, of Dillsburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Geneva Irving, Rachel Pingley and Nancy Haller, all of Elkins; and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Haller was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held today at Grace United Methodist Church, 473 Plank Road, Shrewsbury, Pa. Burial will be private. Ralph N. Haller
Ralph Neil Haller, 82, a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington and formerly of 603 Gall Ave. in Belington, departed this life at 12:20 p.m. Sunday Jan. 9. 2005, at the nursing center following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 12, 1922, at Belington, a son of the late Ralph and Zelma Loleta Ware Haller.
He was twice married, first to the former Jeanette Becker, who survives. Then on Nov. 15, 1975, at the Westside United Methodist Church in Belington, he was united in marriage to the former Bernice Gae Armentrout Moore, who survives at their home in Belington.
He is survived by three sons, Neil Haller Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., Dave Haller of Long View, Wash., and Clayton Moore, of Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, Norman Haller of Belington; one grandson, Drake Moore; and one granddaughter, Avery Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Harley Haller.
He was a 1942 graduate of the Belington High School, and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He had spent many years in Texas working in sales until his return to West Virginia in 1974. Upon his return, he then was employed in the furniture business working for Ralph’s Furniture, Val’s Furniture and Bates Furniture. He and his wife, Bernice, were owner and operator of Haller’s Restaurant in Belington in the late 1970s, and he served two terms as Belington City Councilman. He was a member of the Laurel Mt. Post 410 in Belington, and was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 96 in Belington, and a member of the Westside United Methodist Church in Belington.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Arden Beck and the Rev. Rose “Jo” McCartney officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi. Charles L. Halterman, 85, of 306 Highland Ave., Petersburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Grant County Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Schaeffer Funeral Home. James O. Halverson
James Oswald Halverson, 76, of Buckhannon passed away on May 23, 2005, at the Holbrook Nursing Home.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1928, in Menomonie, Wis., the son of the Oswald and Gena Husby Halverson. 
On June 16, 1956, James married Lillian Jessie Smith in a double ceremony with Lil’s sister Mildren and Kenneth Brighum. 
He is survived by his wife Lillian and daughters: Lynda and Gregory Selan of Plainfield, Ill., and Sara and Michael Kenefick of Hilliard, Ohio; son Steven and Sally Halverson of Carol Stream, Ill.; one brother David Halverson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and one sister-in-law Jane Halverson of Denver, Colo. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Nicholas, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Elliott, and Margaret Selan, Kristofer and Sydney Kenefick, and Trent, Trevor and Troy Halverson. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Palmer and Paul Halverson.
Jim graduated from the Menomonie High School and attended The Stout Institute in Menomonie, Wis. In 1947, he joined his father, who had a general insurance agency. Later, he and his wife owned and operated a coin-operated laundry and dry-cleaners.  In 1970, the family moved to Buckhannon. Jim graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1974. He was employed by the West Virginia State Tax Department as an appraiser and mapper for fifteen years.
James was a member of the Menonmonie Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a member and past president of the Buckhannon Kiwanis Club and a past District Lt. Governor of Kiwanis. He was a member of the Buckhannon Lions Club and served as chairman of the Sight Committee. He was also a member of the Buckhannon Chapter of AARP. James was an active member of the Buckhannon First United Methodist Church, holding various offices of leadership and he was an active supporter of the Parish House. He was treasurer for 12 years for Pack 128 Boy Scouts of America.
As requested by the deceased, James was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contribution be made to the Walls - Halverson Scholarship Funs at West Viriginia Wesleyan College, to the Parish House or to the Buckhannon Lions Club Sight Fund.  Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  From 25 May 2005.

Jenneve M. Hamilton
Jenneve Mae Hamilton, 90, a resident of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon
She was born April 16, 1915, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Nathan Goff Hinkle and Carmie Phillips Hinkle.
On Feb. 15, 1936, she was married to Jesse J. Hamilton, who preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1993.
Surviving are three brothers, Paul Eugene Hinkle and Gerald Hinkle, both of Buckhannon and Ellis Burl Hinkle of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker and attended Hampton United Methodist Church.

Mary Jane Hamilton, 94, a resident of Buckhannon, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at Nella’s Nursing Home at Crystal Springs, where she had made her home for the last 11 years.
She was born June 3, 1911, at Hackers Creek, a daughter of the late Edgar C. Reeder and Gertrude Ann Ervin Reader.
On Feb. 7, 1930, she was married to Winferd W. Hamilton, who preceded her in death May 9, 1982.
Surviving are two daughters, Winifred J. Hoover of Buckhannon and Barbara Ann Diehl of Orrville, Ohio; four sons, Earl Hamilton and wife, Virginia, of Stow, Ohio, James K. Hamilton and wife, Shirley, of Alabaster, Ala., Samuel E. Hamilton and wife, Judi, of Chester, Va., and Bill Hamilton and wife, Sue, of Buckhannon; 13 grandchildren, one stepgrandson, 25 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were one son, Joseph Neal Hamilton; one grandson, Jonathan; four brothers, Charles, James, Robert and Jesse; and three sisters, Madge, Marie and Tressie.
She was a member of Sand Run Baptist Church and a former 4-H leader for the Daysville 4-H Club. Mary was employed at Ward’s Laundry and Dry Cleaners for years and later worked as a custodian for the Upshur County Courthouse, where she retired in 1974.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sand Run Baptist Church with the Rev. He attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Wheeling Barber College. He was employed for many years as a barber and as assistant manager at the Elkins and Philippi Hecks Stores. He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways as an inspector, He served in the U.S. Army with 101st Airborne in Korea. He was a member of Beech Mountain Hunt Club and was a former member of West Virginia Highlanders. He was an active member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church and the church choir and had received A Special Mission Recognition from the United Methodist Women.

Debra A. Hamman
Debra Ann Eddy Hamman of Snowshoe passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 9, 1956, at Grafton, to Richard and Joann Eddy, who survive in Marlinton.
Debra graduated from Pocahontas County High School in 1975. She was a member of Marlinton United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in her children’s many activities which included 4-H, cheerleading, Cub Scouts, bake sales, crafts, baseball and football.
She is survived by her husband, David Lynn Hamman, daughter, Jessica Lynn, and son, Derek Allen, all of Snowshoe; brother, David Eddy of Camby, Ind., and his sons, Josh and Jacob; and sister, Carolyn and husband, Mark Beverage of Parkersburg, and their son, Brian, and daughter, Kim. Also surviving are father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Doris Hamman of Buckhannon; sister-in-law, Amelia Hall and son, Jeremy, of Buckhannon; brother-in-law, William and wife, Elizabeth Hamman, of Winchester, Va., daughter, Hillary, and sons, Nick and Josh; and brother-in-law, Jeffery Hamman of Buckhannon.
There will be no visitation but a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Chapel on Snowshoe Mountain. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in the name of Derek A. Arthur Hammonds
Arthur “Art” Hammonds, 79, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born March 24, 1926, at Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Currence and Mintie Louk Hammonds.
On Dec. 22, 1945, in Baltimore, Md., he was united in marriage to the former Bernice L. McDaniel, who survives at Huttonsville. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December.
Besides his wife, Art is survived by three daughters, Angela F. Hammond and Terry L. Oswald, both of Pasadena, Md., and Sandra K. Swayze and husband, Jud, of Bremerton, Wash.; three sons, Jack Hammonds of Mill Creek, John A. Hammonds and wife, Debbie, of Martinsburg and Dennis L. Hammonds of Kent Island, Md.; and two brothers, Harold Hammonds and wife, Mary, of Canton, Ohio, and Jack Hammonds and wife, Tete, of Navarre, Ohio. Also surviving are one granddaughter, six grandsons, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were one daughter, Mary Louise Hammonds; one son, C. Vincent Hammonds; two sisters, Sis Ward and Jean Myers; and four brothers, Roe, Verl, Delmar and Bill Hammonds.
Art retired from Bethlehem Steel after 32 years of service as a boat captain in Baltimore. He was then employed by North Arundel Hospital for 10 years. He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve and also served on the Huttonsville Town Council. Art was an active member of the Tygart Valley Baptist Church. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman, he loved playing the guitar and banjo and singing with his brothers. He was also well known at church for his beautiful voice. Art also loved playing cards with his “buddies” and most of all spending time with his family and friends. His death has left a huge void in the hearts of his family and friends, however he will remain in their hearts forever.

Gloria R. Hamner
Gloria Rae Hamner, 70, a resident of 3 Swisher St., Buckhannon, died at 9:56 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at her home.
She was born July 8, 1934, at Sago, a daughter of the late Lyle Hamner and Bernice Tenney Hamner.
She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Allman of Wellsburg and Wilma J. Phillips and husband, John F., of French Creek; a close friend, Frances Lynch of Buckhannon; four nephews; five nieces and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Hamner; and one brother-in-law, Wilford C. Allman.
She was a member of Buckhannon Business and Professional Women, serving as president in 1984. She attended various classes and graduated from the School of Banking of the South. She taught several classes for the American Institute on Banking under the direction of Fairmont State College. She was a banker in Adrian, Buckhannon and Harrison County and a Methodist by faith.

Margaret Hamner
Margaret Hamner, 66, a resident of Gassaway, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
She was Born July 18, 1938, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Owen "Peach" McKenzie and Roxie Sines McKenzie.
On April 3, 1966, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Hamner, who survives in Gassaway.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. and Mahalia Hamner of Gassaway; one granddaughter, Laina McKenzie Hamner of Gassaway; three sisters, Mrs. Sed (Rozella) Ezell of Cordele, Ga., Mrs. Charles (Doris) Jones of Martinsburg and Mrs. Danny (Nettie) Lane of Woodbridge, Va.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Janet Hamner of Indian Camp, Linda Reaser of Harrisville, Hearlon and Dorothy Radcliff, Roger and Pat Hamner, Paul and Elizabeth Hamner and Junior and Debbie Hamner, all of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cherished friends.
She was a graduate of the Tennerton Division of Buckhannon Upshur High School with the class of 1957 and was a member of the Sago Baptist Church.

Grace Huff Hampton, 86, of HC 32, Box 63 L, Upper Tract, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at her residence.

Jerry W. Handley
Jerry Wayne Handley, 58, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 7, 2005, in the emergency department of Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 2, 1946, at Huntington, a son of Madge Handley Cales, who survives and the late Clyde Robert Handley.
On Dec. 20, 1969, in Puerto Rico, he was married to the former Carmen Isaura Ruberte, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Jerry Dwayne Handley, who is a graduate student at West Virginia University at Morgantown; and his twin brother, Terry Lee Handley, of Beckley.
Jerry was a graduate of Anderson College in Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in social work. He worked as an air traffic control specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration for 31 years prior to his retirement. Jerry dedicated his life to serve, listen and counsel others in the only way he could. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Puerto Rico and Columbia. He was an avid reader since childhood. Because of his love for reading, his main goal while in Columbia was to establish a library in an isolated community. While he was in Elkins, he coached minor league baseball for two seasons.
The Handley family received friends Sunday, Oct. 9, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. At Jerry’s request, his remains will be cremated. William N. Haney Sr.
William Norman Haney Sr., 74, of Circleville died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 9, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Samuel William and Dorothy McGregor Haney.
In 1972, he married the former Rose Ann “Dee” Buchan, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Norman Haney II of Philadelphia, Pa., and Thomas Francis Haney of Prescott, Wisc.; two sisters, Mary L. Bauer and Carol Ann Sandridge, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; four grandchildren, Sean, Mark, Erick and Rachel; and one great-granddaughter, Madalyn Rose.
Mr. Haney was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran, having served in Korea. He was also a welder and mechanic as well as an autobody repairman and painter. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans and the Spruce Mountain Ruritan Club.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. A prayer service will take place at 7 p.m Monday. Joanne D. Haney
Joanne D. Haney, 83, a resident of Route 9, Buckhannon, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
She was born Jan. 31, 1922, at Weston, the daughter of the late Joseph F. Hager and Reta P. Hinkle Hager.
She was married to William Chester Haney, who preceded her in death April 16, 1976.
Surviving are two cousins, Shurld Hinkle of Akron, Ohio, and Clark Hinkle of Jacksonville, Fla; and friend, Morgan Perry of Buckhannon.
She was a professor at Alderson-Broaddus College and attended Hampton United Methodist Church.

