WAR OF 1812 CLAIM OF WIDOW FOR PENSION Under the provisions of Sections 4736 to 4740, inclusive, Revised Statutes, and the ACT OF MARCH 9, 1878 State of West Virginia, County of Marion, SS On this 24th day of November A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight personally appeared before me James E Merrifield Notary Public within and for the County and State aforesaid (1) Iby McCray aged 91 years a resident of Barrackville in the State of West Virginia who being dully sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of (2) Geo. W. McCray deceased, who was the identical (3) Geo. W. McCray, who served under the name of (4) Geo. W. McCray as a (5) Lieutenant in the Company commanded by Captain (not remembered) Regiment of (not remembered) commanded by (not remembered) in the war of 1812, that her said husband was drafted in Monongalia County Va on or about_____day of____ A.D. for the term of ________________and continued in actual service in said war for the term of (7)___________, and whose services terminated by reason of discharge at Kingwood , Va on the ____day of_________A.D. She further states that the following is a description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: Six feet two in high, Black eves, dark brown hair She further states that she was married to the said George W. McCray at the city (or town) of ______________________in the County of Monongalia and in the State of Virginia on the 2nd day of May A.D. 1819 by of (10) Rev John Smith who was a (11) minister of the Gospel and that her name before her said marriage was Iby Nichalas and that she has not remarried since the death of the said soldier, and she further states that (12) neither has been previously married _____________________________________________________ and that her said husband (13) George W. McCray died at Barrackville in the State of West Virginia on the 28th day of February A.D. 1848 and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the army, viz: (14) Barrackville, West Virginia and she further declares that she got her land warrant in 1856, that she was entitled to for services done in the war of 1812 by her said husband, She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the pension to which she may be entitled under the provisions of Sections 4736 to 4740, inclusive, Revised Statutes, and the Act of March 9, 1878, and hereby constitutes and appoints, with full powers of substitution and revocation, Frank S. Mason of Bellaire Ohio her true and lawful attorney to prosecute her claim.
