I am a direct descendant of Mattias Ulrich and his son Christopher Hershman who are both buried in Beaver Run Cemetery, near Patterson Creek, in what used to be Hampshire County. Mattias died in 1802; Christopher in 1844. Christopher's gravestone reads "Revolutionary War Soldier" - I'm still trying to get that documentation. My maiden name was Hersman. I am trying to locate Christopher's will and death records - he died in Feb, 1844. Most of the family moved to Roane Co around the 1830's. I'm willing to share my info - hope you have a little bit for me. Thanks

Are you aware there is a book called the All Leatherman Kin History, by the Rev. I. John Leatherman, written in 1940, updated in 1991 by Mr. Donald Brougher, and about to be updated again? The LEATHERMAN'S of Hampshire Co, now Mineral Co, WV have been traced back to Hans Diebold/DeWalt Lederman who emigrate fromAlsace in 1727. I descended from Abraham, 4th generation; through his daughter Nancy who married Adam FLEEK in Hampshire Co., VA in 1813. (Sure would like to find the record). Abraham had 24 children with 3 wives, so there must be many descendents from this area.

Looking for information on my gggrandfather, Augustus Luthur ??. Augustus is supposed to have been born on March 27, 1852 in Mineral County. He was taken to Keokuk, Co Iowa in the fall of 1853 at the age of 1 1/2 yrs. I am trying to determine who his parents are. He is found on the Iowas 1856 census as Gustas L. HARVEY (4) living with James B. (45) and Mary (42) HARVEY and Rachael FRIEND (14). On the 1860 state census he is listed as A L ANDERSON (8) living with James and Mary HARVEY, Jane ANDERSON (30) and Rachael FRIEND (18). In 1870, he again is listed a s A L Anderson and living with the HARVEY'S and using the last name HARVEY. He married Addie E. HERRINGTON (8-31-1880) in IA and used the last name HARVEY throughout his adulthood. I believe James B. and Mary (JUNKINS) HARVEY were also from Mineral County, and were married on 9-22-1833. According to various records, they never had children of their own. I have no idea whether Jane ANDERSON is Augustus' mother, or if he is somehow related to the HARVEY'S (he is never listed as their relative on the census . Any information would be greatly appreciated. It appears that a brother of Mary's also ended up in Keokuk Co, IA. Thanks!!

Seeking additional information on the Malone Family which settled in Fort Ashby, WV, Mineral (Hampshire County) around the late 1700's and early 1800's.
James and his wife (Elizabeth...only first name is on the stone) are buried in a small family plot located along Route 28 outside of town. Also buried there is his son George and his wife Susan Wagoner. The third generation there is Michael Marcelus Malone. I have reason to believe George had additional children, however, I can find no information. Michael M. Malone married Alice Virginia Alkire daughter of John Alkire and Katherine Daniels.
