were married. Her parents, William and Margaret (Williamson) Small, were settlers in Berkeley County. The Sloans had the following children: John H.
Sloan, June 13, 1870-?; Rose L. Sloan, December 14, 1871-August 31, 1877; Charles E. Sloan, August 8, 1873-August 18, 1877; Daniel J. Sloan, June 24,
1875-?; Mary S. Sloan, September 11, 1876-?; Estella L. Sloan, December 20, 1878-?; and Valentine A. Sloan, February 14, 1881-?.
Daniel J. Sloan acted as police for the B & Railroad for a year and was then section boss. His post office address was
Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

Daniel J. SLOAN, son of Lockland and Marta (Linsay) Sloan, was born in Jefferson County, West Virginia November 26, 1846,
and moved to Berkeley County in 1866, settling in the Arden district.
