Charles William Kestner was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on March 30, 1889. He died in Moundsville on July 16, 1977. The grandmother of Charles was Mary Henthorn. Charles' wife, Nellie Agnes Morris, was born on August 23, 1889 in Benwood, Marshall County, West Virginia and died in Moundsville on March 17, 1950. Nellie's parents were Civil War Veteran, Samuel Morris, and Susan A. Criswell. [See the obituary of Samuel Morris.]
Robert E. Kestner met Hazel West on Grave Creek. They lived on farms and Robert's father had the hunting and fishing club at his farm. On July 13, 1939, Robert and Hazel were married in Moundsville. Forty years later on their anniversary, their granddaughter, Melissa A. Kestner, was born; both dates were on Friday the 13th.
Hazel West was born in Moundsville on November 14, 1918, the daughter of Forest L. and Nellie (Minor) West. Forest L. West, the son of Simon West, was born September 1, 1882 and died in February 1965. Nellie was born 1880 and died in July 1951. Nellie's parents were Richard S. and Rachael (Wright) Miner.
Robert E. Kestner served during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the American Society of Appraisers and retired from the State of Arizona Right-a-way Department at age 68. He had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Robert's death occurred on October 23, 1998 and was buried at Phoenix Memorial Park, Phoenix, Arizona. Hazel died on January 9, 2005 and she is interred beside her husband.
