Funeral
services over
the remains of
the late Brice
Brashear, were
held at his
home at the
corner of 10th
and Commerce
Streets,
(Wellsburg) on
Thursday
morning,
conducted by
the Rev. G. A.
Allison, of
the M.E.
Church.
Services were
held later at
the Franklin
Cemetery,
where the body
was laid to
rest. The
members of
Brooke Lodge
I.O.O.F. held
services on
Wednesday
evening and
furnished the
pall bearers
for the
funeral.
Brice
V. Brashear
was born June
19, 1836.
Served 3 years
in Co. G. 1st
West Virginia
Infantry,
during the
Civil War and
then
re-enlisted
for 9 months
service but
was not
called.
He
was the eldest
son of George
and Elizabeth
Brashear --
all other
members of his
family having
preceded him
in death as
follows:
Morse, Mary,
Rebecca, and
Agnes. A
half-brother
of the
deceased is
Winfield
SHRINKLER, of
Alliance,
Ohio.
The
deceased is
survived by
the widow,
whom he
married here
Nov. 18, 1911,
by Rev.
Riddle. Her
maiden name
was Cassander
Bell HEATON.
By a former
marriage the
following
children
survive: Mrs.
Ella FINNEY,
Martins Ferry,
Ohio; Mrs.
Lizzie HEATON,
Mingo Jct.,
Ohio; George
R. BRASHEAR,
Chester, W.
Va., and Clyde
BRASHEAR of
Dillonvale,
Ohio. The
above children
and his
half-brother

Jan.7th, 1907
of dropsy. He
was born in
1822 Upsher
county, this
state and has
lived in this
county 50
years. The
deceased was
married to
Miss Margaret
Soles,
February 19,
1846. He is
survived by a
wife and six
children. The
deceased was
the father of
nine children,
three of which
have been laid
to rest. He
was the
grandfather of
28 living
children and
has 48 living
great
grandchildren
and has 2
living great
great
grandchildren.

his children

Mr. John
Deuley, of
Ashtabula
county, Ohio,
Mr. George

loving husband
and father,
and a very
hard working
man, was a
farm tenant
and was highly
esteemed by
all who knew
him. The
interment was
made in Kadesh
Chapel
Cemetery.

Death
of Hon. Jesse
Edgington
We
announce
to-day, the
death of Hon.
Jesse
Edgington, who
departed this
life, at his
late
residence,
Holiday's
Cove, W.
Virginia, last
night,
Wednesday,
August 1st,
1866, in the
87th year of
his age, "full
of honors and
ripe in
years." Mr.
Edgington was
one of the
first men of
his time. He
was in the
prime of life
a man of no
ordinary
ability, and
leaves a
worthy name.
His father was
the first
settler who
erected a
cabin on the
eastern border
of the state
of Ohio, and
he, Jesse
Edgington,
Esq., was the
oldest lawyer
at his death,
and we believe
among the
first who
practised at
the
Steubenville
bar. He was
for many years
prosecuting
attorney of
Brooke county,
Va., was
representative
four years in
the Senate of
that State,
and was for
many years a
member of the
Governor's
Select
Council. He
was the
associate of
Henry CLAY, of
Philip
DODDRIDGE,
Charles
HAMMOND,
Judges McLEAN,
WRIGHT,
GOODNOW, the
COLLIERS,
& c. He
was a noble
old man, a
gentleman in
the strictest
sense of the
word, and dies
with an
untarnished
reputation,
honored and
respected by
all who knew
him.
His
funeral will
take place
from his late
residence,
Holiday's
Cove,
to-morrow
afternoon at 2
o'clock. The
body is to be
deposited in
the
Steubenville
Cemetery. The
friends and
the public are
respectfully
invited to
attend.

Miriam
Timothy, widow
of Wm.
Timothy, died
at Gill
hospital,
Steubenville,
on Monday at
6:10 a.m.,
aged 63 years
on August 17,
1916. She was
born in
England and
had been in
the United
States 18
years. These
children
survive:
Thomas and
John of
Chester; Mrs.
Matthew Powers
and Mrs. Georg
Hahne, also
two brothers,
John and T. H.
Rogers, of
this city; and
two sisters,
Mrs. Esther
McLean and
Mrs. Joseph
Spechtholz, of
Pittsburgh.
The deceased
was a member
of the
Episcopal
church and was
highly
respected.
Funeral
services were
held Wednesday
afternoon, at
the home of
Mr. and Mrs.
George S.
Hahne, Rev.
Charles G.
Cogley, of
Wellsburg,
officiating.
Interment was
in Brooke
cemetery.
