Reuben Harris, born about 1842, probably in Marshall County, was the son of Joseph Harris, born in Ohio County, and Sarah Keyser, born in Belmont Co., Ohio. Joseph and Sarah, married in Belmont County in 1835, lived in Marshall County in 1850, at which time their children were Noah, 12; William, 10; Reuben, 8; Elbert, 6; Henry, 4, and Bently, 2. Two more children, Mary and Alfred, were born in (West) Virginia before the family moved to Paris, Illinois, their home at the time of the 1860 census.
Joseph Harris’ brother, Noah, also resided with his family in Marshall County in 1850, and they, too, moved to Edgar County, Illinois before 1860.
