Obituary

Mrs. Phoebe Afflect was born Oct. 22nd, 1872 and departed this life at Point Lookout this county, after a protracted illness, Dec. 23rd, 1904, aged 32 years, 2 months and 1 day. She was married to Robert Afflect May 8th, 1894. To them was born two children - Grace and Anna, aged 7 and 9 years, who are left to mourn the loss of a precious mother.

She was converted and joined the M. P. Church at the age of 19 years in which she died an honored member. She was an affectionate wife, a fond mother, a friend to all. The price of such a woman is above rubies. Her suffering was intense but endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

For several weeks before she died, she was very happy praising God and exhorting her friends to meet her in heaven. On the 23rd uit.at 9:20 Death came to her relief and her sweet spirit winged its flight from a land of shadows to a land where the soul shall drink freely from the fountain of bliss, feast on everlasting pleasures. On Christmas afternoon a large congregation assembled at the Bibbee Chapel to pay respect to her memory and after appropriate services, conducted by the writer, we laid her body away in the new graveyard as she had requested before her death. The snow will fall in Winter and flowers bloom in Summer around her tomb, but her soul is where Jesus is, and for this cause those who loved her last and miss her most would not wish her back.

"I go to prepare a place for you" said Christ and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself - also. This gives comfort to the bereavement. May husband, children, and friends so live that when life's history is finished they may all meet in the happy home of the soul. - Yours, Rev. J. W. Bibbee.
