Service Record: Joined for duty & enrolled Oct. 1, 1861 at Cameron; mustered in Oct. 14, 1861. From his Casualty Sheet and his POW card: “Died at C. S. Mil. Post Hospital (Richmond) Jany 31, 1865. Acute Diarrhea.” Born in Harrison County, Ohio; age 25, when he re-enlisted Feb. 22, 1864 at Rowlesburg, W.Va. A wagoner. “Captured at New Creek, W.Va. Nov. 28/64. Supposed to be dead.” Confined at Richmond (brought from Staunton) Dec. 7, 1864. - An error in his POW hospital record, as well as the Casualty sheet, state he was in L 6th Va. Cavalry. These documents were not provided by the Rebels until 1867.
This man is possibly related to Benjamin Anderson of this company, who also joined for duty & enrolled Oct. 1, 1861 at Cameron and mustered in on Oct. 14, 1861.
