WILL OF JESSE WHEAT Submitted by Linda Sodaro. Ohio Co, WV Will book 5. page 404 In the name of God Amen, I Jesse S. Wheat of the City of Wheeling in the County of Ohio and State of West Virginia, being of sound mind and memory, make this my last will and testament. I give and bequeath to each of my children, Edward Parks Wheat, Walter Hazlett Wheat. Alonzo Dean Wheat, James Mulican Wheat, and Hattie Wallace Wheat. The sum of Five dollars to be paid to them after my decease by the Executrix of my will. And to my wife Rebecca Wheat, I give and bequeath all and every of the remainder of my property or Estate both Real and Personal of whatever kind of which I may be seized or possessed And I hereby constitute and appoint my wife Rebecca Wheat to be the sole Executrix of this my last Will without security. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 10th day of july in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & seventy five Jesse S. Wheat the testator in the presence of each of us, And was at the same time declared by him to be his last Will and Testament and we at his request sign our names hereto as attesting witnesses James H. Cook John T. Schrader page 405 County Court of Ohio County West Virginia December (20) Term 1879 Jesse S. Wheat Will The last Will and testament of Jesse S. Wheat deceased, late of Ohio County bearing date the 10th day of July AD 1879, was this day in open court presented for probate, and the said Will having been fully proved by the oaths of James H. cook and John T. Schrader, the subscribing witnesses thereto, the said Will is by the court admitted to probate and ordered to be recorded. Thereupon Rebecca Wheat (widow) the Executrix named in the aforesaid Will of Jesse S. Wheat, appraised in open court and was duly sworn as such Executrix and entered unto and acknowledged a bond in a penalty of Thirteen thousand Dollars conditioned according to law-the security being required by the terms of said Will.
