Born on September 4, 1942 at Cameron, Marshall County, West Virginia, Archie A. Porter was the son of Archie Aretas Porter, born at Littleton, and Gladys Gruzella Neely, born at Roseby's Rock. At the time of their marriage, in 1938, the parents were residents of Cameron.
Archie went to Vietnam in July 1967. He was serving as a Corpsman when he was killed in action by small arms fire on October 21, 1967.
Archie married Elfriede Fengerle and they had three sons, Steven Andrew, Charles Patrick, and James Edward.
Archie is buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke, Virginia. His obituary provides biographical information.
