Born in Moundsville, Marshall County, on Apr. 9, 1836, per family history, the son of William Wayman (1795-1851) and Amy Bane (1802-1875). This family is in the 1850 census of Marshall County. (Manassah was the twin of Ephraim and his name is misstated in the census.)
The family subsequently moved to Iowa. A biography of youngest sibling, William, in Portrait and Biographical Album of Marshall County, Kansas, describes the family history, including the family’s residence in Marshall County, W.Va., and the fate of this soldier, Manassah.
Manassah is buried at Burge Cemetery, New London, Henry County, Iowa. He married Olive Maynard on Aug. 19, 1861 in Henry County, Iowa, and their children were Mary Emma “Minnie” and William Maynard.
