Clarence Willard Vandine, World War I

Researched and written by Linda Fluharty.

In the book, History of Marshall County, by Scott Powell, 1925, under "Entrained for Camp Lee, VA, Sept. 13, 1918," is CLARENCE W. VAN DYNE. He is not otherwise mentioned in the book, nor is anything further known about his service.

For reasons unknown, the name of CLARENCE VANDINE was included in a list of people who died in service, to be inscribed on a monument at the Marshall County Courthouse, Moundsville, this year, 2019. Presumably, the name was added by the committee that is compiling the list.

Clarence Vandine/VanDyne/Van Dyne did not die during the war.

In his World War II registration, he stated his name as Clarence Willard Vandyne, born June 24, 1897 in Pine Grove, West Virginia. He resided at Meighen Avenue, Moundsvile, and was employed at Fostoria Glass Company, Moundsville.