Eula Vivian Kenney Hannah, 73, a resident of Route 1, Beverly, the East Dailey community, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. She had been in declining health but death was unexpected.
She was born Aug. 2, 1931, at Valley Head, a daughter of the late Thurman John and Cary Winifred Snyder Kenney.
She was married April 9, 1950, to Glen G. Hannah, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2003.
Surviving are one daughter, Debra J. Butcher and husband, Bruce, of East Dailey community; two sons, Gary Glen Hannah and wife, Diana, of Beverly and Ronald Neil Hannah and wife, Crystal, of Belington; four grandchildren, Matthew Alan Morgan Butcher, Andrew Wade Wilson Butcher, Elisabeth Hannah Jo Butcher and Kyle Roy Brison Hannah; four brothers, Donald Monford Kenney and wife, Beverly, of Cantoment, Fla., John Roy Kenney and wife, Joyce, of Macedonia, Ohio, Paul Lee Kenney and wife, Dorothy, of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Thurman Steven Kenney and wife, Betty, of St. Louisville, Ohio; and three sisters, Shirley Jo Swecker of Valley Head, Dorothy Jean Hamrick of Huttonsville and Kathleen Faye Iselin and husband, Barry, of Grafton, Ohio.
Mrs. Hannah graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in 1949 and was active in helping organize class reunions. She was employed at Reidboard Brothers, The Bata Shoe Co., C&J’s Dairy King and later retired from Nella’s Nursing Home. In the past years, she enjoyed helping organize the Valley Head Homecoming by researching and writing various articles for the newspaper. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she was a loyal member and historian of the choir. She was also a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. Eula will be greatly missed by everyone she came in touch with, and will be fondly remembered by how she enjoyed reading, helping with church functions, singing with the choir, dinner out, shopping, but mostly how she enjoyed being surrounded by her grandchildren.

Darrell Haney
Darrell “Big Red” Haney, 49, a resident of 345 Blaine Ave., Elkins, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at his home. His death was attributed to cancer.
Born Aug. 25, 1955, in Elkins, he was the son of the late Carl E. Haney and Lorene Rush Haney, who survives in Elkins.
On March 6, 1981, he was united in marriage to the former Deborah McCauley, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeremiah and Emmanuel Haney, and one daughter, Mindy Haney and fiancÈ, Donald, all of whom reside at home with their mother; two sisters, Twila Conrad and friend, Gary, of Huttonsville and Debbie Chandler and friend, Tim, of Snowshoe; four brothers, John and wife, Joyce, of East Daily, Mitchell and wife, Patty, of Elkins, Greg and wife, Donna, of Elkins and Donald and Patrina Haney of Belington. In addition he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Frank McCauley, his father-in-law, also survives in Elkins.
Preceding him in death, besides his father was his mother-in-law, Linda McCauley.
Darrell was formerly employed by V-Dot State Road of Madison, Va., for several years. He was also a member of the Job Corps. A member of the Refuge Church of Stalnaker Run, he was a Protestant by faith. Darrell loved talking on the CB and he was well known by his handle of “Big Red.” He loved working on vehicles, going to antique car shows, assembling models of cars, and collecting eagles. Darrell was a very loving, caring and giving man. He will be sadly missed but will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Friends will be received Thursday at 6 p.m. at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Friday at 1 p.m. The Rev. David J. Harmer
David Jennings Harmer, 78, a resident of Shinnston, passed away in his home Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, following an extended illness.
He was born in Shinnston Aug. 17, 1927, the son of the late Edgar J. and Besse Hess Harmer.
David is survived by his wife, Melba Jo Yates Harmer, whom he married June 12, 1951; four children and spouses, Eve Zirkle, of Shinnston, Jay and Pam Harmer of Shinnston, Gwen and Gary Kerns of Elkins, and Leslie and Steve Haning of Shinnston; eight grandchildren, Miranda, Jeremy and Jacob Harmer of Shinnston, Courtney Zirkle of Shinnston, Alissa and Jared Kerns of Elkins, Paige and Hayley Haning of Shinnston; one sister, Elizabeth Susan Harmer Rector of Wilmington, Del.; one nephew and spouse, Mark and Susan Rector of Wilmington, Del.; and several cousins, including Harriet Harmer of Shinnston; as well as an extended family and many good friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, as well as his brother-in-law, Robert Rector, of Wilmington, Del.
Mr. Harmer graduated from Shinnston High School as class president in 1945. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in July 1946. He graduated from West Virginia University as the senior class president in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. The class of 1950 was the largest graduating class at WVU up to that time. While he was there, he served in the ROTC, played trumpet in the marching band and was selected by faculty to serve on the WVU Mountaineer Week Team as a student recruiter for the university. David joined Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and served as its president in 1949 and 1950. At the same time, he also became president of the Interfraternity Council at the University. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Air Force because of the Korean War and was discharged in 1951. He returned to Shinnston in 1953 after graduating from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and became a full-time funeral director at the Harmer Funeral Home with his father. The family owned and operated funeral home is 151 years old, consisting of five generations. David was the fourth generation and was later joined by his son Jay, establishing the fifth generation when he was licensed in 1986. David was president of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association in 1963-1964 and served after that as secretary-treasurer of the association for 18 years. He was a member of the West Virginia Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, where he served as its president for three years after being appointed by the governor. On June 18, 2003, David was awarded West Virginia Funeral Director of the Year.
David Harmer became a mascot, nicknamed “Kingfish,” by the members of the Shinnston Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 6. He served for more than 60 years. For 33 years, he served as fire chief, one of the longest periods of service in a fire department in West Virginia. Former West Virginia Gov. Gaston Caperton awarded him the Distinguished West Virginian Award upon his retirement as chief of the fire department in 1993. In 2001, the present fire department was named the David J. Harmer Building by the membership, in honor of former Chief Harmer. In July 2005, David was named as chief emeritus. For 20 years he was president of the Harrison County Fire Chief’s Association, predecessor of the present Harrison County Emergency Service.
In 1954, he was a member of the first citizen’s committee, representing Northern Harrison County on Education in Harrison County, that passed the first school tax levy in 1955. Some of the benefits were the addition of a cafeteria at Shinnston Grade School, a new roof on Shinnston High School and free textbooks.
Mr. Harmer was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church and the WVU Alumni Association. He had been inducted into the Shinnston High School Hall of Fame and the West Virginia University Emeritus Club. He had been a longtime supporter of WVU, Lincoln High School and Shinnston High School. Mr. Harmer served as first president of the Shinnston Area Development Association, formed in 1954. He served as the first president of the Shinnston Board of Park Commissioners, who built the first public swimming pool in Shinnston out of the abandoned filtration plant in 1956. He was also instrumental in developing the first Shinnston swim team. David served as a member of the Shinnston City Council in the 1970s and was involved in the revitalization and rebuilding of the city water system, which was instrumental in acquiring the Class Four fire rating in 1983. Mr. Harmer served on the board of directors of the Bank of Shinnston, was a member of the Business and Professional Men’s Club and the Shinnston Kiwanis Club.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston, Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Clyde Harper
Clyde Harper, 84, a resident of Route 3, Box 361, Buckhannon, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
He was born April 17, 1920, at Frame, a son of the late Lewis Harper and Emily Catherine Combs Harper.
On Nov. 13, 1945, he was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Wolfe Harper, who preceded him in death Jan. 20, 2004.
Surviving are five sons, Bobby Fields and wife, Hilda, of Washington, Lewis “Lou” Harper and wife, Arlene, of French Creek, Clyde Wayne Harper and wife, Barbara, of Ellamore, Rick Harper of Buckhannon and Roger Harper of Marseilles, Fla.; four daughters, Carol Silvester and husband, Tony, of Coalton, Joyce Reed and husband, Ron, of Buckhannon, Sharon Helms and husband, Steve of Newton, N.C., and Sue Given and husband, Gary, of Buckhannon; two sisters, Lessa Newhouse and Edith Newhouse, both of Cowen; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wolfe of Elkview and Eva Wolfe of Charleston; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Tressa Clendennin and Belva Shaffer; and two brothers, Howard Harper and Evert Harper.
He was an oil field worker, truck driver and farmer. He was a member of Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3662, Buckhannon Chapter 5 Disabled American Veterans, National Rifle Association and North American Fishing Club. He was a veteran of World War II and an ex-Prisoner of War. He was a Baptist by faith.

Creola Harper
Creola Crystal Harper, 86, of Riverton, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.
She was born Feb. 25, 1918, at Dunmore and was the daughter of the late Christopher W. Dilley and Daisey Sharp Dilley.
She was a homemaker and had worked at Franklin Garment Co. She was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church.
On Oct. 8, 1942, she married Harlen H. Harper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Thompson of Winchester, Va., and Patsy Weese of Franklin; three sons, Thomas Harper of Riverton, Conley Harper of Lubbock, Texas, and Stanley Harper of Riverton; one brother, Kyle Dilley of Charleston; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter.
Friends may call at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Grover C. Harper
Grover Carlton Harper, 87, of Harrisonburg, Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.
Born Jan. 5, 1918, in Randolph County, he was a son of the late Arlie and Texie Jane Harper.
Mr. Harper was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II, and was a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of the Eagles 4150 and was affiliated with Rion-Bowman Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 632 in Harrisonburg, Va.
He was previously married to Elsie Teter Harper, who preceded him in death. On March 27, 1945, he married Sally Elizabeth Cooper, who preceded him in death Sept. 25, 1990.
Also preceding him in death were one son Randall Harper; two daughters, Joyce Barrix and Phyliss Paugh; one brother, John Harper; and two grandsons, Brent Morris and Christopher Allen Morris.
Survivors include two sons, Grover L. Harper of Harrisonburg, Va., and Carlton Harper of Elkins; five daughters, Karen Murphy and Linda Rogers, both of Harrisonburg, Va., Sherry Morris of Grottoes, Va., Sandy Englehart of Bethesda, Md., and Janie Ours of Harman; one sister, Vallie Goots of Elkins; 26 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, Va. A graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jacob Harper Family Cemetery in Harman with the Rev. Joe Mininger officiating. Retired Air Force Capt. James Ray Harper, 72, a former resident of Buckhannon and more recently a resident of Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs, departed this life early Thursday morning, Sept. 8, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health.
He was born Monday, Dec. 19, 1932, at Upshur County, a son of the late Verle E. Harper and Myrtle Goodwin Harper.
He was married to the former Rosella Gassanola Harper, who preceded him in death June 12, 2001.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Eye and husband, Eddie, of Charleston and Kay Riggleman and husband, Kenneth, of Elkins; one brother, Verle E. “Elmo” Harper and wife, Dee Ann, of Elkins; six nieces; four nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
James was a graduate of Elkins High School and Davis & Elkins College. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of captain and had retired from the United States Postal Service at Akron, Ohio. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Buckhannon.

Robert L. Harper Jr.
Robert Lee Harper Jr., 27, a resident of Alpena, passed away Friday evening, July 22, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 3, 1977, in Elkins, a son of Robert Lee Harper Sr. and Elizabeth Carr Harper of Alpena.
Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Cora Jane Carr of Wymer; two brothers, Thomas Allen Harper and companion, Kay Daniels, of Bowden and Jeffery Michael Harper, at home; two nieces, Brittany and Holly Harper; and three uncles, Jerry Harper of Alpena, Edgar “Sonny” Carr of Wymer and Leslie Carr and wife, Rhonda, of Elkins.
Also preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Edgar Lee Carr; paternal grandparents, John and Evelyn Harper; and an aunt, Cora Lee Carr.
Robert attended the schools of Randolph County and was disabled due to his illness. He was an avid sports and race fan and was a member of the Job Church of God. He will be sadly missed by many friends and loved ones.

