Harmon McKinney, Sr. Alma - Harmon McKinney, Sr., 83, of Wilbur, died Sunday, July 27, at Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. He was born July 6, 1897, in Doddridge County, a son of the late William and Lenora Spencer McKinney. Surviving are his wife, Hattie McGeorge McKinney; two sons, Denzil McKinney, East Liverpool, Ohio, Harmon McKinney Jr., Wellsville, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Mercer, East Liverpool, Ohio, Mrs. Pauline Greaver, West Union, Mrs. Anna Lea Maine, Porter's Falls, Mrs. Eva Pearl Pierpoint, Tiltonsville, Ohio; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. Mr. McKinney was a retired mail carrier and teamster. He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, where he had been Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years. He was a news correspondent for the West Union Record and the Tyler County Star News. (1980)
