  •      *Joe, the oldest of four children of Angelo and Rose Polsinelli, was born and raised in Benwood, W.Va. He has been married to Ina E. Strober Polsinelli and they have resided in McMechen for more than 50 years.
         Ina is very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, having served as Unit President, District President, American Legion Auxiliary Department of West Virginia President, National Executive Committee Woman and National Auxiliary Emergency Fund Chairman. She is currently National Central Division Americanism Chairman.
         Joe & Ina have four children: Elizabeth Ann Polsinelli Wolfe and Joseph Angelo, both of McMechen; Alma Rose Polsinelli Cunningham of Crestview, Florida and Lisa Christine Polsinelli Velas of Jackson, Ohio. The family is complete with 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. All are members of the American Legion, the Auxiliary or the Sons of the American Legion.

    OBITUARY OF JOSEPH SAMUEL POLSINELLI

    Joseph S. Polsinelli, 92, of McMechen, WV, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Reynolds Memorial Skilled Care.

    Joe was born on June 12, 1922 in Benwood, WV, the oldest son of Angelo and Rose Ann Riddolfi Polsinelli.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ina; a sister, Virginia Matesic; one brother, Eugene Polsinelli.

    Joe married Ina E. Strober Polsinelli in Pensacola, Florida, on September 5, 1944. They were married for 67 years. A resident of McMechen for more than 60 years, Joe had four children, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild.

    He served his country from September 15, 1944 to December 7, 1945 during WWII, beginning as an Aviation Machinist mate repairing airplanes at US Naval Air Base, Pensacola, Fl. After his discharge as A.M.M. 1st Class. U.S. Navy Reserves, he was called to the Korean Conflict, June 1950, serving six months in San Diego, CA, servicing airplanes.

    Joe has been an active member of the community and a member of the American Legion Blake Brothers Post #46, Benwood, for 50 years. He served as Trustee for over 15 years and as Department of West Virginia Assistant Sgt. at Arms for the year 2001-2002; State of WV AL Energy and Conservation Chairman; Hilltoppers Model Airplane Club; Honorary member of the Women's Club of McMechen; Marshall County Antique Power Association.

    He worked for 43 years and retired from the B&O Railroad as a Car Man, Crane Operator, and Wreck Master.

    He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, WV, and attended the First Church of God in McMechen.

    Joe is survived by his sister, Rosalie Conti; four children, Beth (Gary) Wolfe, Joseph A. (Georgiann) Polsinelli of McMechen; Alma Cunningham of Crestview, FL; Lisa (Tony) Velas of Grove City, Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Gregg (Kelli) Wolfe, Wendy (Mike) Younger, Todd (Jeanne) Wolfe, Brad (Tonya Coppa) Wolfe, Betsy (Gordon) Nasseri, Joseph (Chrissy) Polsinelli, Justin Polsinelli (Elizabeth Robinson), Alex (Venusja) Yutzey, Preston (Lauren) Yutzey, Adam (Paige) Velas and Ali Velas; great- grandchildren, Dayna and Kimberly Wolfe, Baylee and Taylor Jack, Victoria and Rebecca Younger, Danielle (Steven Gregory) Wolfe, Nicholas Wolfe, Briann (Benton McClelland) Wolfe, Kaydie and Kyle Coppa, Xavier, Zoey and Alexander Nasseri, Riley and Kenzie Polsinelli; great-great-grandchild, Isaac Gregory and many nieces and nephews.

    Friends will be received from 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 with Rev. Mitch Johnson officiating. American Legion Blake Bros., Post #46 services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

    Interment with Military Honor's in McMechen Cemetery.

    Memorial contributions be made to the First Church of God, McMechen or St. John Catholic Church, Benwood.

    OBITUARY OF INA STROBER POLSINELLI

    POLSINELLI, Ina E. (Strober), 87, of McMechen, W.Va., passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, in Wheeling Hospital.

    She was born February 17, 1926, a daughter of the late Erit and Alma (Blake) Strober.

    Ina was member of the First Church of God, McMechen, where over the years she served as Sunday school superintendent and Bible school teacher.

    Ina was a member of Blake Brothers Unit 46 American Legion Auxiliary, where she held many chairmanships and offices including historian, treasurer, 2nd vice president, 1st vice president and president. She was the past First District president and department chairman of foreign relations, education and leadership. She also held the office of historian, 2nd vice president and 1st vice president on department level, and president for the 1999-2000 term. She has been on the Department of WV Auxiliary National Executive Committee and served as the Central Division Auxiliary Emergency Fund chairwoman.

    Ina has been in various other facets of community, county and state efforts, including working with a group to start a youth center in the city that became very popular with the children and teens. She worked with Union and John Marshall band parent organizations, served four years as regional director of the State Parent-Teacher Association, was regional Spelling Bee chairwoman and past Marshall County Council PTA president, and was president of the Center McMechen Elementary School PTA. She holds an honorary life membership in the Marshall County PTA, Ohio County PTA, West Virginia PTA and National PTA.

    Ina held many chairmanships and offices in the Women's Club of McMechen and has served three terms as president, and was currently serving her third term as vice president. She has also served as president of GFWCWV Northern District, and has served on the state board or council for the past 10 years. She was conservation, community improvement and beautification chairwoman on the State level. While working with the Women's Club, she was been instrumental in achieving many things for the city of McMechen. Some projects are street signs; trash containers; Tree City USA; the West Virginia State Flower Bed on State Route 2, which she and her husband personally took care of; crossing lights in the school zone; Christmas lights and flags for the city; and many other beautification and community improvement projects. She was the GFWCWV Woman of the Year for the State of West Virginia in 2009. She also served on the membership team and the scholarship board on the state level, and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

    In addition to her parents, Ina was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Rodriguez and Ashel Marchani.

    Ina is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Joseph S. Polsinelli. They were married in Pensacola, Florida, on September 5, 1944.

    In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children: Beth (Gary) Wolfe, Joseph A. (Georgiann) Polsinelli, Alma Cunningham and Lisa (Tony) Velas; 11 grandchildren: Gregg (Kelli) Wolfe, Wendy (Mike) Younger, Todd (Jeanne) Wolfe, Brad Wolfe (Tonya Coppa), Betsy (Gordon) Nasseri, Joseph (Chrissy) Polsinelli, Justin Polsinelli, Alex (Venusia) Yutzey, Preston Yutzey, Adam Velas and Ali Velas; 15 great-grandchildren: Dayna Wolfe, Kim Wolfe, Baylee Jack, Taylor Jack, Victoria Younger, Rebecca Younger, Danielle Wolfe, Nicholas Wolfe, Beth Wolfe, Kaydie Coppa, Kyle Coppa, Xavier Nasseri, Zoey Nasseri, Alexander Nasseri and Riley Polsinelli; a great-great-grandson, Isaac Gregory; and a sister-in-law, Rosalie Conti.

    Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall St., McMechen, where an American Legion Auxiliary service will be held at 7 p.m.

    Friends will then be received from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the First Church of God, McMechen, with the Rev. Cate Johnston officiating. Interment will be in McMechen Cemetery.

    The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Church of God, 1003 Logan St., McMechen, WV 26040.
