Name also found as “Domane.” Entered service Aug. 1, 1862 at Tuscola, Illinois; mustered in Aug. 28, 1862 at Camp Terry, Illinois. Died June 25, 1863 at Bedford County, Tenn. Buried at Stones River National Cemetery, Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tenn. Born Sep. 20, 1840 in Hampshire County, (W) Virginia per Illinois Soldier database.

The son of Joseph Doman and Nancy Margaret Nelson, Isaac is found with his family in the 1850 census of Marshall County. He is probably the man of that name who lived with the Ingram family in Marshall County in 1860, at which time his birthplace is stated as Maryland (which is close to Hampshire County, W.Va.). The mother died in 1852 and is buried at Okey Kinney Cemetery, Marshall County. Brother, James Doman, who died in 1899, also served in an Illinois regiment and is buried in Peoria, Illinois. Younger brother, Norman, served in the 3-month First W.Va. Infantry and Co. A 12th W.Va. Infantry. Norman’s record states, “Born in Hampshire County,” and his obituary states “born in Cameron, W.Va.” - But they lived in Marshall County for a time. Other brothers not researched.
