Ronnie Quarles


Ronnie Quarles, 50, of the Sundial area of Naoma, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Charleston Area Medical Center General, after a long illness. Born July 7, 1950, in Edwight, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Lorraine Bonds Quarles. Mr. Quarles was a disabled employee of Perfomance Coal Co., Montcoal, and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of Assembly of God Church, Sundial, and the nephew of Grand Ol' Opry member "Little Jimmy" Dickens. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Quarles; a brother-in-law, Eudell Dickerson; and his in-laws, the Rev. Willie and Irene August. Survivors include his wife, Greta August Pettry Quarles; two stepdaughters, Tina Givens and her companion, Ronnie Williams of Horse Creek and Theresa Scarbro and her husband, Robert, of Arnett; four stepsons, Kent Pettry and his wife, Melissa, of Rock Creek, Billy Joe Pettry and his wife, Nan, and John Pettry, all of Sundail, and Wendell Pettry and his wife, Dee, of Stickney; five sisters, Diana Dickerson and Claudette Cameron and her husband, William, all of Rock Creek, Kay Miller and her husband, Jackie, of Horse Creek, Frances Coffey and her husband, John, of Virginia, and Anita Meadows and her companion, John Price, of Whitesville; two brothers, David Quarles of Rock Creek and Gary Quarles and his wife, Patty, of Horse Creek; a half sister, Judy Bonds Besseas of Charlottesville, Va.; 13 stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Assembly of God Chruch, Sundial, with the Rev. J.D. Pettry officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas.
