Company "H" 122nd Ohio Infantry
Researched & Compiled by Linda Cunningham Fluharty
At age 30 (probably older), David C. Taylor entered service on Sept. 30, 1862 at Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. He died of disease (related to exposure) on Dec. 6, 1862 at New Creek, Mineral County, (W) Va. Buried at Belmont Cemetery, Belmont Co., Ohio.
Born in Moundsville about 1828 (or earlier), he was the son of James Taylor and Mahetable Cooper, married in Ohio County, (W) Va. on Feb. 22, 1822 and residents of Moundsville (per mother’s obituary). The obituary of the soldier's sister, Mary E. Taylor Bulger, born in Moundsville in 1830, states the family moved from Moundsville to Sewellsville, Belmont County, Ohio about 1833. David never married but was not in the family home in 1850. His mother, "Mehettable Taylor," applied for a government pension in Nov. 1891, and received Certificate #325714.