Jeanette Harris-Beck
Jeanette Harris-Beck, 83, a resident of 128 Guy St., Elkins, departed this life Sunday morning, Jan. 30, 2005, comfortably, at Davis Memorial Hospital with her close family at her bedside. She had been in declining health.
She was born Friday, July 1, 1921, at Glady, a daughter of the late Raphael Simeon Harris and Lena Bowers-Harris.
She met the love of her life, Archie F. Beck, and became joined in marriage on June 13, 1942. Together, they made their home in Elkins until Mr. Beck passed away Oct. 12, 1968.
Surviving family members include two sons, Danny Beck with wife, Sheryl, and Fredrick Lee Beck Sr. and Jean Beck-Thomas; and the joy of her life, her grandchildren, Andy, Aaron, Fredrick Lee Jr., and William J. “Bill” Beck; four beautiful great- grandchildren, Hanna Marie and Charlie Beck, Katarina “Kat” Aislin and Mary Zoe Beck; her brother, Robert Harris; three loving sisters, Mabel Harris Payne, Greta Harris Miller with husband, Frank, and Alice Mae Antolini; two sister-in-laws, Anna Mae Davis-Harris and Elizabeth Howard Harris; beloved and caring nieces Sheila Rayes with husband, Tim, and Joyce Hill with husband, Larry; and nephew, David Antolini.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are four brothers, James, Jack, Doc and Fielding Harris; and her beloved sister Geneva Harris-Triplett.
She attended the school at Glady. She worked earnestly at Memorial General Hospital for most of her life dedicating herself to the health and well being of her patients. She was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Terry D. "Ted" Harris, 65, a resident of the Audra Road in Belington, departed this life at 7:55 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown after suffering a stroke on May 3, 2005.
He was born June 7, 1939, at Dartmoor, a son of the late Terry Delmer Harris and Genevieve Ruth Simmons Harris.
In 1959, he was united in marriage to the former Betty L. Shaffer, who survives at their home.
He is survived by one son, Ronald Lee Harris and wife, Sandy, of Philpot, Ky.; three daughters, Becky Simmons and husband, Frank, of Belington, Teresa Blanford and husband, Bud, of Owensboro, Ky., and Michele Lyons and husband, John, of Lewisport, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Cassie Jeanette Harris, Ronny Lee Harris Jr., Gabriel Michael Harris, Tabitha Hope Harris, Jeffrey and Christopher Simmons, Terry Joseph Blanford, Lisa Elaine Blanford, Lucas Allen Blanford, John Stewart Lyons Jr. and wife, Shannon and Joshua A. Lyons; and one great-grandson, Hayden Lyons.
Also surviving are six brothers, Robert William Harris and wife, Louise, of Belington, Perry Walter Harris and wife, Phyllis, of Ravenna, Ohio, Jimmy Franklin Harris and wife, Bernice, of Belington, Charles Tom Harris and wife, Judy, of Belington, David Paul Harris and wife, Dottie, of North Jackson, Ohio, Richard H. "Sonny" Harris and wife, Marie, of Belington; four sisters, Betty Jean Silvester of Beaver Falls, Pa., Dollie Mae Cross of Belington, Helen Ruth Arbogast and husband, Jerry, of Coalton, Beatrice Kay Redner and husband, John, of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Margaret Peggy Harris of Springfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn "Buck" Harris; and one sister, Mary Ann Harris.
Mr. Harris attended the schools of Barbour County, was a retired construction superintendent for the Shelly and Sands Construction Co., was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Tyhannon Sportsman Club of Philippi. He attended the Valley Bend Baptist Church of Belington, and in his earlier years, was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Junior.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home at 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and on Saturday until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kathleen V. Harsh
Kathleen Virginia Harsh, 84, a resident of Route 4, Buckhannon, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.
She was born Oct. 4, 1921, at Thomas, a daughter of the late George Raymond and Nora Belle Lear Dawson.
She was united in marriage Nov. 10, 1940, to Elmer Morris “Smokey” Harsh, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mary Elizabeth and husband, Tom Stark, of Parkersburg; four sons, Harold L. Harsh of Buckhannon, David L. and wife, Kimberly Harsh, of Glade Springs, Ronald L. and wife, Sharon Harsh, of Charleston and Timmy and wife, Paula Worden, of Davis; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Ann and husband, Dan Brown, of Buckhannon; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Harsh was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; one son, Robert Eugene Harsh; one grandson, Gregory Allen Harsh; and one great-grandson, Curtis Matthew Harsh.
Mrs. Harsh was a dining room hostess/supervisor at Twin Fall State Park in Mullens, a homemaker and a United Methodist by faith.

Alice Emogene Chewning Hart, 75, a resident of Chenoweth Creek Road, departed this life Thursday morning, March 10, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Monday, Feb. 24, 1930 at Volga, a daughter of the late Rudy Chewning and Mabel Murphy Chewning.
On June 28, 1947, she was married to Arnold Wilson Hart, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1992.
Surviving her are six sons, John Hampton Hart and wife, Becki, Joseph Rudy Hart and wife, Kelley, David Wilson Hart and wife, Kay, and Edward Neal Hart, all of Elkins, Jeffery Clay Hart of St. Albans, and Steven Phillip Hart and wife, Carol, of Winfield; two daughters, Dorthy Lynn Doonan and husband, Glen, of Hoisington, Kan., and and Debra L. Gainer and husband, Harold Jr. of Elkins; one sister, Corliss Hurst of Ohio; one nephew raised as a brother, Terry Ottens of Arkansas; 22 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents were three brothers, Rudy Jr. “Bud”, Charles Robert “Bob”, and William Jenkins “Bill” Chewning; three sisters, Agnes Ottens, Francis “Shorty” Armentrout and Marilyn Carol Sherman; one grandchild, Alison Hart; one niece, Melody Ottens; one nephew, Donald Ottens; and one daughter-in-law, Wilma Lee McDonald Hart.
She attended the schools of Randolph County and was active in the 4-H Club as a youngster. She worked for the Reidboard Brothers Corp. of Elkins for three years and the Beta Shoe Co. in the early 1970s for two years. She was a homemaker, working the farm on Chenoweth Creek and raising eight children as her husband worked at the Youngstown Steel Door Co. in Ohio for 26 years. They celebrated 44 years of marriage. She was a member of the Hart Chapel Church and the Farm Women’s Club of Elkins.

Ernest "Doc" Hart, Local Physician ‘Doc’ Hart Dies at 76
Ernest Neve “Doc” Hart Jr., M.D., better known to all who knew him as “Doc,” was a physician, minister, composer, lyricist and playwright. He was 76, and went to meet with his Lord on the evening of April 1 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Doc was born April 15, 1928, at Decatur, Ala., a son of the late Rev. Ernest Neve Hart and Hester Mae Newberry Hart.
On July 3, 1977, he was married to Jeanne Frances Gardner, who survives. They would have celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on July 3, 2005.
He is also survived by his sons, Wayne Hart and wife, Jodi, and Barry Gardner and wife, Marsha, all of Elkins, Ernie Hart of Austin, Texas, Bob Hart and wife, Trish, of Gaston Lake, N.C., Andy Hart and wife, Leslie, of Raleigh, N.C., and Bobby Gardner and wife, Debbie, of South Charleston. Also surviving are his daughters, Pam Jones of Elkins, Debbie Roberts and husband, Harry, of Austin, Texas, Kelly Jeager and husband, Martin, of San Antonio, Texas; and two sisters, Winnie Hart Kelley and husband, Des, of San Antonio, Texas, and Patricia Hart McClure and husband, Paul, of Indianapolis, Ind. Eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was one sister, Judy Zavalla, wife of Donald Zavalla, M.D.
Doc obtained a bachelor of arts degree from Centre College, University of Kentucky in organic chemistry. He was a physicist. He graduated from both the Presbyterian Theological Seminary and the University School of Medicine in Louisville, Ky. He took his internship and surgical residency at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Harvard University and Wake Forest. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served as a flight surgeon. He was a general surgeon and was a medical director of the City Health Department in Brownsville, Texas, and the Huttonsville Correctional Center, and was chief of staff in the 1980s of Davis Memorial Hospital. Doc was also a qualified endodermologist. He was an FAA certified aviation medical examiner. He practiced privately in Calhoun, Ky., and Brownsville, Texas, before moving to Elkins in 1975, when he helped Davis Memorial Hospital open a satellite clinic in Dailey. He later moved his practice to Elkins in 1990, where he actively practiced medicine until his death. He was a member of the West Virginia State Medical Association, Tri-County Medical Association, Civil Aviation Medical Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Broadcast Music Corp. (BMI) and the Country Music Association (CMA).
Doc received various awards and honors for his writings. He co-authored with his wife, Jeanne, a book of poetry, which included the artistry of his son, Wayne, titled the “Minds Eye.” He was named the distinguished member of the International Society of Poets and received the Editors Choice Award from the National Library of poetry. He was also known for his music. In college, he was in a quartet that traveled all over the country and appeared on many well-known shows. Doc had two of his original musical compositions recorded by the Great Lloyd Lindreth, better known as the Liberace of the Harp. He wrote a Broadway play and was a guest in the homes of many theatrical, musical and well-known figures. Although well versed in many fields, his love of his family and friends were first in his life and he remained a humble, God-loving person who looked forward to helping others.
His philosophy of life was, if each man is unique, each of his creations is unique also. What we have created within is reflected back to us by our senses; hence, we are able to see in others what we are capable of seeing within ourselves. Paradise is mine when I can see loveliness in every life.
Doc’s request for cremation will be honored. Margaret Hart
Margaret Hart, 89, formerly of Fairmont, passed away April 19, 2005, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Md.
She was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Elgin, Ill., a daughter of the late Frank and Julia Toth Misley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. “Pat” Hart in July 1990; and one brother, William Misley.
Survivors include one daughter, Marguerite “Marge” Dorsey and husband, Fred, of Davis; two grandchildren, Michelle Dorsey of Davis and Denise Dorsey Mitlehner and husband, Carl, of Ashburn, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Nicole and Katherine Mitlehner.
Mrs. Hart retired from Westinghouse where she worked in the manufacture of fluorescent bulbs. She has resided the last several years with daughter and son-in-law, Marge and Fred Dorsey, in Canaan Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Elkins Firefighter Michael Hart Dies
Mr. Michael Allen Hart, 33, a resident of 318 Serpell Ave., Belington, departed this life Tuesday evening, Dec. 20, 2005, near Beverly on U.S. 219 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born June 26, 1972, at Elkins, the son of Michael Lynn Hart, who survives at Webster Springs, and Louise Simmons Hart, who survives at Belington.
On Sept. 9, 1995, he was united in marriage to the former Judith Ann Coberly, who survives at their residence in Belington.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one daughter, Kelsey Nicole Hart, and one son, Zachery Seth Hart, both at home. Also surviving are his paternal grandfather, Robert “Bob” Hart of Brownton; his mother-in-law, Leora Coberly of Beverly; his stepmother, Cynthia Jean Hart of Webster Springs; one brother-in-law, Albert Coberly II and wife, Sandra, of Mount Clare; three uncles, James “Bo” Hart and wife, Kathy, Phil Hart and wife, Lisa, all of Belington and Woodrow Simmons Jr. of Elkins; three aunts, Nancy Keller and Marie Kennedy, both of Elkins, and Anita Currence and husband, Tod, of Huttonsville; a special friend, Ed Thrasher of Philippi; several cousins and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Neva Hart; his maternal grandparents, Woodrow and Eva Simmons; two uncles, Larry Hart and Boyce Simmons; and his father-in-law, Albert “Smoke” Coberly Sr.
Mr. Hart was a 1990 graduate of Philip Barbour High School and attended the Montgomery County Community College of Rockville, Md., majoring in public fire protection. He was a member of the Belington Volunteer Fire Department since 1990, an adjunct instructor for West Virginia University fire service extension, a RESA instructor teaching fire and rescue classes, was a certified paramedic, certified firefighter level three, and a certified fire officer. He was instrumental in developing the current Truck Company class that the WVU fire service extension is presently teaching. He was a HAZMAT Tech where he was member of West Virginia Regional Response Team, a certified rescue scuba diver. He was formerly employed by the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency department, the city of Bridgeport as a firefighter and paramedic and also a former Clarksburg City firefighter. He was a member of the Belington Masonic Lodge AF & AM 125 and was a Royal Arch Mason belonging to the Tygart Valley Lodge 39. He had participated in the making of the movie “Ladder 49” and was currently employed by the Elkins Fire Department Co. 40, and also was responding to calls for the Belington Emergency Squad. He was a Baptist by faith.
Friends will be received Monday, Dec. 26, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington. On Tuesday, he will be moved to the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington where he will lie in state from noon to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted by the Rev. Jimmie Tallman and the Rev. Doyle Neil Ryder. Interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Kelsey and Zachery Hart Benefit trust fund at the Freedom Bank in Belington to benefit Mr. Hart’s children. Cora E. Harvey
Cora Ellen Harvey, 77, a resident of 22 Carol St., Buckhannon, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born June 18, 1927, at Barberton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Kelsel V. Davis and Hattie Wilson Davis.
On July 20, 1946, she married John Keith Harvey, who preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1967.
Surviving are two sons, William D. Harvey and wife, Kathy, of Hildebran, N.C. and Robert K. Harvey and wife, Sally, of Winfield; one daughter, E. Rebecca Crites of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Emily Chapman of Winfield; one grandson, Scott Crites of Buckhannon; one sister, Wanda Mouser of Philippi; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Melissa Butler.
She was employed by Moore Business Forms in the order department. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Club, Fred Brooks Garden Club and the Christmas Store.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 1 p.m to 2 p.m., the funeral service, Sunday at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Vivian Harvey
Vivian Harvey, 57, a resident of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at her home under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg.
She was born March 11, 1948, at Buckhannon, a daughter of James True and Ruth Moran True of Buckhannon.
On Dec. 31, 1976, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Harvey, who survives in Buckhannon.

