Welcome to the Lincoln County, West Virginia, site for the WVGenWeb Project, part of the USGenWeb Project,

       Lincoln County was first formed in 1867 from Kanawha, Boone, Putnam, and Cabell counties.
Lincoln was required to return land to Putnam County, but added parts of Wayne and Logan counties.
Lincoln was 53rd of our 55 West Virginia counties and was named for Abraham Lincoln,
the 16th president of the United States, who had been assassinated two years earlier, in April 1865.
