Looking for information on my great-grandfather. I have an obituary notice but little
other information(all of the following quotes are from the obituary notice). His name was
ANDREW JACKSON WEBB, born 29 October 1840 and died 26 September 1924. He was "an old
Civil war veteran" and "he fired Lee's last cannon probably the last shot fired
in the Civil war." "He was buried in the Glen Ferris Cemetary(WV)."
"He was a native of Virginia"(have heard possibly Free Union in Albermarle
County or Fork Union in Fluvanna County). "He came to Fayette County,WV with the
Imbodens"(I know Imboden was somehow involved in land sales and coal exploration
after the Civil War). "He resided between Gauley Bridge and Glen Ferris, WV." He
was survived by his wife MARTHA WASHINGTON PHELPS and children(have most of this info).
Being in Atlanta, I have trouble getting local area info. Planning a trip in the near
future to the Glen Ferris and Charleston areas. Trying to learn as much as possible prior

born in Virginia on 17 February 1774. By the mid-1790's, he was paying taxes in Washington
County, Kentucky. Local family folklore has it that Lewis came from a place called
Capperton. There is no Capperton in Virginia---nor in West Virginia which, of course, was
part of Virginia when Lewis was born. I'm told, however, that there IS a Caperton and that

- I am looking for information about a couple who lived in Scarbro, WV, in the 30's and
40's. The husband's name was William Tolbert, and his second wife was Anna Lucretia
Larwood Tolbert. Although Larwood was her maiden name, Anna Lucretia may have been married
before she married William. In the 30's, this couple adopted a daughter, Anna Mae Tolbert.
I also understand that William had two children from a previous marriage, Mattie Mae and
Claude, and that Claude had a son named Morris. If anyone has ANY kind of information
about any of these people, I would love to hear it. Thank you.