She was a beautician and attended Way of Holiness Church in Buckhannon.

Gordon Haslebacher, 92, a resident of Route 6, Buckhannon, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at his home in Buckhannon.
He was born March 16, 1913, at Pickens, a son of the late Fred Haslebacher and Daisy Ann Anderson Haslebacher.
He was married to Cindy Slaughter Haslebacher, who preceded him in death Oct. 31, 1959.
Surviving are two daughters, Thanna and Arnold Wentz of Buckhannon and Twila and Gorham Boynton of Columbia, S.C.; five grandsons, Rob Smith, Rick Wentz, Chuck Smith and Scot Wentz, all of Buckhannon, and Billy Rentz of Columbia, S.C.; four granddaughters, Cindy Royston and Andrea Thurber, both of Columbia, S.C., and LouEllen Blake and Rebecca Hoover, both of Buckhannon; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alice McCoy and Ona Haslebacher.
He was a coal miner with Upshur Coals and a steel worker with Bristol Steel. He attended Buckhannon Christian Missionary Alliance.

Lucille Campbell Hassett, 56, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City, Tenn. She had lived in Rose Hill, Va., for 26 years and was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Campbell, and one uncle, Harvey Campbell.
Survivors included her mother, Georgia Spurlock of Rose Hill, Va.; two sons, Alley Hassett Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., and John Hassett of Rose Hill, Va.; two daughters, Helen Watson of Elkins and Shirley Hassett of Rose Hill, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Bridgetta, Johnathan, Shylo, Carra, Samaeul, Dominique, Shayman, Marlenea, Allylissa, Angel and Spencer; a host of nieces and nephews; two brothers, Homer Campbell of Baltimore, Md., and Billy Campbell of Bedford, Pa.; three sisters, Esther Johnson of Elkins, Wanda Puckett of Rose Hill, Va., and Marlene Cummings of Elkins.

Marguerite Emma Hawkins, 81, a resident of Route 2, Buckhannon, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 23, 1924, at Kittle Run, a daughter of the late Wilbert Kimble and Bertha Trussler Kimble.
On July 2, 1944, she was married to George Bertsil Hawkins, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are three sons, Eugene B. and wife, Linda Dianne Hawkins, of Stanley, N.C., Kevin C. and wife, Vicky Hawkins, of Buckhannon and Randy J. and wife, Mary Hawkins, of Buckhannon; two daughters, Lenora M. and husband, Ronald Gifford, of York, Pa., and Karen J. and husband, Jeff Day, of West Jefferson, N.C.; one grandson, whom she raised as her own son, Michael Joseph “Joey” Landis of Buckhannon; two brothers, Riley Kimble of Elyria, Ohio, and Othie Kimble of North Ridgeville, Ohio; three sisters, Anna Fletcher of Buckhannon, Icie Mahaffey of Bloomfield, Minn., and Florence Tenney of Buckhannon; six grandsons, Christopher Gifford of Thomasville, Pa., Timothy Hawkins of Charlotte, N.C., Nicholas Hawkins of Buckhannon, David Hawkins of Hickory, N.C., Charlie Landis of Hodgesville and Dustin Quick of West Jefferson, N.C.; three granddaughters, Michele Hawkins of Ft. Dorothy L. Bailey Hayhurst, 69, a resident of 3 H James Court in Buckhannon, died Tuesday April 19, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born Sept. 23, 1935, at Buckhannon, a daughter of the late John Aldo Jack and Edith Lanham Jack.
Surviving are one son, James Travis Bailey and wife, Alisa; one daughter, Debra Bailey House; one grandson, James Matthew Bailey; and two granddaughters, Sarah Beth House and Caitlin Michelle House, all of Buckhannon; two brothers, Russell L. Jack of Alum Bridge and Robert M. Jack and wife, Mary Jane, of Buckhannon; one sister, Loretta L. Gillespie and husband, Larry, of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her former husband, Jerry Don Hayhurst of Buckhannon; and his children, David Arthur Hayhurst and wife, Donna; Jeri Lynn Young and husband, Jeffrey; and grandchildren, Trevor, Brooke, Alley Rae and Teigan.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Jimmy Lee Jack and Gary M. Jack; and her first husband, James Arthur Bailey.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.

Beulah G. Haymond, 97, a resident of Buckhannon and formerly of Gaines, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at her home.
She was born Oct. 15, 1908, at Removal, a daughter of the late Levi Morgan Hall Jr. and Rebecca Barbara Perrine Hall.
On Jan. 11, 1930, she was married to Elmer J. Haymond, who preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1997.
Surviving are seven children, Doris Wilson and husband, Freddie (Jim), of Sissonville, Vesta Williamson and husband, Ronald, of Corvallis, Ore., Esta LaBeck and husband, Alden, of Seal Rock, Ore., James Haymond and wife, Evelyn, of Tallmadge, Ohio, Donis Martin of Buckhannon, Carol Davidson of Rock Cave and Linda Sprauer and husband, Allen, of Woodburn, Ore.; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; a brother, Leonard Hall and wife, Randa, of Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Esta Ellis of Zanesville, Ohio, and Rella Carpenter of Spanish Fork, Utah; and one sister-in-law, Hazel Davidson of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by one son, Lynn W. Haymond; one daughter, Helen Louise Haymond; three brothers, Walter Hall, Earl Hall and Millard Hall; five sisters, Lula Carer, Rose Markeley, Elsie Hamilton, Madelyn Kochenour and Laura Moyer; and five grandchildren.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

She was born June 11, 1956, in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of the late Sonny L. Lewis and Delores “Dora” Lewis Liggett, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are three daughters, Kellie Sturdivant of Elkins, Carrie Utt and husband, Brian, of Belington and Adriane Healey of Kentucky; one son, Jason Healey of Kentucky; one grandson, Corey Sprouse; one foster daughter, Tamara Hurst and husband, B.J., of Kentucky; three brothers, Sonny L. Lewis II and wife, Julie, of Elkins, Walter “Brooks” Lewis and wife, Shirley, of Mill Creek and Steven L. Lewis and wife, Sherri, of Beverly; three sisters, Gail Armstrong and husband, Keith, of Mill Creek, Kathryn Chabut and husband, Joseph, of Elkins and Martha Lewis of Elkins; two stepbrothers, Frank “Chip” Lewis and wife, Vera, of Elkins and Michael D. Lewis and wife, Kelly, of South Carolina; 10 nieces, eight nephews, five great-nephews and four great-nieces; and a special friend, Jerry Hurst, of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by two stepfathers, Luther G. Lewis and William H. Liggett; paternal grandparents, George E. and Vergie Chenoweth Lewis; maternal grandmother, Phoebe J. Weese Bennett; and a stepsister, Glenda J. Lewis Peters.
Elizabeth attended the schools of Randolph County and was a former employee of Reckart Equipment Co. and was currently employed at Hurst Auto Sales of Frankfort, Ky. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Kentucky and was active in the Eastern Star and the Shriner’s of Ashland, Ky. She served as a volunteer with the National Guard.

She was born Feb. 13, 1939, at Selbyville, a daughter of the late Ray and Madge Roby Compton.
On Sept. 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Billy Heater, who survives at Rock Cave.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael Joe Heater of Frenchton, Robert Weese Heater of Tennerton and Randall Scott Heater of Rock Cave; two daughters, Marcia Ann Curtight and Karen Jean Hull and husband, Steve, all of Rock Cave; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Rexroad of Ohio, Pauline Cootz of Kentucky, Lena Eskew of Buckhannon and Sylvia Crites of Shinnston.
She was a homemaker and attended the Cannan Community Church.

Randall Scott Heater, 44, a resident of Rock Cave, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at his home.

Also surviving are three children, Billy Scott Heater, Betty Jo Heater and Bobby Jo Heater, all of Buckhannon; two brothers, Michael Joe Heater of Frenchton and Robert Weese Heater of Tennerton; and two sisters, Marcia Ann Cutright and Karen Jean Hull and husband, Steve, all of Rock Cave.
He was a rig driller and a Christian by faith.

C. Farrell Heavener, 70, a resident of Cherry Lane, Cherry Grove, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 30, 1934, at Cherry Grove, a son of the late Ray Heavener and Sybil Wyant.
He was married to Annalyn Johnston, who preceded him in death Dec. 6, 1997.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Thompson of Riverton; three sons, Charlie Heavener of Cherry Grove, Ferlin Heavener of Mt. Olive and Ray Heavener of Cherry Grove; one sister, Imogene Ellis of Staunton, Va.; two grandsons, Jared Ray Heavener and Justin Hedrick; and one great-granddaughter, Ashton Heavener.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Joy Colaw and Betty Tracy.
He was a farmer and co-founder of C&H Cash Store in Cherry Grove. He attended the schools of Cherry Grove and was a Methodist by faith.

Alice Helmick
Alice Helmick, 90, a resident of Beverly, passed away Friday evening, Nov. 25, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 9, 1915, at Hambleton, a daughter of the late Taswell and Sara Wilson Collett.
Mrs. Helmick was twice married, first to Forrest Harvey White, who preceded her in death, and later to Ralph W. Helmick, who also preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was a companion, Charles “Bob” Waldron.
Also surviving are two daughters, Nelda Kisner of Beverly and Pam McSpadden Peters and husband, Bob, of Beverly and six sons, Harold White of Beverly, Roger White and wife, Nancy, of Beverly, Scottie White of Dailey, Denny White and wife, Debbie, of New Castle, Va., Bob White of Roanoke, Va., and Kenny White of Kingsport, Tenn. A stepson, Ralph Helmick of Bretz Community and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death were children, Margaret Roby, Jimmy, Carl, Forrest and William White; stepson, Lester Helmick; and three infant children.
Mrs. Helmick was a homemaker and a former letter carrier in the Whitmer area. She loved her family and she loved watching deer and viewing gospel shows on television. She was known as “Grandma” by many people and never met a stranger.

