ROBERT HERMAN BELL, born 26 Oct 1896 at Grape Island, Pleasants County, W.Va., was the son of Robert Amstrong Bell and Margaret Ellen White, married in Pleasants County in 1887.

In Pleasants County, W.Va., 12 July 1918, Robert Herman Bell, 21, married Hazel Fern Pollard, 20. Both were born in Pleasants County and they resided there. A son, Robert Herman Bell, Jr., was born 3 January 1919 in Pleasants County, per birth record.

Following the death of her husband, Hazel Pollard Bell married Rosamond Roby in Parkersburg 6 August 1927.

DEATH NOTICE: Name and Date of Newspaper Unknown - ROBERT HERMAN BELL - The body of Private Robert Herman Bell, aged 21 years, 11 months, and 9 days, who died in Camp Lee, VA, Saturday, October 5, arrived at his home at Raven Rock, Tuesday evening. Young Bell's death was due to Spanish influenza and bronchial pneumonia. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bell, and was a popular young man. Funeral services were held at the Mt. Carmel Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Mt. Carmel cemetery.
