Service Record: Various spellings – “Emmanuel” “Jeho” “Greho” - At age 22, enlisted at Smithville, W.Va. on Nov. 24, 1861; mustered in Dec. 22, 1861. “A prisoner of war captured Oct. 13/63 at Bulltown, West Va.” Sent to Andersonville, Ga. Mar. 6, 1864. Admitted to hospital at Andersonville June 29, 1864, where he died on June 29 of Bronchitis.” -
W.Va. Adj. Gen. record: “Farmer, born Marshall County, W.Va. Died June 29, 1864, at Andersonville, Ga., a prisoner of war.” He is buried in grave #2649. He is omitted from both the 1864 and 1865 W.Va. Adj. Gen. Reports of the 11th Infantry but his death is stated in the 1865 Adj. Gen. Report of deaths at Andersonville. His burial record and death date are stated in the U.S., Burial Registers, Military Posts and National Cemeteries, 1862-1960.