Lester Helmick
Lester “Les” Helmick, 57, a resident of 220 Second St., Elkins, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 24, 2005, in Tucker County where he had been hunting. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
Born Nov. 10, 1948, in Tucker County, he was the son of the late Ralph Helmic and Pauline Long Helmick Carr who survives at Hendricks.
On June 26, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Deborah “Debbie” Phillips, who survives at Elkins.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Allen and Kevin Michael Helmick, both at home; and one brother, Ralph “June” Helmick Jr. and wife, Melinda, of Parsons. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, stepbrothers, stepsisters and his stepmother, Alice Helmick of Elkins. A special stepnephew, Ronnie Carr of Canaan Valley, also survives.
Preceding him in death besides his father was his stepfather, Lewis K. Carr.
At the time of his death, Les was employed by Jim C. Hammer Hardwood. He had formerly been employed by M&M Guardrail as a truck driver.
Les was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Les was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 2344 of Elkins, having served as past president and outside guard. He collected hunting knives and loved spending time with his wife, children and other family. Les will be greatly missed and remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever. He was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 27, after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Nov. 28, from the Runner Chapel at 11 a.m. The Rev. John Morrision of the Parsons Methodist Church will officiate. Adam F. Hevener
Adam Franklin Hevener, 62, a resident of 427 Warwood Ave., Wheeling, went to join his Savior on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the home of his oldest daughter, Mrs. Sarah L. Hevener-Murray of Mill Creek, surrounded by his devoted family and faithful pet, “Fat Cat” Gabby.
He was born Feb. 6, 1943, at home in Blue Springs, Monterville, a son of the late Talbert E. and Sarah Ada Folks Hevener. He was the ninth of 10 children and the last surviving son.
In 1963, Adam married Mary Jo Cutright, and in 1968, the family moved to Wheeling, where Mrs. Hevener survives.
They raised their two daughters in Wheeling, Sarah Louise Hevener-Murray, who survives at Mill Creek, and Shirley Jean Hevener, who survives at Triadelphia. Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Glen “Lou” Sage of Monterville, Mrs. Bill “Mae” Lindsay of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Mac “Shirley” Hite of Elyria, Ohio, Mrs. Ray “Verlie” Conrad of Powell, Tenn., and Mrs. Don “Eula” Gibson of Mill Creek. Five grandchildren, Caleb, Maurice, Talia “Bear” and Nickolus “Buck” Murray and Abigail “Punkin” Moczek, also survive. Talia and Nickolus were a loving comfort to Adam in his last days.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerl and Howard Hevener; and two sisters, Mary Hevener Swecker and Pearl Hevener.
Adam attended the Cowger School in Randolph County. He was employed for 20 years as a coal miner and also was an owner/operator of his trucking business for 20 years prior to his retirement last month. Adam had many devoted family members and friends in trucking.
At Adam’s request, his remains will be cremated and laid to rest at the Hevener Family Cemetery at Blue Springs, Monterville. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. John Audrith Hevener, 82, a resident of Franklin, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.
He was born Aug. 29, 1923, at Kline, a son of the late Daniel Ezra Hevener and Rena Dahmer Hevener.
He was married to Lucy Mila Butcher, who preceded him in death March 12, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Lois Byers of Franklin and Beverly Eye of Ft. Seybert; one son, Johnny Hevener Jr. of Deer Run, Franklin; two sisters, Lula Belle Kline of Franklin and Viola Watson of Newport News, Va.; one brother, Roy Hevener of Deer Run, Franklin; and 10 grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Avery Hevener, Emory Hevener and Alfred Claude Hevener.
He was a 1940 graduate of Franklin High School and a 1950 graduate of West Virginia University. He was a retired farmer and worked as a social worker and juvenile probation officer with the West Virginia Department of Human Services for 20 years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Mr. Zion United Methodist Church.

Anna L. Hedrick
Anna Louise Hedrick, a resident of Upper Tract, died Feb. 27, 2005, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born May 17, 1930, at Ruddle, one of 16 children born to the late George Otis and Bessie Hartman Thompson. She lived her entire life in Pendleton County.
She was married to Jesse H. “Buzz” Hedrick, who preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1989.
She is survived by four sisters, Viola T. Hevener of Harrisonburg, Va., Jessie M. Snyder of Harman, Donna L. Casidy and Tressie T. Bridges, both of Bridgewater, Va.; and three brothers, Oden L. Thompson of Brandywine, Paul J. Thompson and C. Clarence Thompson, both of Franklin.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Artie E., George H., Ona G., Ray O., Raymond H. and W. Denver Thompson; and two sisters, Nettie T. Alt and Reda T. Gauding.
Mrs. Hedrick worked for many years at Dick’s Restaurant in Ruddle and more recently had been employed by Pendleton County School system as an aide working in Upper Tract Elementary School and Brandywine School. She attended Reed’s Creek United Methodist Church.

Carl Marshall Hedrick, 78, a well-known farmer of the Holly Meadows community, Parsons, departed this life Thursday evening, Oct. 20, 2005, at the farm. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to heart failure.
He was born Sunday, Oct. 2, 1927, a son of the late Walter Scott Hedrick and Lulu Moore Hedrick.
On Nov. 15, 1952, at Parsons, he was married to the former Mary Jane Dumire, who survives. They celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons, Allen Carl Hedrick of Parsons and David Marshall Hedrick and wife, Deborah, of Holly Meadows; one daughter; Mary Louise Donato and husband, Mike, of Fairmont; two brothers; Walter Harold Hedrick and wife, Ernestine, of Littleton, Colo., and Robert Kenny Hedrick Sr. and wife, Lorraine, of Alexandria, Va.; five grandchildren, Sarah, Scott, Andrew, Ethan and Mary; and two stepgrandchildren, Eli and Edward.
He attended the school at Holly Meadows and was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1945.
He was deputy assessor for Tucker County for many years. He was a two-term sheriff of Tucker County. During the year 1999, he was inducted into the Parsons High School Hall of Fame. He was president of the Tucker County Farm Bureau. He served on the ASCS board for many years.
He was a 4-H pin-wearer and a former 4-H leader. He was a member of the Davis Lodge 103, IOOF. He was 2002 Conservation Farmer of the Year and, along with his son, David, owned and operated the Hedrick Dairy Farm at Holly Meadows. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Parsons.

James R. Hedrick
James R. “Jim” Hedrick, 71, a resident of the Elkins Manor since 1993, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week. Before moving to the Elkins Manor, Jim had made his home with Ezra and Edith Bennett since the 1950s.
Born Dec. 5, 1934, in Whitmer, he was the son of the late Isom and Virgie Simmons Hedrick.
Jim is survived by two brothers, Blake and Ronald Hedrick, both of Whitmer; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, including special friends, Wilmoth and Rella Bodkins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Artie Pennington, and six brothers, Elmer, Ted, Harold, Roger, Holland and Thornton Hedrick.
Jim was employed by Hoover Railing Co. in Mingo in the late 1950s. He also worked for H.R. Lang and Johnson doing farm work, and when the farm was sold to Claude Hilton, Jim continued working at the farm until retiring. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Jim will be missed and remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

Joy T. Hedrick, 91, a resident of Pendleton Nursing Home since July 2002 and formerly of Seneca Rocks, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.
She was born Oct. 15, 1913, at Teterton, the daughter of the late Floyd and Pallie Harper Teter.
She was a homemaker aide for several years, a cook at Byrd’s Restaurant in Franklin and at Bill Painter’s, and a nurses aide at the Odd Fellow home in Elkins.
Her first husband, Ernest Cunningham, preceded her in death in 1936. Her second husband, Curt Hedrick, preceded her in death July 1, 1961.
Surviving are two daughters, Joan Day of Warren, Ohio, and Judith Ours of Cabins; one sister, Hicel Roy of Elkins; one brother, Guy Teter of Seneca Rocks; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosalie Harper on May 28, 2005; one infant granddaughter, five sisters and three brothers.

Michael Lee Hedrick, 39, a resident of Glady, passed away Saturday morning, July 30, 2005.
He was born June 11, 1966, in Elkins, a son of Willie and Carolyn Cave Hedrick of Glady.
In addition to his parents he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Nicole Hedrick of Baltimore, Md.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ted (Nettie) Odgen of Alpena and Barbara Hedrick and companion, Jeff Chamberlain, of Glady; two brothers, Donald Hedrick of Beverly and Kevin Hedrick and companion, Barbara Plum, of Capon Bridge; three nephews, Johnnie Ogden, Joshua Hedrick and Justin Sacks; two nieces, Stefanie Ogden and Paige Hedrick; several aunts, uncles and a special buddy, "Boss," the family dog.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Isom and Eva Hedrick; and maternal grandparents, Treavy and Mary Cave.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was employed by Greenfield Cabinetry at the time of his death and was a Brethren by faith. He will be sadly missed.

Rose Pearl Canfield Nelson Helmick, 91, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Friday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2005, at her home. She had been in her usual health and death was attributed to a heart attack.
She was born March 2, 1913, at the Clover community in Tucker County, a daughter of the late Lorenza L. and Venice Auvil Canfield.
She was twice married, first to Ralph Nelson, who preceded her in death. On July 8, 1993, she was married to William “Bill” Helmick, who survives.
Also surviving are one son; Robert Ralph Nelson of California; one brother, Clyde Raymond Canfield of Hambleton; three grandsons, Darrell Nelson, Jeffrey Nelson and Mark Nelson; two granddaughters, Terri Ellen Eekhoff and Joleen Ann Nelson, all of California; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Lee Canfield, Charles Howard Canfield and Clarence Doyle Canfield; and one sister, Anna Grace Stevens.
She attended the schools of Tucker County. She had worked at various restaurants and was affiliated with the Eagles and the BPOE of California and was a Methodist by faith.

Bea F. Henline, 99, of Route 2, French Creek, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 3, 1905, at Pickens, a son of the late Asa Webb and Icy Mae Zickefoose Henline.
He was united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1928, to Fern A Haymond Henline, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, George Henline and wife, Charlotte, of French Creek; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister. Mr. and Mrs. Henline were the foster parents of 28 children.
He was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters; one son, Bill; an infant daughter, Chloe; and an infant son, Joseph.
Mr. Henline was retired from the B & O Railroad with 48 years of service and he was also a farmer.

On April 11, 1931, she was united in marriage to Herschel Hicks, who preceded her in death May 27, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Mike Hicks of Buckhannon and Tim Hicks of McKeesport, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Feaganes of Buckhannon and Mrs. Sharon Long of Carmel, Calif.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Iris Seachman of Spring Hill, Fla. and Helen Cantarelli of Bridgeport.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Robert Hicks, one granddaughter and one grandson; and three sisters, Cindy Hasslebacher, Virginia Wratchford and Margaret Osburn.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Christ in Buckhannon and a member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau.

She was born Thursday, Jan. 1, 1920, at Wymer, a daughter of the late Joe Hoover and Lona White Hoover.
On June 29, 1939, at Beverly, she was married to Russell Higgins Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Russell Higgins Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of Gilman, Brooks Higgins, David Higgins and Preston Higgins, all of Elkins; one daughter, Mary Davis Higgins of Elkins; 12 grandchildren, Tammy Harsh, Sandra Tighe, Rebecca Harman, Matthew Higgins, Carra Higgins, Troy Higgins, Victoria Davis, R.W. Davis, Emily Shobe, Macy Arbogast, Tim Arbogast and Cindy Hudock; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her parents are one son, Nathan Higgins; one adopted daughter; Pam Arbogast; one sister, Geneva Higgins; and a special cousin, who was like a sister, Edna Darnell.
Cecelia attended the schools of Randolph County, was a homemaker, had cared for several foster children in the Elkins area and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Frank Parker Hight, 88, a former resident of Dryfork on Elk River and a resident of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the past six years, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at 5:55 p.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past four days. He had been in failing health for the past year.
Born May 26, 1917, he was the son of the late Nimrod Monday and Cornelia Bell Hamrick Hight.
In April 1941, he was united in marriage to the former Lily Mae Salisbury, who preceded him in death Aug. 10, 2001.
Frank is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Verchick and husband, Frank, and Darlene Hight, all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Tammie Hight of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sons, Ronald Hight of Elkins, Teddy Hight and wife, Diane, of Huttonsville and Jimmy Hight and wife, Gloria, of Monterville; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by four brothers, Norman K. Hight, Danny F. Hight, Doc Hite and Marple Payne; two sons, Rickie Steven and Daniel Hight; and one grandson, Steven Parker Hight.
Mr. Hight was a coal miner having been employed by Grafton Coal Co. for several years until retiring in 1979. Frank was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by those who loved him.
Friends will be received after 6 p.m. today at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Runner Chapel. The Rev. Dorothy R. Hile
Dorothy Ruth Teter Hile, 82, a resident of Holly Meadows community, Parsons, departed this life Monday evening, March 7, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She had been in declining health and confined to intensive care for the past three weeks and death was attributed to pneumonia.
She was born Dec. 12, 1922, at Elk, Dryfork, a daughter of the late Ira Frank Teter and Celestine Bonner Teter.
On Dec. 24, 1940 at Holly Meadows, she was married to Foster Allen Hile, who survived. They celebrated more than 64 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Allen Dean Hile of Holly Meadows; one brother, Ronald Leon Teter of Ridgley; one niece, Karen Gaily, and one nephew, John Teter, both of Florida; and one sister-in-law, Georgia Teter of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Glen Teter.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1940. She had worked for the former Dorman Mills of Parsons in the sales department. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Parsons. She was a wonderful homemaker. She loved gardening, canning and cooking.

