MULLENS - Edna P. Cook, 89, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born March 27, 1912, at Mullens, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary Mullins Phillips. Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and the granddaughter of A.J. Mullins, founder of Mullens. She was a retired school teacher, retiring from the Wyoming County Board of Education, having taught at Herndon and Mullens Elementary schools. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Cook; four brothers, Roy, Drew, George and Paul Phillips; and three sisters, Virginia Jordan, Mary Ann Phillips, and Adys Ramey. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Morgan and her husband, Randall, of Baileysville; a granddaughter, Betsy McNaughton and her husband, Scott, and a great-grandson, Daniel Scott McNaughton, all of Portage, Mich.; and two sisters, Dorothy Teneyck of Arkansas and Gladys Pendry of Jacksonville, Fla. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens.
