Corporal Joseph Pyle, 91, of Bridgeport, O., today wore a medal which he won more than 70 years ago on the battle fields of the Civil war, actual presentation of which was made here late yesterday.
At the close of the war, the state of West Virginia ordered medals presented to all soldiers honorably discharged. Corporal Pyle's medal was never claimed and it lay in the musty archives of the state capitol at Charleston until a few weeks ago.
During the annual state G. A. R. encampment here the medal was presented to Corporal Pyle by Mrs. Val Stanton, Wheeling, daughter of Pyle's wartime companion.
