James ROSS married Catharine KUYKENDALL (spelling not certain) about 1850. She was said to be a native of Barbour County. Her father may have been Simmeon KIRKENDALL who was living in Randolph County in 1840. She was born 5/2/1833. In 1850 she was living with James (age 26) and Hulduh (age 25) YOKUM and their son Creed (age5) in Harrison County. Hulduh may have been her sister.

Robert C. Sollars Fri Nov 15 18:41:42 1996
WILLIAM SOLLARS: When the Revolutionary War began, placing us on the road to independence, William was a lad of 16 years. The following year, September 5, 1777, he enlisted in Captain David Arell's Company, 3rd Virginia Regiment, commanded by Colonel Thomas Marshall, of the Virginia Continental Line. William's enlistment papers record the Sollars surname as Swallers, beginning what would prove to be one of numerous mis-spellings during his service indicating William was not literate. He served in the Rev. War from 1777 through 1779. He wintered at Valley Forge, and saw battle in New Jersey and New York. William Sollars/Sollers is found in the Tax Rolls of Berkeley Co., VA (WV). TAX ROLLS: WILLIAM SOLLERS - 1782 Tax Payer Records, Berkeley County, Virginia (now WV): 1 poll, 0 slaves. WILLIAM SOLLERS - 1783 Tax Payer Records, Berkeley County, Virginia (now WV). 1 horse, 2 cattle, no land. WILLIAM SOLLARS - 1786 Tax Payer Records, Berkeley County, Virginia (now WV). 1 WH. 2 horses. WILLIAM SALLARS - 1787 Tax Rolls, Berkeley Co., VA (charged with tax:Robert Rutherford) NOTE: William visited on 04/28, Robert (below) visited on 04/28. William was two doors away from Robert. Was William a share croper or an overseer for Robert, below? ROBERT RUTHERFORD - 1787, Berkeley Co., VA Tax Rolls: self charged. 1-11- 5-29-28 [legend: White males above 16 yrs and under 21 yrs (1).; black above 16 yrs (11); blacks under 16 yrs (5)); Horses, mares, colts & mules (29); cattle (28).] William Sollars is in the 1820 Census of Harford Co., MD (page 065). This is adjacent to Berkeley Co., VA (WV). This is most likely our subject, suggesting that he was something of a nomad, moving from place to place. This would explain why he fails to appear in many of the census rolls in Ohio, where he died in 1833. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can help further my knowledge of this man.

Richard Burley Mon Nov 11 21:21:19 1996
My grandfather William Milton BURLEY was born in Barbour Co on 23 December 1870. He was the son of James Clark BURLEY of Zanesville, OH and Virginia McPHERSON of Wood Co, WV. The problem is I have not been able to prove this connection. I need help in locating a record of his birth. Sometime after the birth of my grandfather the family moved to Davis, WV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for more information on a family headed by Isaac TETER and his wife (possibly Sarah, possibly Mahala JUDY) who are found in the 1860 Barbour County census according to some old family history I have. The children include Saul, Paul, Garret...Garret is my GGGF. I am trying to find more info on this family and find out if this Isaac is, for sure, the same Isaac who is buried in Pendleton Cty. WV and who was married to Mahala JUDY who is also buried in Pendleton Cty. The siblings of my GGF (Garret's son), Commodore, were said to have mostly remained in WV and so there are probably some relatives out there in the Barbour/Pendleton County areas still!

He married Elizabeth DAVIS.

I'm looking for information on a second marriage of my ancestor Catherine SILVIN c. 1810-26 in the Barbour County region. Her maiden name is SIMON, and she first married Adam RADABAUGH c. 1793 (perhaps in Pennsylvania). They purportedly moved to Chillicothe, OH, where Adam died, but Catherine and the children returned to today's West Virginia. There she shows up in the 1850 census (with a son, Jacob Radabaugh), but now she has the name Catherine Silvin (not Radabaugh) and is 75 years old.

I am searching for information on Aaron McDANIEL who was a veteran of the war of 1812 and lived in Monongalia Co. I believe he was buried in the McDaniels Cemetery at Stone House and that his remains were moved to Marys Chapel Cemetery in 1937 when the Tygart Dam was constructed. I believe he was the son of David McDaniel who in 1790 ran the McDaniels Ferry on the Tygart River at Cecil Station just south of Grafton. Further I believe he is the Father of Aaron S. McDaniel (1791-1866) of Shinnston, Harrison Co., and the grandfather of Aaron McDaniel (1822-1910) who married Satiria GLASSCOCK in Barbour Co in 1845. Confirmation of any of the above or any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Gene McDaniels gene38a@ptconnect.infi.net

I am trying to find the names of Anthony O'BRIEN's parents. I am not sure where he was born but he died in Clarksburg while residing in Clements. I don't know if his Obituary would list his parents names or not. His date of death was may 14, 1910. I would appreciate any information that would help me break through this dead end. He apparently died in a hospital in Clarksburg of an illness.
