Thelma Mae Hyde Phillips


PENSACOLA, Fla. - Thelma Mae Hyde Phillips, 82, formerly of Beckley, died at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in Arbors Nursing Home, Pensacola, following a long illness. Born Aug. 12, 1917, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. Tolliver and Nellie Isabella Williams Tolliver. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith. She had been a resident of Florida for the past three years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Hyde; her second husband, Robert Phillips; two brothers, James and Robert Tolliver; two sisters, Dorothy Wardrup and Mary Margie Buttrick; and two infant brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Naomia Hyde Brooke of Beckley and Alfreda D. Hyde Cyrus of Pensacola; a brother, Rolland A. Tolliver of Warren, Mich.; four sisters, Loretta Hartsog and her husband, Buford, of MacArthur, Melita Tolliver of Beckley, Arzella Cox of Stanaford and Charlotte Farley of Pensacola; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Roy Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends called 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley.
