WILLIAM C. TRIPLETT, born 16 February 1918 in Pennsylvania or West Virginia, was adopted by - or at least lived with - John Triplett and Ella Ralston, married in Washington County, Ohio in 1906. According to the West Virginia Memory Project, his parents were Mr. and Mrs. William McCullough.

At East St. Louis, Illinois, 19 September 1940, William C. Triplett enlisted in the Quartermaster Corps, U. S. Army; enlistment for the Philippines. He had a grammar school education, worked as a farm hand, and resided in Pleasants County, W.Va.

The death of William C. Triplett occurred on April 1, 1942 at Saunders Memorial Hospital, Florence, South Carolina. According to his death record, the day before, 31 March 1942, he sustained a fractured skull, parietal region, with cerebral hemorrhage. The injury occurred "Near Sellers, S.C., along railroad tracks." The manner of the injury was not determined. The record indicates he was a soldier in the U. S. Army, Quartermaster Detachment, Fort Bragg, N. C.