Wilma G. Hill
Wilma Genevieve “Ginny” Hill, 75, of Front Street, Belington, died Thursday evening, Aug. 4, 2005, in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center under the tender care of Mt. Hospice Inc.
She was born Feb. 13, 1930, at Belington, a daughter of the late Lloyd G. and Rachel (Cross) Delauder.
On Feb. 13, 1973, she was married to Rex D. Hill, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1984.
Survivors include one step-son, Lawrence D. Hill and wife, Jane, of Lost Creek; one brother, Gordon Delauder and fiancÈe, Anna Fear, of Youngstown, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Edith Delauder of Belington and Juanita Delauder of the Kirt community; two stepgranddaughters, Christine Elizabeth and Debra Jane; several stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Lloyd, Robert, David, Donna, John, Debbie, Gordon D., Carla, Wilma Jean, Rosa Lea, Kathy and Ronnie; and several grand-nieces and grandnephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Etta Cole and Virginia Kukwa; and two brothers, Dorsey Herbert Delauder and Everett William Delauder.
Mrs. Hill was a former clerk in the Pure Food Store in Belington and, along with her late husband, had managed a convenience store and gas station. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Belington.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Ave., Belington, at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8. The Rev. David Shelton will officiate and interment will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday. Thomas J. Hillyard
Mr. Thomas J. Hillyard, 68, a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, departed this life Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at 8:05 p.m. at the center. Mr. Hillyard had been in declining health for several months.
He was born July 28, 1937, in Belington, the son of the late Tom “Stu” Hillyard and Iowana Brady Hillyard, who survives at Belington.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Hillyard is survived by three sons, David Hillyard and wife, Rosie, of Lumberport, Brian Hillyard and wife, Janise, of Idaho and Roy Hillyard of Parkersburg; and one daughter, Ruth Anne Hillyard of California. Seven grandchildren and one stepgrandchild also survive.
He attended the schools of Barbour County, Glenville State College, California State University, the University of Virginia, Knox College of Illinois. He was a graduate of West Virginia University. Mr. Hillyard had been a former school teacher in Marion County and had been employed in the social services field in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. He was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday until 3 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Francis C. Hinkle
Francis Clive Hinkle, 91, a resident of Route 3, Buckhannon, died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, May 15, 2005, at his home.
He was born Oct. 16, 1913, at Glady Fork, the son of the late Daniel C. Hinkle and Amanda Hornbeck Hinkle.
On June 9, 1935, he was united in marriage to Edith L. Smith Hinkle, who survives at Buckhannon.
Surviving are one son, Delmar Clive Hinkle and wife, Elieen June, of West Palm Beach, Fla., one grandson, Douglas Clive Hinkle of Australia; two great-granddaughters, Stephanie Marie Hinkle of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Sha-an Virginia Hinkle of Australia; two great-great-grandsons of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and one brother-in-law, Robert C. Smith of Jane Lew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorthy Hurburt.
He was a school teacher with the Palm Beach County school system in Florida. He attended Reger Chapel United Methodist Church. He served as assistant scout master, 4-H leader, taught first aid during World War II and was a member of the West Virginia Guard during World War II. He was a member of Adrian Public Service District and operated Hinkle’s Nursery and Tree Farm for 50 years. Mr. Hinkle taught school in Upshur County for 18 years, in Alexandria, Va., for two years and in Palm Beach County Florida for 13 years, where he retired in 1970.

Eileen J. Hinkle
Eileen J. Hinkle, 68, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born June 3, 1937, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Clifton Gibson and Virginia Parker Gibson.
On Nov. 26, 1955, she was married to Delmar Hinkle, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Douglas Hinkle of Australia; two granddaughters, Stephanie Hinkle of Lake Worth, Fla., and Shy-Ann Hinkle of Australia; and two great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.

Mona Arveta “Granny” Hinkle, 93, a resident of Potomac Highlands Apartments in Franklin and formerly of Riverton, died June 27, 2005, at her residence.
She was born June 18, 1912, at Simoda, a daughter of the late Robert Bruce Hinkle and Mary Artie Hedrick.
Surviving are two daughters, Hallie J. Beveridge of Martinsburg and Annabel L. Craig and husband, Jeff, of Moyers; one granddaughter, whom she raised, Kimberly A. Ruddle and husband, Eddie, of Franklin; three sons, Richard W. “Pete” Thompson and wife, Shirley, of Bridgewater, Va., Ralph J. Hinkle and wife, Rose, of Marlinton and Paul E. Hinkle and wife, Betty, of Wardensville; one half sister, Eva Thompson of Riverton; one half brother, Robert B. Hinkle and wife, Lona, of Riverton; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one son, David Elwood Heltzel; two grandsons; and three brothers, Michael, Mason and Richard.
She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a United Brethren by faith.

Obid W. Hinkle
Obid Warren Hinkle, 86, a resident of Buckhannon, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, in his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice of Buckhannon.
He was born May 19, 1919, at Vegan, a son of the late Waitman T. Hinkle and Anna Trussler Hinkle.
On June 24, 1948, he was married to Delora Frances “Pat” Fox Hinkle, who preceded him in death April 8, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Lou Hinkle Thompson and husband, Tommy, and Lea Ann Groah and husband, Mike, all of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Brenda Thompson of Mount Laurel, N.J., and Angie Queen of Buckhannon; one grandson, Rodney Thompson of Elkins; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Queen of Buckhannon; three great-grandsons, Dalton Queen of Buckhannon, Hunter Thompson of Elkins and Brandon Mundine of Mount Laurel, N.J.; one sister, Geneva Grubb of Ellamore; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend and companion, Mary Tenney, of Buckhannon.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Shasta Dean.
He was a school bus driver for Upshur County Board of Education, the owner and operator of Hinkle’s Cash and Carry, served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees.

Robert O. Hinkle
Robert Orvan Hinkle, 87, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at Kindred Hospital in Oakdale, Pa.
Mr. Hinkle was born Dec. 1, 1918, at Wheeler, a son of the late Atha and Lena Berry Hinkle.
He was united in marriage July 9, 1953 to Rella Fisher of Cleveland.
Surviving are five sons, Charles Edward Fisher of Crawford, Arnie Hinkle of Cleveland, Ronald Hinkle of Petersburg, Billy Hinkle of Petersburg and Harold Ross Hinkle of New Martinsville; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Retha Casto of Hacker Valley; and three brothers, Roy Hinkle of Cleveland, Ronald Hinkle of Petersburg and Arlos Hinkle of New Martinsville.
Mr. Hinkle was preceded in death by three sons, one grandson and one sister.
Mr. Hinkle served in the U.S. during World War II and was a logger.

Virgil L. Hinkle
Virgil Law Hinkle, 93, a resident of Tallmansville, died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
He was born Dec. 24, 1911, at Cutright Chapel, the son of the late Ralph Hinkle and Virgie Reeder Hinkle.
On June 30, 1930, he was married to Addie Zickefoose Hinkle, who preceded him in death Dec. 3, 1990.
Surviving are two sons, Verlin and Darlene Hinkle of Buckhannon and Gail and Karen Hinkle of West Milford; one grandson, Brian Hinkle of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Karla Sloan of Worthington and Kelly Fox of Good Hope; three great-granddaughters, Bria Hinkle of Buckhannon, Cassidy Fox of Good Hope and Allyssa Sloan of Worthington; one great-grandson, Cory Fox of Good Hope; two sisters, Norene Zickefoose of Queens and Pauline Gooden of Buckhannon; and one half brother, Arnold Hinkle of Atlanta, Ga.
Also preceding him in death were two half brothers, Don Hinkle and Charles Hinkle.
He was a timberman for Woody Lumber Co., attended Cutright Chapel and was a member of Upshur Sportsman Club.

Mabel L. Hinter
Mabel Louella Hinter, 88, of Route 1, New Milton, departed this life Friday, July 22, 2005.
She was born Aug. 24, 1916, in West Union, a daughter of the late Charles O. and Eula Smith Smith.
On. Oct. 5, 1941, she married Joseph L. Hinter, who preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1988.
Surviving are two daughters, Ellen Davey and husband, George, of Honesdale, Pa., and Christine Mundy and husband, John, of Buckhannon; two sons, James J. Hinter of New Milton and L. Wayne Hinter and wife, Linda, of Buckhannon; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Smith of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Kermit, Kenneth, Kester and Robert Smith; and one one sister, Mary Wonderling.
Mrs. Hinter was retired from the Doddridge County Board of Education as an elementary school teacher and served as a principal in the school system. She was a member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church for 65 years.
Visitation was Sunday at Spurgeon Funeral Home at 212 Front St. in West Union. Funeral services were today at 11 a.m. in St. Johannes Lutheran Church in St. Clair with Pastor Linda Muhley officiating. Interment followed in St. Johannes Lutheran Cemetery. Anna C. Hinzman
Anna Colvin Blair Hinzman, 87, of 651 Count Ave., Weston died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 20, 1918, at Jane Lew, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Freda Mae Stalnaker Colvin.
She was twice married. First, in November of 1940, she married Robert C. Blair Jr., who died Sept. 9, 1971. Then in 1975, she married C. Thomas Hinzman, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Robert C. Blair II of Bluefield; one daughter, Peggy Ann Cantley of Beckley; four grandchildren, Anna Marie and husband, Abraham Lilly, of Athens, James Robert and wife, Shsha Cantley, of Ghent, Lori Lynn and husband, Joseph Eaton, of Charlotte, N.C., and Kristie Lynn and husband, Jason Rutherford, of Union, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Caleb and Alex; and one sister, Serena Tomaschko of Clarksburg.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Cline, William and Ken Colvin; and two sisters, Freda Ralston and Mary Lowman.
Mrs. Hinzman was employed for several years by Montgomery Ward in Weston and later in Fairmont. She retired as manager at Ashley Outlet in Weston with several years of service. She was a member of Theresa Snaith Auxiliary of St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital (SJMH), Chamber of Commerce for 12 years and secretary of the Retail Board for two years. She was a graduate of Jane Lew High School class of 1936. She was a member of the St. Matthew United Methodist Church.

Walker Hite Jr.
Walker Hite Jr., 75, of Jacksonville, Ark., died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Baptist Springhill Medical Center in North Little Rock.
He was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Gilmer County, to Walker Fred and Sylvia Turner Hite.
In 1947, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War with the 555 Red Horse Squadron.
On Dec. 8, 1950, he married Elsie Hogan in Valley Head. They have lived in Jacksonville since 1971.
Mr. Hite retired in 1974 as chief master sergeant. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Award. Mr. Hite was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lions Club in Jacksonville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Starr.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie, of Jacksonville; three children, Susannah Simmons, Steve and Jeanne Hite, and Sherri and Bradford Harris, all of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Nathan Haynes, Cody Simmons, Kelsie Hite, Brandon Harris, Braden Harris and Bailey Harris; four sisters, Barbara Shiley of Ona, Wanda Corder of Akron, Ohio, Doris Long and Linda Gould, both of Valley Head; and brother, Harold Hite of Buckhannon.

