BENJAMIN McKIMMY was the son of James McKimmy (and other spelling variations) and Mary Elizabeth Wilt. His brother, Francis McKimmy, also served in Company "E" of the 6th Cavalry. Brother, Marion, served in Company "E" 15th West Virginia Infantry.
This soldier was charged with desertion but the charged was dropped once it was known that he was a Prisoner of War and had escaped.
