RICHARD CROWL born at Brownsville, Fayette county, Pennsylvania, in 1826, was a son of Jacob and Sarah (Gumert) Crowl. His mother has been many years dead. His father was born in 1786, and died in Mannington district in 1872. Richard Crowl located here in 1837. In Mannington district he now owns and carries on a farm, and he is also a contractor on public works. He married a native of Harrison county, Amy Cavalier, and their children were nine. Silas J., who married Mary V. Keller, and has one daughter, Amy B., and lives in this district; Sarah A., married M. J., Anderson, they had two sons, Ira V. and Thomas, and the latter is deceased, as is Sarah A., who died March 9, 1876 Jesse F. and Jacob J., twins, born December 22, 1856 -- Jacob J. died June 5, 1883; Jesse died June 30, 1880; Rebecca L. married F. L. Hamilton, of Fairmont, and they have two children, Lexie and Lulie P.; Willy A., born March 9, 1861, James F., Timothy A., and Jennie B. - these four at home. Willy A., for whom this sketch is compiled, is a school teacher, and may be addressed at Mannington, Marion county, West Virginia.