Ruth C. Hitt
Ruth Clara Evans Hitt, 81, a former resident of Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins, and more recently a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, departed this life Saturday evening, April 30, 2005, at the center. She had been in declining health.
She was born Thursday, Sept. 27, 1923, at Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins, a daughter of the late Harley Brewer Evans and Lena D. Lowther Evans.
On Oct. 5, 1940, at Elkins, she was married to Harry Boyd Hitt,
who preceded her in death April 9, 2000.
Surviving are one son, Edward Hitt and wife, Sharon, of Chenoweth Creek; three brothers, Robert H. Evans and Hubert Evans, both of Elkins, and Edgar W. Evans of Virginia; four sisters, Virginia Hyre, Margaret Carr, Mildred Doerr and Katherine Chenoweth, all of Elkins; two grandchildren, Kevin Hitt and wife, Becky, and Crystal Stroud and husband, Mark, all of Elkins; five great-grandchildren, Cody and Hunter Stroud and Corey, Lakin and Christopher Hitt, all of Elkins, and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Josh Stroud and Sherry and Terry Adkinson, all of Elkins.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were one brother, Ralph R. Evans, and two sisters, Verda Nestor and Mabel Cook.
She attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked for Davis & Elkins College cafeteria and for Trickett Hardware for 25 years. She was a member of Hart’s Chapel Church and the Church Craft Ladies.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday. Sarah E. Hodges
Sarah Elizabeth Stanton Hodges, 84, a resident of the Norton Road, Elkins, departed this life Thursday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health for the past two weeks and death was attributed to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
She was born Tuesday, March 9, 1920, at Ellamore, a daughter of the late Peter William Stanton and Mary Jane Burke Stanton. On Dec. 25, 1939 at Coalton, she was married to Elmer Merritt Hodges, who preceded her in death July 5, 2003. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Sharp and husband, Ronald, of Norton Road, Elkins; one brother-in-law; several sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are four
brothers; Lawrence, Phillip, Edwin and Michael Stanton; and four sisters, Anna, Agnes, Gertrude and Genievee.
Sarah attended the schools of Ellamore and was a graduate of Coalton High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Saint Brendan Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends at the Saint Brendan Catholic Church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Today at 7 p.m., at the church, a prayer service will be recited by the Rev. Fr. William Anderson. Ernest Hofer
Ernest “Fred” Hofer, 82, a lifelong resident of Helvetia, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at his home.
He was born Jan. 30, 1023, at Helvetia, a son of the late Ernest and Henrietta Hartman Hofer.
On Jan. 28, 1950, he was united in marriage to Margie Maxine VanGilder Hofer, who preceded him in death Mary 28, 1987.
Surviving are seven children, Ernest E. Hofer and wife, Donna J., Enrica McMillion, Renee A. Hofer, Vernon K. Hofer and wife, Barbara A., and Roxanne L. Hofer, all of Helvetia, Maura A. Lewis of Elkview and Stanley A. Hofer and wife, Sharon L., of Falls Church, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Betler of Nutter Fort, Lena Mealey of Elkins and Margaret Wegman of Norfork, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by an infant brother; and two sisters, Wilma Hofer and Genevieve Hofer.
He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church of Helvetia, a member of the Helvetia Chapter of Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion of Pickens. Mr. Hofer served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Viewing was Monday at Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. He will lie in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m today at Zion Presbyterian Church at Helvetia, where services will begin at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James P. Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Pickens Cemetery. The VFW Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military services at the graveside. Kathern Hoffman
Kathern Currey Tabler Hoffman, 78, died Jan. 16, 2005, at her Jacksonville Beach, Fla., home after a lengthy illness.
Kate was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Parsons, Tucker County. She was the oldest of three children born to Kathern Darkey Tabler of Davis and Walter D. Tabler of Harpers Ferry. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Fairmont and Elkins, and graduated from Elkins High School in 1943.
Kate moved to Jacksonville, Fla., in 1954, working first at Western Union and then at Florida Times-Union, where she started out as a dictaphone operator and eventually was promoted to executive secretary. She was a “company girl,” and proud of it, since it enabled her to independently raise two children. After retiring from the Times-Union in 1989, she both worked and volunteered at the Beaches Branch public library.
Kate was an avid reader, and she faithfully worked the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle — with a ballpoint pen. Her passion was the arts, and she made trips to New York City a number of times as well as London, England, to visit museums, hear opera and attend the theater. She enjoyed movies and television, too.
Kate developed a strong interest in NASCAR after she retired, and her car’s rear window bore decals of numbers 3, 8 and 15.
Kate is survived by her brother and his wife, James and Patricia Tabler of Garner, N.C.; her sister, Lee T. Dougherty of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and her two sons and their wives, Michael and Sharon Hoffmann of Atlantic Beach, Fla. and James and Sherrill Hoffmann of Houston, Texas.
Kate’s path crossed that of many people in the course of her lifetime, especially because of her jobs at Western Union and the Times-Union, and from among that multitude of acquaintances she cherished a small number of close friendships, some dating back to the 1950 and 1960, and others of more recent origins.
There will be no service. Kate’s cremated remains will be transported at a later date to the family plot in Parsons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to N.E. Ralph Hogue
Ralph Hogue, 80, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at 12:27 a.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since this past Thursday. Death was attributed to cancer.
Born July 27, 1925, at Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Martin Hogue and Velma Hammonds.
On April 28, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Violet Merle Howard, who survives at Mill Creek.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Betty Jo Price and husband, John, of East Dailey, Patsy Jean Collins of Mill Creek and Cathy Ann Conrad and husband, Henry, of Elkins; and one son, Roger Gail Hogue of Norton. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one son, Ralph "Bunt" Hogue; and one grandson, Kenneth "Kenny" Collins.
In his younger years, Ralph was a timber cutter for Myers Lumber Co. Ralph retired as an edger from Mill Creek Builders Supply Co. with more than 20 years of service. He was a veteran having served during World War II with the U.S. Army, having been honorably discharged with the rank of corporal in 1946. Ralph was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was also well known for decorating anything he could. Ralph will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel Thursday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Ford officiating. Rosland G. Hoover, 87, a resident of Buckhannon, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born April 8, 1918, at Erwin, a daughter of the late Gunnard Johnson and Flossie B. Pennington Johnson.
On March 28, 1997, she was married to Clyde Hoover, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Roger Dale Bonner and Harold Lee Bonner, both of Wellington, Ohio; two grandsons, Rodney Dale Bonner of Wakeman, Ohio, and Robert Bonner of Salem; one granddaughter, Nicole Thomas of Wellington, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Martha Neil of Columbus, Ohio; one stepgranddaughter, Amanda of Dayton, Ohio; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her first husband, Edgar Bonner; second husband, Junior L. Phillips; three sisters, Wilma Bunnell, Erma Jean Logan and her twin, Rosella Maxine Johnson; and two brothers Everett Johnson and Virgil Leon Johnson.
She was a nurse’s aid and attended the Pentecostal Church.

Charles L. Hornbeck, 85, a resident of HC 36, Buckhannon, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Buckhannon.
He was born Oct. 25, 1919, at Kedron, a son of the late Andrew J. Hornbeck and Eva Bennett Hornbeck.
On Sept. 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Vera Rice Hornbeck, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are one son, Stephen and Carolyn Hornbeck, and one grandson, Jason Hornbeck, all of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Marple Hornbeck, and one sister, Lillian Waugh, both of Buckhannon.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Robert Hornbeck and Dan Hornbeck.
He was a funeral director and former owner of Franklin Funeral Home. He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific as a first sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. He was a member of Franklin Lodge 7 AF&AM, Clarksburg and Wheeling Scottish Rite, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Georgena Madge Hosaflook, 77, a resident of Buckhannon, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at her home.
She was born Nov. 10, 1928, at Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Theodore Oliver Carpenter and Maud Alderman Carpenter.
On Dec. 13, 1953, she was married to Eugene Brooks Hosaflook, who preceded her in death June 8, 1995.
She is survived by one son, Theodore Eugene Hosaflook of Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Brandi Ann Hosaflook of Fairmont; four sisters, Bettie Rose of Buckhannon, Bonnie Hinkle of French Creek, Mary Janssen of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Janice Fitzgerald of Buckhannon; two brothers, Robert Carpenter and wife, Diann, of Buckhannon and Roger Carpenter and wife, Cindy, of French Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker.

Danny R. Howard Sr., 54, a resident of Route 1, Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born April 7, 1951, at French Creek, a son of the late Carlton Walter “Jiggs” Howard and Virgie Mae Howard.
On March 12, 1994, he was married to Linda Claypool Howard, who survives at Buckhannon.
Also surviving are his stepfather, Verlin and wife, Mary Nitz, of Carrolton, Ohio; two sons, Danny Ray Howard Jr. of Louisville, Ohio, and Christopher Matthew Howard of Buckhannon; three daughters, Anna Patterson of Alliance, Ohio, Crystal Grimm of Massillon, Ohio and Nikki Howard of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Brandon Howard and Christopher Matthew Howard of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Kayla Howard of Alliance, Ohio, Chloe Grimm of Massillon, Ohio, and Katelyn Howard of Buckhannon; five brothers, John Howard of Minerva, Ohio, Roger Howard of Hampton, Junior Nitz of Minerva, Ohio, Steve Nitz of Dalton, Ohio, and Teddy Nitz of Minerva, Ohio; and four sisters, Barbara Baum of Alliance, Ohio, Sherry Small of Carrolton, Ohio, Linda Nitz of Carrolton, Ohio and Sondra Bailey of Minerva, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Janet Howard of French Creek.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carlton Earl Howard.
He was a logger.

Helen Virginia Pritt Howell, 83, a resident of Valley Bend, departed this life Tuesday evening, May 10, 2005, at her home. She had been in declining health.
She was born Tuesday, July 5, 1921, at Beverly, a daughter of the late Howard Pritt and Virgie Kyle Pritt.
On July 2, 1943, at San Bernardino, Calif., she was married to Estel Blake “Eck” Howell, who preceded her in death Nov. 17, 2003. She and “Eck” were inseparable during their more than 60 years of marriage, which produced three children.
Surviving are one son, Howard W. Howell and wife, Gale Poe Howell, of Elkins; two daughters, Barbara “Arleen” Starn and husband, Don Starn, of Valley Bend and Lynda Kay Stottlemyer and husband, Jim Stottlemyer, of Elkins; one sister, Kathryn Pritt Johnson of Wooster, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Ruby Howell Poe of Charleston; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are three brothers, Howard Junior “June” Pritt, Lloyd Hugh “Bus” Pritt and Harold “Wimpy” Phares.
She attended the schools of Randolph County, and was a graduate of Beverly High School with the class of 1939 where she was a member of the girls basketball team. She had worked with the Smart Shop Dress Store and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a longtime resident of 1301 S. Henry Ave. in South Elkins where she was a homemaker and well known for her skills as a seamstress. Upon retirement, she and “Eck” moved to the Valley Bend community where they resided for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Valley Bend United Methodist Church and served as secretary of the Greenwood Cemetery Association for many years. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, was an avid bird watcher and was a proud and loving grandmother.

Prudence A. “Prudy” Howell, 58, a resident of Heavner Acres, Elkins, passed away, Sunday, March 13, 2005, at 11:10 a.m., in Davis Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two days. She had been in failing health since 1987; however, death was unexpected.
Born Nov. 23, 1946, in Elkins, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Sara Edith Wilfong Scallon.
On July 22, 1972, she was united in marriage to Junior E. Howell, who survives at Heavner Acres. They would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in July.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah A. Ashby and husband, Greg, of Davis; and one brother, Charles “Sam” Scallon of Coalton. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Claudia Ann, Dominique Paige, Xzandra Aaliyah and Travis Waylon Ashby; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Prudy was a graduate of St. Brendan Catholic School. She was a nurse’s aide at Memorial General Hospital for several years and a homemaker. Prudy was a former bowler and loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren. She as a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church. Prudy will be sadly missed by her friends and family and will remain in their hearts forever.

Zelma K. Howell
Zelma Kate Howell, 58, a resident of Coalton, passed away Monday evening, July 25, 2005, in the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born Sept. 18, 1946, at Harding, a daughter of Goldie Corley, who survives, and the late Herman "Mutt" Corley. She was twice married, first to Earnest Lee Phillips, who preceded her in death May 2, 1985. On Sept. 5, 1985, she was married to Timothy Howell, who survives at Coalton.
Also surviving is one son, Herman Lee Phillips of Crystal Springs; one adopted son, Roger Allen Leary of Coalton; one daughter, Goldie Michelle Phillips of Coalton; and one sister, Sarah Lee Miller of North Carolina. Four grandchildren, Benjamin Phillips, Nancy Jane Pudder, Mathew Loren Pudder and Christopher Ray Deusenberry; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
One sister, Mary Kay Coger, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Howell was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the Belington Church of the Nazarene.

