Margaret Mitchell
Margaret Martha Mitchell, 85, of Sugar Grove, passed away, Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Pendleton Manor.
She was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Sugar Grove, a daughter of the late Martin and Geneva (Simmons) Propst.
Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker. She was a member of Crummett Run Church of the Brethren, where she taught
Sunday school and was also a member of VFW Post 9666 Ladies’ Auxiliary. She enjoyed writing the Upper South Fork news for the Pendleton Times and lodging hunters during hunting season.Husband, Warren M. Mitchell, whom she married July 10, 1943, survives at Pendleton Manor.
Also surviving are three sons, Dennis Sherman Mitchell and wife, Phyllis, of Alexandria, VA, Ray Ronald
Mitchell and wife, Phyllis, of Harrisonburg, VA and Lanny Warren Mitchell of Brandywine; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Dean Mitchell.
A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Crummett Run Cemetery with the
Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to Pendleton Manor, P.O. Box 700, Franklin, WV 26807.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA.
Mary Elizabeth Eckard
Mary Elizabeth Eckard, age 82, of Sugar Grove, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Pendleton Manor.
She was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late William Ernest and Dora Mae
(Simmons) Rexrode.Mrs. Eckard was a homemaker, who lovingly devoted her time and attention to her family. She enjoyed baking,
cooking, gardening and embroidering. She was a member of St. Paul Independent Lutheran Church and VFW Post 9666 Ladies’ Auxiliary.Her husband, Eldon Eckard, whom she married on Oct. 11, 1957 survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Linda Sue Sheffer of Lacey Spring, VA; granddaughter, Mary “Renee” Saylor
and husband, Edward, of Lacey Spring, VA; two great-grandchildren, Laura Renee Moyers of Clover Hill, VA and Timothy John Eckard of Lacey Spring, VA; and four sisters, Virginia Pitsenbarger of Amherst, VA, Lena Shifflett of Grottoes, VA, Annie Simmons of Bridgewater, VA and Norma Propst of Moyers.She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Rexrode and Louella Rexrode, and a brother, Robert
Russell Rexrode.A funeral service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Independent Lutheran Church with the Rev.
Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Violet Marie (Kite) "Kitie" Mitchell, age 82 of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at her residence.
She was born at Grove Hill, VA on April 16, 1930, the daughter of the late Leonard and Florence Gochenour
Kite.She married Delmar "Hurl" Mitchell on September 4, 1954 who preceded her in death on April 29, 2006.
Mrs. Mitchell graduated in 1947 from Shenandoah High School in Page County, VA and was a 1950 graduate of
Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Franklin Main Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being with her friends and loved playing cards and bingo. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and devoted her life to her family and community.Kitie was inducted as the Public Health Nurse on April 4, 1966 and also served as the Pendleton County School
Nurse until she retired on April 30, 1992. After her retirement, she continued working for the Pendleton Nursing Home until 2007.Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ann Woodward and husband Timothy "Woody" of Franklin, Brenna Kay
Mitchell and husband Samuel Cochran of Sugar Grove; two sons, Bradford "Brad" Hurl Mitchell and wife Jo Lynn of Franklin, Benjamin "Ben" Wade Mitchell and wife Dinah of Sugar Grove; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Alisha, Kristen, Rachel, Blair, Ryan, Myra Mitchell, Ginny, and Kalee Woodward; and several nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and William Kite and two sisters, June Comer and
Frances Cole.Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin with Rev. Bob Anderson
and Pastor Brad Mitchell officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Sugar Grove.The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ollie Mae Sutton, age 95, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Pendleton Manor where she was a resident
since May 2002.She was born on April 10, 1917 near Franklin, NC and was the daughter of the late William Homer and Lily
Almeda Buchanan Guffey.Mrs. Sutton was a homemaker and a life-long member of the Wesleyanna United Methodist church, Savannah
Community, Sylva, NC.Her husband, Coleman Hamilton (Nannie) Sutton, preceded her in death on October 21, 1974.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Lois Sutton of Franklin, GA; a daughter, Barbara Lou Sutton Bennett of
Circleville; five grandchildren, Richard Bennett and wife Debbie, Rose Thompson, Leah Frank and husband Bill, Lori Butcher and husband Doug, Judy Jiles and husband Wendell; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, William Hamilton "Bill" Sutton; two grandsons, William Coleman "Bill" Bennett, David Lee Bennett; a son-in-law, Glenn R. Bennett; three brothers, Frank, Radford, Benjamin Guffey; and a sister, Margie Sumner.Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Melton Funeral Home Chapel., Sylva, NC, with Rev. Dan
Stiles officiating. Interment will be at Wesleyanna United Methodist Church Cemetery, Savannah Community, Sylva, NC.The family will receive friends on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
