In the book, History of Marshall County, by Scott Powell, 1925, DENVER P. MARTIN is named as one who was Missing in Action during World War I.
He is named in the West Virginia Blue Book, 1919, as "Missing in Action."
For reasons unknown, his name was included in a list of people who died in service, to be inscribed on a monument at the Marshall County Courthouse, Moundsville, this year, 2019.
He did not die during the war.

According to his WWI Draft Registration, Denver Pearle Martin was born August 9, 1893 in Farmington, West Virginia. At the time of the registration, he was a resident of Cameron, Marshall County, and he worked as a meat cutter for Earl Ray. He signed his name as "Denver Pearle Martin."
He is named on U. S., Army Transport Service, Passenger Lists, 1910-1939,"64th Prov. Company July Inf, Repl, Draft." Private Denver P. Martin's contact person was Cora Martin, Mother, RFD 4, Mannington, W.Va.
The incoming list of passengers that departed on May 16, 1919 from St Nazaire, France, indicates Denver P. Martin had served in the 313th Infantry.
Denver was the son of Andrew Martin and Cora Michael, married in Marion County in 1892. At the time of the 1910 census of Marion County, Andrew and Cora were the parents of Denver P., Jennings, Emma, and Andrew.
In Wheeling, West Virginia, on February 18, 1920, Denver P. Martin, 26, born in Farmington, West Virginia, and residing in Cameron, married Elizabeth Fillimack.
Denver P. Martin married Esther M. Volz in Franklin County, Ohio on August 5, 1925.
In his World War II Draft Registration, Denver Pearl Martin, of Columbus, Ohio, stated he was born on August 9, 1893 in Farmington, West Virginia.
On September 30, 1953, Denver P. Martin, of Columbus, Ohio, married Shirley L. (Harris) Stump in Richmond, Indiana on September 30, 1953.
A death record for Denver Pearl Martin, same birthdate, indicates he died in Walton, Florida in 1977.
