Sergeant Franklin Delano Porter

Franklin Delano Porter, the son of Willis Herman Porter and Hilda Belle Blake, was born 28 May 1941 in Marshall County, West Virginia. His siblings were William Howard, Betty Lee, Jack Wayne, Charles Edward, Juanita Maxine, Willis Herman, and Willmetta.
On 31 March 1964, Franklin married his high school sweetheart, Linda Kay Kisner, the daughter of Kenton Alton Kisner and Kathleen Ramsey. Franklin was in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam.
Sergeant Porter, a crew chief on a UH-1B, was killed in action on 30 Dec 1964, while on a combat support mission in Vietnam. He was honored with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Air Medal (10 Oak leaf Clusters + V), and the Purple Heart (1 Oak Leaf Cluster).
At the Ft. Rucker, Alabama Army base, a barracks building, "Porter Hall," is named for Sergeant Franklin Delano Porter.
MOTHER'S OBITUARY: Porter, Belle H., 86 of Hillcrest Ave. Cameron, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Herman Porter, Sr.: two sons, William Howard and Franklin Delino Porter; a daughter, Betty Lee Greathouse; her parents, Jack and Rosa Hawkins Blake, a brother, Ted Blake; two sisters, Maggie Blake and Fannie Woods; and a great-grandson Justin Anderson. Surviving are four sons, Jack Wayne Porter and his wife, Kay, of Starke, Fla., Charles Edward and his wife, Judy, and Willis Herman Porter, Jr., all of Cameron, and Rodney Paul and his wife, Tracy, of Chanute, Kan; two daughters, Juanita Maxine Simonis and her husband, Lloyd, of Rigby, Idaho and Willmetta Oliver and her husband, Sherman, of Cameron, a sister, Orie Yoho of Moundsville; 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Friends received 7-9 pm. Thursday and from 9 am until services at 1pm, Friday at Anderson Funeral Home, Cameron. Interment in Big Run Christian Church Cemetery, Cameron. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 380 Summit Ave., Steubenville, Oh., 43952. American Legion Auxiliary memorial service at 7 pm. Thursday.
WIFE'S OBITUARY: STULL, Linda K. Kisner, 68, of Cameron, W.Va., passed away November 15, 2012, at Liza's Place, Wheeling, W.Va. There will be no visitation. Interment at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Moundsville.
