STEVE VICH, born 2 September 1926 in St. Clairsville, Belmont County, Ohio, was the son of Mike and Anna (Merita) Vich (per two sisters' obituaries), both born in Austria. The family is found in the 1930 census of Smithfield, Jefferson County, Ohio.

The father, Mike Vich, died 3 October 1930 in Jefferson County, Ohio. Steve Vich enlisted in the U. S. Army 5 January 1945 at Ft. Hayes, Columbus, Ohio.

According to the American Battle Monuments Commission, Steve Vich's state of residence was Pleasants County, West Virginia, presumably when he re-enlisted to serve during the Korean War. He was seriously wounded 15 September 1950 and then returned to duty. A month later he was killed.