Wilma R. Huffman
Mrs. Wilma R. Huffman, 85, of Franklin, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.
She was a homemaker and a member of North Fork Apostolic Church.
She was born Aug. 17, 1919, at Cherry Grove, the daughter of the late Edward Raines and Maggie Murphy Raines.
On Aug. 12, 1939, she married Hansel S. Huffman, who preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1983.
Surviving are a special friend, Junius Glen Miller of Franklin; one daughter, Beverly “June” Phares of Circleville; three sons, Teddy Huffman of Canton, Ohio, Willard Huffman and Berlie Joe Huffman, both of Franklin; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, four brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Gladys B. Hughes
Gladys Brown Wilt Hughes, 92, a resident of Nella’s Inc., passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 24, 1912, at Brownsville, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry S. Wilt and Marry Ellen Brown Wilt.
On Jan. 9, 1937, she was married to Bernard E. Hughes, a former educator and superintendent of Hampshire County schools, who preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1998.
Mrs. Hughes was blessed with two daughters, Holly Hughes Reilly, who survives in Elkins with her husband, Robert Reilly, and Zan Hughes also of Elkins. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Leo Patrick Reilly and Phillip Bernard Reilly, both of Elkins; and nieces and nephew in Pennsylvania and Florida.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Dr. Harold L. Wilt and Raymond Wilt; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Edwards.
Mrs. Hughes and her family made their home in Brownsville, Gettysburg and Hanover, Pa., and then settled in Romney. She was an elementary school teacher and touched the lives of many students before retirement after 35 years with the West Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. She and her husband traveled extensively and enjoyed participating in two square dance clubs and golfing at The Summit near Winchester, Va. She also became active with the county, state and national Republican party. She was stricken ill with Alzheimer’s Disease five years ago.
At the request of the deceased, her remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date at Lafayette Memorial Park in Pennsylvania. Bethene V. Hull, 94, a resident of Buckhannon, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at her home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice of Buckhannon.
She was born Nov. 25, 1911, at Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Albert Tenney and Stella Glass Tenney.
On Jan 26, 1942, she was married to Hugh Hull, who preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1995.
Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Nancy (Grill) Hull Wilson of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Beth Ann and husband, Rick Rickman, and Lori Jan and husband, Scott Heater, all of Buckhannon; four great-granddaughters, Ariana Rickman, Alison Rickman, Abigail Rickman and Reagan Heater, all of Buckhannon; and two sisters Margie Reese of Clarksburg and Letha Hinkle of Barberton, Ohio.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Bernard Hugh Hull; three brothers, Kiser Tenney, Ellee Tenney and Victor Tenney; and one sister, Fleta Hull.
She was a homemaker.
Friends were received Sunday at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services were today at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment followed in Buckhannon Memorial Park at Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.   From 12 Dec 2005.

Terry L. Hull
Terry Lynn Hull, 58, of Walkersville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.
Mr. Hull was born May 7, 1947, to the late William R. and Agnes F. Curry Hull.
He is survived by two daughters, Tracie Lynn and Tara Lynn Hull, both of Morgantown; three brothers, William F., Joseph S. and M. Boone Full, all of Walkersville; and one sister, Debra S. Hornick of Elkins.
Mr. Hull was a member of the Ireland United Methodist Church and a truck driver for the J.F. Allen Co.
Friends and family may join for a viewing ceremony from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Nov. 19, 2005, at the Alkire Funeral Chapel in Ireland. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at the Alkire Funeral Chapel with Rev. Earl Cayton officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Reta M. Hunt
Reta Mildred Hunt, 86, a resident of Crawford, the Heaston Ridge community, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Imogene Howes.
She was born July 27, 1919, at Gaines, a daughter of the late Edward E. and Retha Maude Fisher Lee.
She was married to Harley D. Hunt, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three children, Dale Hunt and wife, Carolyn, of Buckhannon, Imogene Howes and husband, Harold, and Cecil Hunt and wife, Cindy, all of Crawford; six grandchildren, Robbie Hunt and wife, Daisy, Jason Howes and wife, Jessy, Sarah Howes, Donna Snider and husband, Rex, Rebecca Hunt Ford and husband, Wayne, and Michael Hunt; and four great-grandchildren, April Hunt, Keelin and Atlee Howes and Stephanie Ford.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Page Lee; and one sister, Fern Friend.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Heaston United Methodist Church and a member of the WSCS at Heaston United Methodist Church.
Viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. On Friday she will be moved to Heaston United Methodist Church where she will lie in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the service hour. The Rev. Anthony Hymes
Anthony “Joe” Hymes, 64, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 18, 2005, in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Belington, he retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He was a member of many, many fraternal organizations and Local 2 Steel Workers.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hymes; sons, David and Debbie Hymes, Michael Hymes; stepson, Rodney and Jodi Eddinger; three grandsons, Michael, Adam and Alex; brother, Robert and Glenda Hymes; sisters, Levera Everson, Mary Corley and Jeanie Hymes; five brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Cope officiating. Calling hours were Wednesday before services. Burial services will be private.  From 21 Apr 2005.

Elinor I. Hymes
Elinor Imogene Randolph Hymes of Buckhannon passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005.
She was born at Lost Creek on Sept. 28, 1924, to Aubrey Wallace Randolph and Maude Mae Lewis Randolph of Lost Creek.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wilson, Lyle and Ernest Randolph.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Myron B. Hymes Jr., and children, Nicholas Wilson Hymes and wife, Kathleen, of Austin, Texas, Cecile Beth Johnston and husband, David, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Myron Mark Hymes of Gaithersburg, Md. Also surviving are grandchildren, Sarah Nicole Hymes and Laura Elizabeth Hymes of Texas, Spencer David Johnston of Virginia Beach, Va., Connor Nicholas Hymes and Kendall Elizabeth Hymes of Maryland; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lyle (Ruby) Randolph of Weston and Mrs. Ernest (Lenora) Randolph of Lost Creek.
Imogene was educated at Lost Creek High School and graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1947. She attended Wesleyan on scholarship as a recipient of the Carnegie Hero Fund Award and was a Bobcat cheerleader for four years. Imogene worked as a home demonstration agent in Randolph and Upshur counties after graduation.
Imogene was married to Myron Bernard Hymes on Aug. 21, 1949, and moved to Baltimore, Md., where she taught in the Baltimore County Schools while Myron completed his formal education. Imogene “Imy” and Myron “Myke” returned to Buckhannon in 1951, and Imogene was a homemaker while her children were at home. When her children left home, Imogene worked as a full-time dental assistant with her husband until their retirement in 1991.
She was active in the PEO Sisterhood, where she was past president; St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, where she was a volunteer of the year; and the First United Methodist Church, where she served on the administrative board for several terms. She was a past president of the Junior Women’s Club. She was also a past president of the West Virginia Wesleyan College Emeritus Club. She was an avid skier, enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and any civic activity she was involved with.
Imogene lived in and served the Buckhannon community for more than 60 years. She will be remembered lovingly by her family and many surviving friends.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Mark Flynn and the Rev. Dr. Charles Godwin officiating. Burial will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon or the West Virginia Wesleyan College Emeritus Club.   From 26 Apr 2005.

Elva L. Hymes
Mrs. Elva Louise Gibson Hymes, 81, a former resident of Belington and more recently a resident of Monpointe Continuing Care Center in Morgantown, departed this life at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at the care facility.
She was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Taswell and Edna Lanham Gibson.
On Feb. 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Elvin Lee Hymes, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1999.
Mrs. Hymes is survived by three sisters and two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
She attended the schools of Barbour County, was a cook at Tygart Restaurant, a homemaker and a member of the Concord United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Junior Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. F.L. “Wink” McQuain officiating. Interment will then follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Concord United Methodist Church, in care of Brian Poling, P.O. Box 231, Belington, W.Va. 26250. Bonita M. Hyre
Bonita Mary Hyre, 92, a resident of Route 6, Buckhannon, the Tennerton community, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at her home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1912, at Gould, the daughter of the late Opha and Minerva Grose Tenney.
She was twice married. First to Dane Bosley, who preceded her in death in 1941. Second to Frank Hyre, who preceded her in death in 1966.
Surviving are one son, Ronnie Lee Bosley and wife, Wyn, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Helen Potts and husband, Dutch, of Bridgeport and Karen Smith and husband, Doyle, of Rootstown, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, Norma Lou Bosley, Rose Ann Mearns Keifer and Loretta Sue Hanifan; one brother, Lowell Tenney; and oldest grandson, Tim Koon.
She was a retired cook and had worked at Rainbow Restaurant. She was affiliated with the Methodist faith and the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. She served as a past trustee of the Gould Church and was instrumental in the maintenance and upkeep of the church and cemetery. She as past commander of the Women’s Disabled American Veterans of French Creek Chapter 36.
Viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Charles E. Hyre
Charles Edward Hyre, 71, a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., departed this life early Saturday morning, Dec. 3, 2005, at Imperial Point Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
He was born Nov. 4, 1934, at Frenchton, a son of the late Herbert P. Hyre and Agnes McClain Hyre of Buckhannon.
Surviving are a sister, Ethel Hyre Johnston of Rock Cave; a brother, Herbert P. Hyre Jr. and wife, Betty, of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews. A special friend, Scott Hamilton, also survives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack R. Hyre, in 1951.
He graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School with the class of 1953. He attended the School of Art in Pittsburgh. He was an interior designer and an antique dealer in New York City and the Philadelphia area for several years before retiring to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
To honor the deceased’s wishes, cremation will take place and no services.   From 6 Dec 2005.

Clifford Hyre
Clifford Hyre, 95, a former resident of Route 1, Elkins, passed away at 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.
He was born Dec. 9, 1909, at Elkins, a son of the late Albert Hyre and Cynthia Weese Hyre.
He was married to the former Russie Jean Strawder, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty Schoonover; one grandson, Robert J. Schoonover and wife, Julie; and one great-grandson, Shawn Schoonover, all of Elkins. One sister-in-law, Mrs. Mason Strawder of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding him in death were four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Hyre worked as a coal miner most of his life and retired from Elkins City Water Department. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 1938 and Elkins Church of the Brethren.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Walter H. David Darwin Hyre, 64, a resident of 124 Edgewood Ave., Clarksburg, and 204 Washington Ave., Elkins, departed this life Sunday afternoon, July 17, 2005, at his home in Elkins. He had been in declining health for the past 10 months and death was attributed to cancer.

David D. Hyre
David Darwin Hyre, 64, a resident of 124 Edgewood Ave. in Clarksburg and 204 Washington Ave. in Elkins, departed this life Sunday afternoon, July 17, 2005, at his home in Elkins. He had been in declining health for the past 10 months and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Wednesday, May 14, 1941, a son of the late Bert Thomas Hyre and Roselee Kerns Hyre.
On July 29, 1962, he was married to the former Polly Hughes, who survives at Clarksburg.
Also surviving are two sons, Steven David Hyre and wife, Terri L., of Philippi and Philip Alan Hyre and wife, Penny J., of Lumberport; four grandsons, Joshua T. and Justin S. of Philippi and Travis and Jacob of Lumberport; two aunts, Frances Harper and husband, Jack, and Edith Falk and husband, Edward, all of Elkins; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1959 and had attended barber college in Pittsburgh, Pa. He had owned and operated Second Street Barber Shop at Clarksburg for 15 years, had drove freight truck for Cook Motor Line, and worked as a maintenance man at Arbors at Fairmont for 15 years before retiring in January 2004. He was a member of Adamson Lodge 263 IOOF, Golden Rule Rebekah Lodge 89, and attended the Shinnston Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his sons and grandsons.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Wednesday, July 20, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Larry Chaffins and the Rev. Mike Delligatt will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens, formerly the IOOF Cemetery. Scott E. Hyre
Mr. Scott Everett Hyre, 40, a resident of Heavner Acres, Elkins, passed away Sunday morning, April 24, 2005, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 13, 1964, in Silver Springs, Md., a son of the late John William Hyre Jr. and Elizabeth Eudora Tacy Hyre, who survives in Columbia, Md.
Also surviving are his wife, Berneda Marsh of Elkins; maternal grandmother, Geneva Tacy, who resides with Stephen and Dottie Snyder of Buckhannon. A goddaughter, Hope Huffman of Century; a brother, John William Hyre III and wife, Brenda, of Valley Bend; a sister, Pam Hyre of Hagerstown, Md., seven nieces and nephews, four great-nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and many friends also survive.
Also preceding him in death were a sister, Patricia Horn; maternal grandfather, Everett H. Tacy; and paternal grandparents, Virginia Bessie Hyre and John William Hyre.
Scott was a graduate of Wheaton High School in Wheaton, Md., and was disabled.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Wamsley and the Rev. Richard Crickard officiating. Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville.
